  1. thanks every one was just worried incase i got some unexpected charges at the airport x
  2. thanks for your help, ive wrapped two but will unwrap them just incase, just worried incase my son sees them hopefully not, One of the presents are night vision goggles do you think this will be a problem?
  3. Hi my son and I are due to fly to melbourne on thursday the 20th dec the thing is I have to take my sons xmas presents and im not sure if im allowed to take these in my suit case. 1. Am i allowed to take them in my case? 2.Will I have to pay tax and duty because they are under 12months old? Thanks
  4. hi thanks for your information, davidson 4 I was quite interested on what you had told me about crown so i gave them a call and was really happy with what they could provide at such short notice so didnt even call around for quotes, the are coming to pack on wed and i fly on thursday, like you say they include AQIS fee insurance and door to door delivery (they also have there own offices in Melbourne and dont sub contract which is great) all for just under £3000.00 a fair price i think ( i may be wrong never shipped anything before lol) it does state standard delivery is 10-16 weeks so im just hoping that im on the smaller scale of the estimation.
  5. hi there, I finally got added on to my oh 457 visa and am flying from glasgow on the 20th dec but still have to organise shipping, 1st move international removals appear to be the quickest they have ships leaving every week and they dont have to wait for other people to fill a container (so they say) so was just wondering if any one had any experience with them good or bad any help would be great.<br> :xmas26:
  6. My oh explained this to me he said it could be anything even things relating to a visa so i'm not as worried as I first was my oh seems fine aabout the situation now so thats good, the good point is I think the estate agent is starting to take our other concerns a bit more seriously Thanks
  7. we are generally very happy with the area, I think it has just been the business with the house that is getting us down but hopefully if the land lord agrees to get things sorted out then everything will fine, I just fell that we've been a bit let down in this department, but were not going to let this get in the way of something we've wanted for so long or let it taint our views of melbourne as it is a really nice place with some lovely people, I think we have just been unfortunate in this matter thanks again
  8. he has spoken to the agent on numerous occasions about getting these things fixed, it was in the condition report about the mesh not being fixed down which was fine wouldnt be to difficult to get some new mesh and afix it ourselves but they never stated the window behind the mesh wasn't in working order, like i say i was very much expecting the odd mouse spider sliverfish etc but not to the extent it is at the moment, just flabbergasted at the way theyve allowed hi to move in asoppsed to they way they expect it to be when we move out (at great cost to us) its in hoppers crossing
  9. he did go and see it but it was a group viewing so was only in 10 mins on the surface it looked ok only some minor cleaning but wasnt untill he arrived on friday and had a look in cupboards carpets etc that he realised how bad it was there are bugs and alsorts living deep in the carpet, they said they will speak to and lord about getting it sprayed, just feel like they've ignored everything weve asked them about for the last four days hopefully if the landlord agrees to get these problems solved things will get better, it not that were being stuck up for want of a better word, we know you get what you pay for and at $300 a week we understood it wasnt going to be Buckingham palace, we at least expect it to be semi clean, but what annoys me is that if we were to leave the place in the state we got it we would be liable to all sorts of charges theyve got a cheek to put in the lease we must steam clean the carpets, I just dont understand why its one rule for us and a different non costly one for them, sorry guys suppose im just letting off a bit of steam Thanks
  10. I completely understand bugs and such are part of the territory but this place was absolutely filthy and over run with these things when he moved in he has spoken to the neighbours and none of them have any problems with these things, he doesn't as yet have any food sources as still hasn't moved in properly no kitchen utensils or anything to cook with ect
  11. where to start....My oh who is 24 is on his own in melbourne at our new rental which is horrendous full of mice, spiders, bugs, windows that dont shut so are permenatly open with broken mesh hanging off and also off the doors, carpets are absolutely disgusting oh has only been there 4 days as yet has no furniture etc. and to top it all of after a storm which kept my oh awake most of last night, he heard people out in the garden shinning flash lights n the windows etc he was absolutely sh##ing himself...It turned out to be the police looking for the man who stayed there before him , I suppose my question is: 1. are we entitled to find out why the police want this man? 2. I feel like the landlord/agent should have told us about this as we have a young son what are your views? 3. is this amongst other things grounds for us to leave the rental? The thing that concerns me most is my son who is 5 and I are due out dec/jan what if we had been there how terrifying for my son and what if the police aren't the only people looking for this man? are there other maybe not so nice people looking for him too? How can he/we live here in absolute fear of who or what is going to happen next?:wideeyed: all so worrying considering im over the other side of the world and cant so anything to help, things have just gone from bad to worse, I have been here while hes going through the rental from hell and wanted to come home even before this incident happened last night, now i feel so terrible as Ive been telling him to stick it out it will get better thanks for listening guys
  12. some one else on the life in victoria site had pointed this out to me also, he hasnt seen a mouse but has said that theres lots of noises at night. we have never had to deal with any of these sort of bugs etc so it is very possible it could be either, im lookng into the bug bombs at the moment and will ee how that goes before we can categorically say its mice. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with the bug bombs ie how affective they are? thanks
  13. im pretty sure my oh did say the ducted heating system wasn't working and thats what the vents were from, the agents will be able to inform us more as we have to ask there permission before doing any altering work in the property so we wont be endangering ourselves.
  14. our son isn't there at the moment so this could be done, I do know that there are a few non working heating vents (im sure this was what oh told me but dont quote me on that, was definitely some sort of non working vent though) we were going to address agent about having these covered any way so hopefully f we go ahead with this it may help Thanks
