  1. Hi everyone, Thought I would touch base and give you all an update on the situation. I left London 3 months ago with my partner and we did a month backpacking around thailand before reaching Sydney. It was an amazing journey and there are some fond memories of this trip overall. Some of the highlights were elephant trekking, jungle walking and kayaking in rivers along with visiting some awesome markets. The food was so good in Thailand. After a month out there we arrived in Sydney safe and sound 3 days before christmas. I was fortunate to have my mother living in Sydney so we had a roof over out heads and her car which helps. We managed to sort out a bank account and medicare and tax file number on the first couple of days. Christmas was lovely, it was spent with the grandparents and some family friends, lots of food and some drinks. After christmas I managed to sort out a mobile phone. Everything seemed fairly smooth. After spending another 10 days off, just relaxed, enjoyed the weather and beaches etc I had to then start looking for work. I managed to get a job which I didnt enjoy all that much and decided to leave after 3 days however I had my 5th and final interview lined up with a dream company a few days later and I got the job which I was ecstatic about. I started working there a few weeks ago and everyday I walk under the harbour bridge its great. My partner managed to get a position with the same company she worked for in London which worked out. I would say that it hasnt been easy however good things come to those who work hard for it. You must have the right mindset and desire for wanting to come out here and then it should be a success. I would say the only challenge for me at the moment is socialising and trying to build up a fried base, at times it feels lonely but I understand that this takes time. Overall I would say that this has been a wise decision to come out here. The lifestyle is just what I wanted, the weather beautiful most of the time, beaches, activities. My salary is over double than the UK and I am living with my mum and partner at the moment so financially much better off. I have no intentions to return to Britain I am very sure of this though. I wish everyone the utter most success with their migrations from the UK to Australia. Be strong, you will be fine.:wink::wink:
  2. Hi Everyone, I have recently migrated to Sydney, Australia. I am an Australian citizen who grew up many of my years in London and has now returned to Sydney. I am starting to look for work as an IT Support Analyst within Sydney. I have 2 years experience working in this field having worked for Swarovski in the last year. Does anyone have any personal contacts / friends / recommendations of people working in IT recruitment? Your help would be much appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you all. 4. Hi everyone, I am just about to start the process of booking a shipping company for myself and my partner. We need this from London to Sydney. Roughly we will need something like the following dimensions: Height: 60cm Width: 80cm Length: 180cm Firstly, which companies would you recommend for reasonable prices and good service? Secondly, how much will this cost roughly for this service based on the above dimensions? Let me know your thoughts. I look forward to hearing back from you. Many thanks.
  5. Hi everyone, I am currently in the process of migrating from London to live in Sydney, Australia permanently from the 22nd December 2013. I am a qualified IT professional who has two years experience within a variety of IT support positions and am interested in connecting with multiple IT related people or recruiters and will be looking for an IT support role in Sydney going forward. Does anyone know what the job situation is like in Sydney in this field? Does anybody have any connections in recruitment etc that may be able to assist? I look forward to hearing back from you. Thanks, Christian
  6. Thank you! We sent him a direct email as he is back from his extended leave now. He granted it shortly after. good luck!
  7. Woohoo! my partner and I have just been granted the Subclass 100 visa! So excited, we can now get all the planning underway. We applied from the visa on the 12th March and we had DP as the case officer. We are leaving London on the 25th November to go travelling around Thailand for 3 weeks and then will arrive in Sydney just in time for Christmas and the new year Good luck everyone on your applications!!!
  8. Congratulations on getting your visa approved! Lol Looks like I am not next then
  9. Hi, That is pretty much it for now. The only thing you have to do left is submit your medicals in 3 months time. The only reason they would contact you now on is to ask for more evidence or documents or if your medical gets referred. I have just reached the 7 month mark now so hopefully I will get the 309/100 visa very soon. I would expect to wait at least 7 months from now.
  10. Has anyone else been granted this week? I applied on the 12th March so have just reached the 7 month mark and still waiting. Here's hoping for a grant soon. The wait is excruciatingly long......
  11. Hi gooner, yes sounds like a month ahead. I emailed him a few weeks ago but still did not get assigned anyone else. @rupert the reason why we all know we have the same co is because he is the only one that we are aware of that has been on indefinite leave for like 4 months now.
  12. Does anyone know if case officer dp is back yet? Has anyone with co dp been granted recently?
  13. I applied even earlier on the 12th march and still waiting. I was assigned dp as my co. He is on extended leave. Do you both have the same co? Really want to get the grant now.
  14. lol yes I know the feeling. I'm glued to this forum and very eager to get this grant. My co dp is on indefinate leave though so hopefully there isn't much delay. Good luck with it all
  15. This is so frustrating. I was hoping for an early grant but looks like this may not happen now. Let me know once you hear back or get a grant. it will be good for you to see your hubby ASAP. Thanks
  16. I'm still waiting too. My case officer Is dp as well. I applied for the 309 visa on 12th march. When did you apply?
  17. Has everyone in this group who applied in January received their grant by now? I applied on the 12th march for partner visa and really hoping for an early grant
  18. Hi Bluewaterz, let me know how it goes when you email DP as I have the same case officer as you. We applied on the 12th March so are looking to email him soon enough as well. Thanks
