  1. I have found the tracking page will only load for me in Internet Explorer. If I attempt to open it in Chrome I just get "Please wait..." which isn't very handy
  2. £1400 per person including a stopover in China. I thought it was quite reasonable for a flat bed seat and extra luggage when some of the economy fares we were getting one way ranged from £600 - £100!
  3. We're flying China Eastern airlines in Business Class - the fare was very cheap (We're not expecting posh service!) but we do get 2 x 23kg suitcases per person + 7kg cabin baggage each + laptop bag/handbag each. It's a lot of luggage for the money!
  4. My quote from Essex to Sydney on the medium was £645 + $402.60 in quarantine/customs fees Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
  5. We have gone with a Medium cube as we aren't taking any furniture - just personal effects, clothing, etc... This is what I managed to fit in: 42" TV 26" TV 26" PC Monitor Tower PC Base Unit 4 x DJ Decks (CD & Vinyl) + Mixer Hi Fi Small powered speakers 2 Drawer filing cabinet & paperwork Clothes - all packed in Vacuum bags to save space Books, DVDs, CD's Kitchen: Crockery, Pans, Mugs, Glasses Quite a lot more as well! The photo shows the dry-run/Tetris testing area I have marked out to get the most in possible before the Cube arrives!! There is still space on top, which I will be filling before the big day!
  6. It was just the use of the word finalised that confused me as, as far as I am aware, nothings been finalised (I wish... Can't come soon enough!)
  7. I've received the email below today - it's confused me a bit as I only applied in June 2013 for my 309/100 visa... Either I've missed some good news (ie it's been finalized) or more likely it's just a typo. Has anyone else received an email like this?
  8. At my best guess, I would say yes. Both Australia and UK use DVB-T to transmit digital TV (And we both use the same DVB-T/MPEG-2). I checked this on Wikipedia so you may want to satisfy yourself: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-T I guess if worse came to worst you could always connect a UK Freeview or Sky set top box via HDMI and use it that way? The voltage looks suitable as well. Nice TV by the way!
  9. I didn't know this when I went to Sydney with my partner (who is an Oz passport holder) - we both queued for ages in the 'other' queue! You never want to put a foot wrong when it comes to Passports and Customs. The nice lady on the counter though told us this time saving tip, so it's been memorized for future use!
  10. I have just received my SAE back from Australia House containing my original Police Certificate, which is great service as I only posted it to them on Monday. I'm guessing it's now just a case of sitting and waiting for the grant in 5-6 months (hopefully) as I have already submitted my medicals for my 309 visa. Is it likely I could be asked for anything else now or is it really just a long, long wait?
  11. Have you considered getting a pre-paid Visa or MasterCard card to make the payment? Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 4
  12. Thanks for the help! I called the helpline and they confirmed that Post Office isn't acceptable. I have been to a Solicitor and paid £5 per document so it's not too bad. The weird thing is I'd also emailed DIAC a few days ago and they've just responded that UK applications don't need to certify their docs... I have still had them certified though, just to be on the safe side. Don't want anything to delay my application!
  13. I'm just in the final stages of preparing my 309/100 visa application for submission to the London office. For this I need certified copies of certain documents - does anybody know if the Post Office Document Certification service is suitable. I can't see it listed on the Australia House website but wondered if this was out of date? Basically you take your genuine document and a photocopy to certain post offices and they will then stamp and certify it as a true likeness of the original. Service info: http://www.postoffice.co.uk/document-certification-service?intcampaignid=MNidentitydoccert Any help would be appreciated! Thanks
  14. Thanks for the reply - luckily I will be applying on a class 309/100 (Partner) visa so I won't require a skills assessment - this is just to aid my chances of securing a decent job once I get there. I will look into that Aus qualification grade though - the more I can find out, the better!
  15. I am looking to move to Australia soon and, in my current job of events management, I have years of practical experience but no real qualifications. To this end I have been looking at online distance learning courses that will allow me to back up my practical experience with a qualification... This isn't as easy as it sounds as I have now been drowned in certificates, diplomas and more to the point my head is spinning! Would anyone be able to recommend the way to proceed - ie which level of qualification is likely to help the most and also if I should be looking for a UK qualification or an Australian qualification. I have researched both options but am unsure which would carry the most weight when job searching. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
