1. I would say you could not live on that. We currently earn 3 times that with hardly any mortgage, been here along time have no car loans etc, one child in private school, we certainly could not make the bills etc on that,
 2. Hi Everyone, hubby and I have been here over 25 years and in that time have had many friends come and go from Melbourne. A few years ago we had a great group which was started from this site and we used to get together regularly, anyway most returned to the UK or off to QLD. We are still friends but it's not the same if they are not around to catch up with. Was wondering if anyone out there is interested in starting a new group? All ages are welcome.
 3. Well i am thrilled to read the responses of this post. I am from the Wirral but all family originate from Liverpool, lived there until i came here aged 22. I love home, i think the people are fabulous and i am so happy when i return, We are only in Oz for two things, better weather and better jobs. But quality of life is at home. As i said i was extremely supprised and thrilled to see how many other people recognise the place for what it really is.
 4. Have a look at pomstooz, Dan is a financial adviser Australian based in Uk
 5. Hi, I work for a company in Melbourne called "Whiteboxshop" they do custom made or flat pack kitchens take a look at the website. Ship all over Oz
 6. Have lived in Melbourne for 24 years, but just started to realise that my hair is thining, is it age or something else? I have always had really thick hair, maybe something in the water!
 7. My daughter has braces and is coming towards the end of the treatment. So far we have paid $2000.00 for the plates prior to braces then another $5500.00 for the braces themselves. As stated above all dentistry for orthodontics is private and not covered by medicare. Personally, i dont beleive in private health cover as i think what we saved by not being in a fund just paid for her treatment.

 13.
Best of luck, it is a really big thing to do. Hopefully both of your daughters will love it when they arrive. It does take a while to settle in so be prepared for that, but that normal. Regards Joy

 14. I have been back in 2009, and as much as i can see the faults, i think it will always be home.
 15. Hi , this probably won't help anyone but i feel i need to say it. I have been here for 22 years this year in Melbourne. Initially comming for 1 year to work with my husband. I have family in Melbourne and was brought up to think Oz was the answer to everything. Anyway i hated the first few weeks, but then mum came on holiday and i started to settle. We did go back for 1 year when mum was sick, but my husband is no fan of the UK (due to poor upbringing). So we came back, bought the house paid it off, moved have always worked. Then had our daughter who loves OZ and hates the UK ( i think that is just a fear response). Anyway about 3 years ago i started to think, i've had a good time but its time to go home. When i am in the UK "yes i can see the faults" and think Oz is best. But i am kidding myself, i am really struggling now, and having periods of feeling like i just want to go back to the life i left because i was told i would enjoy Oz. Stupid think is, my brother, his wife and son now live here and so does my mum and dad. But i still feel the same. I would love to talk to friends who grew up the way we did, and understand who you are. So, yes feeling trapped in a life which is totally not me. But rest of family like it (i think). Just feeling really fed up today.

Hi debbie2302,

We are staying in Wallasey which is where i grew up but my mum is from the Dingle and is also here for the 3 weeks. Going tomorrow to visit cousins in Hyton so that should be a good day.

 17.
Couldn't agree more, but unfortunately we are in Melbourne. Been here for 20 years, came as a 21 year old stayed longer than i expected. Have been really homesick lately for yes some basic humour and attitudes to life. Going HOME next wednesday for 3 weeks, cannot wait! We have recently got a group of poms together in Melbourne (from all over britain) and was it a laugh, i think we are going to do it on a regular basis, so if every in Melbourne drop me a line. Bye the way where are you from?
