  1. Don't forget Tony Abbott and Julia Gillard are from the UK and in Canberra. Isn't it time to send them back?
  2. I was able to vote in an Australian election for the fist time at the last federal election. I found the process laughable and a travesty of true democracy. None of the candidates are worth voting for so I have decided never to vote again until Australianoliticians grow up, stop bickering like kids and do something good for the country. They make UK politicians look responsible! I'm glad the LNP got their arses kicked in Qld and can't wait for The same to happen to Abbot and his gang of vicious, nasty, spiteful, petty, vindictive , privately educated, psychopathic bullies
  3. I don't knw why Melbourne is considered so good. I found the public transport dreadful, housing incredibly over priced, and moved to Brisbane to get away from the place. I much prefer it here or Bristol which has more going on and a nicer lave to live. Melbourne is very over rated
  4. I just stored my gear at my dads then got the movers to pick up from his place. Much cheaper
  5. A road trip sounds fun but I can't get Wolf Creek and Ivan Milat out of my head
  6. Our old house was a Queenslander and if it got over 40 degrees, the inside walls were hot to touch so we had to turn off the electricity and escape to the mother in laws with an esky of frozen food as she had aircon and a pool.
  7. When Margaret Thatcher resigned, my boss took us all out to dinner so I'll do the Aussie equivalent... Have a BBQ and lots of booze to celebrate.
  8. The annoying thing about Queensland is that winter temps are lovely but it is dark by 5pm so you cant go out and do anything. Autumn and spring are the best seasons, warm ish and you can get out.Summers are way too hot. I was getting sunburned on my jog at 5am
  9. We used to have sterilised milk which is boiled milk. It was hard to get but it is meant to be safer than pasturised milk. it tasted much creamier than pasturised milk but all of my rellies brought their own milk when they stayed as they didn't like the taste. I am sure that milk straight from the cow is pretty safe but pasturisation and sterilisation have been practiced for over 150 years in the west and thousands of years elsewhere. there is a very good reason for this so if you want to drink raw milk then you are putting your health at risk
  10. lol, my mate went to school there. Can't say a good word about it but was over 25 years ago. It may have got better since but if you are going to bunk off school and go surfing you can't ask for a more convenient school.
  11. Lol, don't think they are interested in GCSEs. I was the last year to do O Level and got the equivalent CSEs free... Which I promptly burned!
  12. i suggest you get some very good legal advice and dont even think about coming to Oz until your situation is clarified. Getting the paperwork to allow your son might be difficult and whilst you are technically married, you have not been in a relationship for nearly 6 years. You cannot get an 820 visa as it is for unmarried couples you need a spouse visa if you are technically married
  13. You just have to be patient. Making sure you have all of your paperwork in order may help a lot but Australia is not going to disappear. Some people have to wait a lot longer than 8 months
  14. Priority at French roundabouts is the same as in England. They changed it years ago but road rules are to be ignored. That why there are signs saying 'vous n'avez pas la priorite'
  15. took 10 seconds to find this out http://www.lifesavingwa.com.au/swim-and-survive/programs/swim-and-survive/levels/stage-07/ I can't really see why you need to know how to swim to learn the 3 Rs
  16. Congratulations! You have discovered that you are being ripped off at every opportunity. By any business. Get used to it.
  17. The horse flies really are the size of a horse and do a lot of damage to your windscreen

    Singapore

when y parents came over last year they had a few days in Singapore and loved it.Loads to do but probably only enough for a few days. We used to live there when i was a baby so dad was trying to find our old house etc but its changed so much he couldnt find it!
  19. Thanks Simon, I might go to chummley warners for a pork pie. My dad came from near Melton Mowbray so I miss them. Their scotch eggs were alright. Been 7 years without one but I ain't impressed with the pasty. Good job I learned how to make them from my gran
  20. Try the butcher in north lakes next to Coles. They do the best black pudding I've ever tasted, their sausages are great too. I know they do gammon but it's called pickled pork in Australia.
  21. Yes my stepmum did the same thing. It was more of a pain getting the money back and they paid it into my Aussie bank account. Medicare were pretty efficient and helpful.
  22. I've trained grads in the UK and Australia and I am sure Australian degrees are hard. However it seems to me that many Aussie grads do lack independent research and report writing skills because dissertations are rare for undergrad degrees.
  23. Up to and including the day it expires but you will need to renew your passport
