not getting it then why they put 1st april last week. Even dolphin1962 who lodged on 1st april 2014 didnt get any mail till now.:daydreaming:

Actually I have all three updates from immi this week - one on Tuesday which says 1 April but the sentence regarding how March applicants 20% higher Etc had been removed from the update issued last Friday. Every update until today including the first one issued earlier today ALL say 'any lodged after this date are not being finalised' (paraphrased). Then the third update this week, being the second update today, suddenly and mysteriously changes the infra structure wording to include 'on and after'. Call me Miss Pedantic and a Conspiracy theorist but there's a fishy smell eminating from Perth that the Freo Doc is blowing my way!! Kim

I am guessing the 20% extra volume was in the last week of March 2014 because they seemed to sail through the earlier weeks (quicker than any other time I think!). Was there a fee increase on 1 April 2014? I was really hoping it was going to be better news this week, same as all of us I'm sure! :-(

We are parents in the UK that have one of four. children in Perth, a second is planning to go in the next coupke of months and then maybe even a third within a year or so. The parent visa information in not very clear and I have tred to call the Australian emabssy in the UK to fet definative answers about the maximun time we can go to Asustralia for, if a parent visa has to be paid for with vast amounts of money etc. etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Patricia. As I understand it, to pass the balance of family test, you have to have more of your children in Australia than not. this allows you to get in a queue for a parent visa. If you are applying from off shore you have a choice of two visas: the 103 which costs about 10,000 dolllars and takes about 10 years queueing, or the 143 which costs about 100,000 (for two people) and takes about two years queuing. There is a third visa which allows you to buy in two stages, can't remember the number but it's something like 178. With these visas you can stay permanently.

 

if you don't want permanent residence you can go for up to three months on a holiday visa. You can also get a temporary visa that lets you stay longer. I think this is called the 600 visa, (but I'm leaving my comfort zone here so others can probably advise you better) this visa lets you stay (I think) up to twelve months but I'm not sure.

 

As as well as looking here, the oz government web site is a mine of info and you can download application forms there. Google parent visas Australia and it should come up.

I believe there was a massive hike of the 2nd vac around 20 March so you would have thought by 1 April there were over any swell in applicant numbers Kim

I seem to recall that there was a price increase in March 2014; and even more worrying rumour had it that there was going to be another one in June 2014, this never happened but I reckon we're in for another backlog in June/July 2014 applications as a result of that rumour.

 

Was wondering if you had any joy finding out about a GBP account in Aus?

Welcome to the forum, or as we all call it "the mad house, waiting room etc"!.

 

How long are you wanting to go for?

 

If it is as a visitor then it can be an e651 (free and valid for 1 year but you have to leave Australia every 3 months), an e600 (this one costs and is valid for up to 1 year without having to leave the country every 3 months).

 

If you are looking to emigrate, then you first of all have to pass the balance of family test; which means that at least 50% of your children have to be Australian citizens or settled permanent residents (settled means they must have had residency for at least 2 years at the time of your application).

 

If you meet the balance of family test then you have a choice of subclasses 103, 143 & 173 visas, each with varying costs and timescales.

 

You can get more information from www.border.gov.au or get advice (free in the first instance) from a REGISTERED MARA migration agent.

Yep, checking back through emails from our Agent

"On 22 March 2014 the VAC increases intended for 1 September 2013 took effect"

There must have been a lot of late applications to get through, VERY VERY disappointing not to see any progress after the positives of a speedy March14.

I agree with @Skeelsy regarding the disappearing/appearing line of "On or After this date" :wacko:

We've got so close, lets not lose it now :biglaugh:

Haha Kim I can't think of a worse way to make a living. All this nit picky detail drives me absolutely crazy. I do feel sorry for people just starting out though, I'm so glad we are nearing an answer, one way or the other. I thought I had everything sorted, but it seems not!

I am going over to Australia this November on an e600, then hopefully my CPV will be granted approx June 2017 (I realise I have to leave the country while this occurs)

My question is............has anyone found a way of shipping personal items out during this crossover time?

I am not looking to send a lot, no furniture to speak of, but quite a few musical instruments, kitchen and leisure items and quite a few little things of my life.

I am sure all this will fit in a small move cube, but they have said I need a visa to ship this, or pay tax on the items original value (no depreciation)

i thought I could bypass this by sending goods on my daughters PR visa (quite a lot of the items are my daughters wedding presents that she has never bothered to request, thinking I could bring them with me), but have been told this needs to be done within 2 years of her visa grant, which was granted 3 years ago.

Can I send items on an e600? Or will I have to store items until my CPV is granted?

Any information gratefully accepted.

reallycant help you there. We went out with only 6 cases between us. We got rid of everything and have started again from scratch. The only things I kept were photo albums which I had been taking over every time I went to visit. Hope someone else has some good info for you

we we came early and 'cheated' and shipped under one of our daughters name who had move out a year previously. Friends ours did similar but their son had been granted longer than 2 years but they argued his visa type said he had to activate it within 6 months and then had to live in oz for 2 out of 5 years so technically he could have 'moved' to oz after 2 years of being granted therefore that 2 year limit was from date of move not grant. Haven't seen them for a while but they seem to have got away with it. Might be worth revisiting wording - doesn't it actually say grant or moving to oz. Also we , booked, paid and organised shipping and just added "for our daughter...,,.," on any paperwork and we were never asked for her visa details by anyone so not sure how much attention is paid to detail of visa length etc. Hopefully this helps Kim

Hi just started to panic but will be doing the same as you Skeelsy. Our shippers haven't mentioned anything about what we are doing. We have actually taken the plunge and booked flights in October with Flight Centre. Also flying direct to Canberra. Got a good deal too and mentioned this site and the good comments about them!! Think it helped. Now gone into panic mode. Although we lodged January 2015 time seems to be flying. Just working out whether to get e600 for 7 months or a year. Keep up the good work with tips etc. Bored my husband silly with this every day but it's worth it!! Kathy

Hi Steve,

My son sent me an email contact, a product specialist at the Sydney head office. I sent my initial email to her and heard back the next day, an introduction and questions about our plans so I let her know our requirements etc and am just waiting for her further reply now, hopefully this week. I'll keep you updated if/when i hear more.

 

I had also thought there may be further backlog delays, I'm really hoping April 2014 was quieter with the influx in March that year!
