Actually we have been waiting on a bridging visa for a year from when we applied for conversion from 173 to 143 and AOS is handled by centrelink who only does this part of visa process.

Following on regarding our sponsors AOS application via mygov from submitting to receipt of acceptance letter took 9 week exactly. So clearly backlog is clearing

Not certified but did send several emails to ensure not too big as they can get lost in the ether if attachments too large.

After a very stressful 3 weeks trying to apply for AOS for ourselves and now 22 year old son who was 17 when we first applied for 173. No one was sure if he was considered child or adult for Aos. However successfully submitted on 30 Jan via my assurers mygov account. On final page of submission there was a box giving estimated completion date which was 41 days after submission. Photo shows this below. I looked on centrelink site and there was a whole section dedicated to the announcement that at if 1 Jan 2019 they were completely streamlining process with aim of completing by estimated date. Also they said a link would be set up from the applicants mygov that would allow assurer to see progress of application. To date this link hasn’t appeared so clearly still ‘work in progress’. I thought it would be useful to share progress and see if they do meet their estimated completion date. If they do I am sure this will be assuring to many of you out there as progress can be tracked and plans made as opposed to current ‘no one has a clue’ scenario. Downside if they fail just adds to the doom and gloom of ever increasing wait times. Be good to hear if anyone else has been given an estimated completion date. I will update accordingly

After 3 weeks of pure drama trying to do AOS applications on line with one of my assurers having to go to centrelink 3 times with average hour wait as they forgot to tell her she needed a number from them and then they didn’t acknowledge identity check properly. We have two separate applications as deemed 3 adults and was told had to do that way. Finally there and on successfully submitted pages it said estimated to be processed by mid March. I am reading in here all the time that at least 4 months. Is that ‘pie in the sky’ automated response. Anyone out there was processed in the time estimated on submission. Useful to know actually could be 6 weeks or am I being ‘Mrs Too Hopefully’

Just aos and police check thankfully but agent did say they could come back and ask for more at any point. Did you see AoS Bond increase from 1 April to 15k primary and 6k each secondary. Doubt if we will be finalised by then so clobbered for another 9k

It was just under 12 months for us. Biggest headache is AOS as have 3 adults now as aos see our son who was a child when we started back in 2012. Total ignorance as to how we best apply and even our migration agent not that knowledgeable and slow to respond. I’m not a happy bunny

Sorry if these has been asked before. We are converting from 173 to 143 and have been asked to apply for AOS. Question: is the date of visa application our original 173 date or date we applied for the 143 conversion the date we use as our visa application date for AOS purposes? Reason being our son was a child when we applied for 173 but an adult when we applied for the 143 so if original date then AOS application is only for 2 but if the later date of our conversion 143 application then it’s 3 adults. Question: If its 3 adults do we need a separate AOS application from another assurer? Question: If so does that mean we have to pay $14k for a joint one and a further $10k for the separate one.

Finally we got our letter from PVC to process our 173 into a 143. We followed all the instructions for my sister to apply via her mygov. However won’t let her apply without a CRN number. Says she has to apply for this for can apply to be our assurer. We could have done this weeks ago and been ready now. Have I missed something or do we really have to go through process of getting a CRN first.

When we were granted 173 back in June 2016 the waiting time for conversion to 143 was 3 to 6 months. Last Feb 2018 I was perplexed and horrified to see waiting time increased to over a year. Seeing this we applied immediately even though only had 173 for 20 months. With a sick MIL in uk we had to apply for bridging visa so we could travel immediately if required. Worryingly we were granted a 2 year bvb and felt higher powers knew more than us. Now after 10 months and still waiting and see update says 9 Feb for processing and we are 23 Feb. Looking at all the posts about long aos delays I realised this is going to affect me shortly. My brain started meandering- because it has time with all the waiting!! and I cannot help asking why is AOS taking so long. We all know they were more than capable just over a year ago processing in around 6 weeks. So have the number gone up - NO as stats I have seen on here indicate less than capped figure are being processed, less staff - come on that would mean staff cut at least tenfold and is highly unlikely each individual centre link had more than 10 staff that would mean 0 staff??? We are well past the debacle regarding changes back in April. So I’m left with political interference to holding back us poor pawns on 173 who are on bridging visas and don’t count as migrants until granted 143! I may be considered a mere migrant but I’m not a stupid migrant My meanderings also lead me to consider whether there is a desparity in AOS waiting times at different centre links. I can think of at least 5 centre link locations close to me. Has anyone collated recent stats for different branches, does my sponsor have a choice of centre links as she works near one and lives near a different one. Alan Collett this May be one for you to mull over. Is it possible to save weeks even months selecting centre links branches who demonstrate shorter turnaround times. I maybe naive assuming As the paying customer in terms of the parents contributory visa and therefore should be offered some choice!! Or does my sponsor have to use a centre link branch dictated by the powers above. Any thoughts! kim

I tried putting another word instead of ‘test’ and worked immediately. This week my contemplation as to what ‘word’ to use ended up in very inappropriate words!! Could this be a way of venting with your choice of word when sending for the ‘out of office’ email - even this could be considered a good descriptive term!!! Likely the word substitute for ‘test’ could in the long run produce some colourful choices.
