Hi Guys

Not sure if you already were aware WA are giving out some SS. Saw an email this morning on BE by someone saying they had just got WA SS..?

I was a bit surprised they were not waiting till SMPs and giving out that rather than SS.

Maybe it is positive that SS will be treated like SMP (me having positive thoughts :nah::wink:)

Hi VickyMel,

This is the response I got this morning which might shed some light .

The Government of Western Australia would like to advise the following;

All pending applications for State Sponsorship from Western Australia will be processed. All new applications can be lodged on-line when the system on the State website is re-opened. If you have not lodged your visa application, please contact Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC).

The Off-list nominations for the 2009/2010 program year have been allocated. Allocations for the 2010/2011 off-list have not yet been finalised.

The signed agreement with the form 1100 can be scanned and emailed to migration@dtwd.wa.gov.au clearly marked “Signed Agreement and 1100 – Applicant Name and SMT/R reference number “ in the subject line of the email. If you have already done this please do not send it again.

The six-monthly survey process required as part of state sponsorship approval is currently suspended. You will be contacted when the surveys resume in late August 2010. Change of address details can be emailed to migration@dtwd.wa.gov.au clearly marked with “Applicant Name, SMT/R reference number and DoB.” If you have already done this please do not send it again.

The State Migration Plan is still being finalised and we are unable to offer information regarding any possible criteria or the occupations that may be listed.

You may wish to keep yourself up to date with the changes by reading the information available on our website www.migration.wa.gov.au regularly. It will be updated as and when information is available.

The Government of Western Australia is not responsible for visa applications but for state sponsorship only.

Please accept this as a response to your questions. Skilled Migration WA is currently unable to respond to individual emails.

Your cooperation is highly appreciated.

Cheers,

John

What is this form 1100 exactly for? I applied for WA-SS online back in march but never signed and scanned a form 1100 as far as I remember.

THis is the form you get when your SS is granted. You fill it in as acceptance of the offer of SS and send it back to WA who then forward it on to DIAC to accompany your Visa app.

Hi Stillwaiting79,

I got this response as well, so I have posted it on a few threads. I think its starting to look very good for people who have SS at the moment.

Cheers,

John

Hi John,

Hi John,

Hi,

I think it looks good because the employers in WA are pulling their hair out at the moment as they cant get anyone to fill their vacancies and are starting to moan about it just before an election. the fact that they are still processing existing applications tells me that they still want us. Also when the new SMP comes into effect, a new application will take 12 months from date of lodgement to complete. This would be into the tax year of 2011/2012. So i cant see DIAC twiddling their thumbs for 12 months. The states granted people SS for a reason and the reason is that they need us now more thanm ever to fill their vacancies in WA. We are in a perfect position for them to open the gates and let us in. Maybe its just me trying to look into a positve outcome too much, but I wont apologise for that ( haha )

I hope this helps.

Regards,

John

Guys, please don't be that optimistic. The last change to the priorities has just been in February to include the SMPs. According to this document old SS-applications are listed in fifth place (after job-sponsored, smp-sponsored, CSL ...). Why should they change it again and prioritise applications that might not even be on the new SOL/SMP resp. applications they (DIAC) would ideally like to get rid of? OK, they might change it to kick out the CSL once all of these applications have been finalized but this won't push old SS to position 3 I think. It would be the first fair and reasonable action on part of the DIAC since 3 years.

Furthermore even if WA is pulling out their hair it's not WA that determines the priorities. It's the government resp. the DIAC that sets them.

Although it's absolutely unfair and inhuman I think the'll be delighted to let us wait and we'll see all the new applicants jumping to the top of the queue. Admittedly, not a very bright prospective. No facts just my opinion.

Hi Mongobear,

I think we will be as optimistic as we want to, thank you very much. We are keeping the comments up beat and we will not apologise for looking at the positive angle for a change.

I would suggest that from now on, if anyone has comments that may make members feel slightly negative, then please keep them to themelves,

Yours positively and happy,

I didn't know that only positive comments are allowed  Perfect world ? We should probably ask DIAC to shut down their business and not to start again until they've got positive messages for everyone in the queue.

I'd love to see your "dream" come true for all of us but please respect my opinion as I do yours. Thank you.

Yours realistic

Is that the best you can come up with?

Why not try smiling a bit more mate. You might see the world in a different light.

Why waste your life being a miserable human being when you can enjoy and be grateful for what you have and will have.

Keep smiling my friend, you never know, you might just like it.

Yours happily,

John

Hi John,

We are praying for good news as we sold our house today,a bit of the shock really!!

Many of us who post on here have good days and bad!

Were fed up with DIAC as weve jumped through all the hoops they have asked of us! We lodged a 175 CSL march 09 only to be taken off the CSL and advised to lodge a 176 WA SS which we did and then the whole 23 sept 09 business! This will be another change for many of us but i feel and hope this will be the start of something new!! Roll on August as we really need a visa!!!

when the new SMP comes into effect, a new application will take 12 months from date of lodgement to complete.

GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION

ADELAIDE PROCESSING INFORMATION

This is an automated e-mail response which provides updated information on

skilled migration applications being processed by the Adelaide Skilled

Processing Centre (ASPC). Please do not reply to this email address as

this mailbox is not monitored. Contact details for the ASPC are listed

below.

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Changes to Priority Processing – 8 February 2010

Direction No. 45 - Order of consideration - certain skilled migration

visas

The Migration Act 1958 contains powers by which the Minister can consider

and finalise visa applications in an order of priority that the Minister

considers appropriate. Departmental officers are required to follow this

Ministerial direction, which applies to every stage of visa processing.

The Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Senator Chris Evans, has set

new processing priorities for certain skilled migration visa applications.

The direction came into effect on 8 February 2010 and applies to new

applications lodged on or after 8 February 2010, and those already lodged

or in the final stages of processing, and replaces the previous Priority

Processing Direction (No. 42) which commenced on 23 September 2009.

The new priority processing arrangements apply to the following visa

programs:

The Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)

The Regional Sponsored Migration Scheme (RSMS)

General Skilled Migration (GSM)

The following GSM visa subclasses are exempt from the priority processing

provisions specified in Direction 45:

Skilled – Recognised Graduate Subclass 476

Skilled – Graduate Subclass 485

Skilled – Designated Area – Sponsored (Residence) Subclass 883

Skilled – Regional Subclass 887

Applications for these visa subclasses will be processed in the order in

which they are received.

The following GSM applications are exempt from Direction 45

applications that have been remitted by the Migration Review Tribunal for

reconsideration;

applications where it is readily apparent that the criteria for grant of

the visa would not be satisfied;

applications by members of the family unit of a person who holds a

temporary or provisional GSM visa (subsequent entrant applications).

visa applications for a Skilled – Regional Sponsored Subclass 487 visa

where the applicant holds a Skilled – Independent Regional (Provisional)

Subclass 495 visa, Skilled – Designated Area-sponsored (Provisional)

Subclass 496 visa, Skilled – Regional Sponsored Subclass 487 visa or

Skilled – Regional Sponsored Subclass 475 visa at the time they apply.

The Skilled Migration visa processing priorities

Under the Ministerial Direction, the following processing priorities (with

highest priority listed first) apply:

1. Applications from people who are employer sponsored under the ENS and

the RSMS.

2. Applications from people who are nominated by a State/Territory

government agency under a State Migration Plan agreed to by the Minister.

3. Applications from people who are nominated by a State/Territory

government agency and whose nominated occupation is on the Critical Skills

List (CSL).

4. Applications from people who are neither nominated nor sponsored

under Priority Groups 1,2 or 3 but whose nominated occupation is listed on

the CSL.

5. Applications from people who are nominated by a State/Territory

government agency whose nominated occupation is not listed on the CSL

6. (i) Applications from people whose occupations are listed on the

Migration Occupations in Demand List (MODL); as well as

(ii) Applications from people who are sponsored by family and whose

nominated occupation is not listed on the CSL.

7. All other applications are to be processed in the order in which they

are received.

The complete list of occupations on the CSL is available on the

department’s website:

http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/general-skilled-migration/pdf/critical-skills-list.pdf

Application Processing Times for GSM Applications

Information on application processing times is published on the

department’s website at

Client Service Charter

If your application is in any of priority groups 2, 3 or 4, it is

estimated that your visa application will be finalised within 12 months of

your lodgement date. Please note that processing times can be affected by

circumstances beyond the department’s control.

If your application is in any of priority groups 5, 6 or 7 and you have

applied for an offshore GSM visa or intend to apply for an offshore GSM

visa, it is unlikely that your application will be finalised within 3

years of the date of the application.

If your application is in any of priority groups 5, 6 or 7 and you applied

for an onshore GSM visa or intend to apply for an onshore GSM visa, it is

unlikely that your application will be finalised within 2 years of the

date of the application.

Please note that your nominated occupation is the occupation you nominated

at the time you lodged your application and cannot be changed.

Application processing times are indicative only and are based on the

current visa application rate, the current Priority Processing Direction,

and the availability of places in the Migration Program.
