Peachy
Just settling down to kids favourite tea of crackers and cheese in front of the tele. However we have a choice of cheddar or Edam. Help! Sod the issues with the summer what are we going to do without decent cheese ? Christmas tea won't be the same without a cheese selection. Â Where can I get different cheeses? My husband is holding out hope that Wensleydale may have a niche market here :-)

Gbye grey sky
Plenty of choices at our IGA in the Redlands.
dmjg
Even aldi has a good variety.  The ashes goats cheese is yum.   Otherwise google local cheese makers.  Where are you?  Local to us is Red Hill Cheese, Main Ridge Dairy, Blue Bay Cheese  A little less local, but a lovely day out is Jindi cheese or Yarra Valley, etc.

JockinTas
Wensleydale and Cranberry with some crackers and grapes gets my thumbs up! (with some red wine!) Â Coles Wensleydale and Cranberry is my favourite. King Island produce very nice cheeses and we are spoilt for choice here in Tasmania. Peachy
The thought of getting Wensleydale in Australia has made my day :-) Have just gone online and can see that Coles also do a Wensleydale with apricot - a personal favourite of mine for Christmas. Well now I am truly "living the dream" ;-)
Guest
Blue Cow cheese which we could get at IGA's and deli's is on a par with decent british cheeses. Â http://www.bluecow.com.au
VERYSTORMY
If you are in WA have a look at Boatshed Market in Cottesloe. Enormous selection of British and European cheeses.
Eera
We've got a fantastic little deli that does all the English cheeses. It's a combination Italian / Chinese deli, but with an eclectic cheese counter.
jumpingjellybean
Sod the issues with the summer what are we going to do without decent cheese  You can get decent cheese here.........you just need to look.  Tasmania has some really nice hard cheeses. And King Island is famous for its soft cheeses.  http://www.brunyislandcheese.com.au/  http://www.kingislanddairy.com.au/  http://www.ashgrovecheese.com.au/  The "average" cheese in Australia like Coon is pretty poor in my opinion, as manufactured for mass production.  But some of the artisan cheeses are really nice and readily available in Coles and Woolworths in the specialized cheese section.  I also buy some good French and Italian cloth cheeses from Thomas Dux or independent delis.  There is a deli in Wahroonga NSW that has a good selection but being Wahroonga they are a bit pricey. So not for every day use; more special occasions like Christmas.  Any wineries near you? They normally make and sell cheese too, like The Hunter Valley wine region in NSW: http://www.smellycheese.net.au/index.php/cheese/uk  Being in Sydney there are also suburbs renowned for their overseas population. For example, the inner west suburb of Leichhardt is known as little Italy, and so you can buy traditional Italian foods there - smoked meats, pizza, gelato and cheeses.
