457 Visa Timeline - June 2013 [Sydney]

Employer nomination approved, 457 visa + defacto partner (both British) application lodged 11th June with MA, still waiting for any kind of status change on the website, medicals not requested (yet!), maybe they can see I keep checking the status online thrice a day (at least) so are going to take their time!! Got flights on hold departing 5th August which need to be booked by 16th July as supposed to be starting job in Sydney on 13th August! So much to organise and so little time to do it in the closer the departure date gets ... just want approval now! Hate being in limbo! Lol!

11/06/2013 Application received - processing commenced

11/06/2013 Application fee received

Anybody had any experience or able to provide a 457 approval time frame for the Sydney office? MA says recently has been under 4 weeks, which for us should be by the end of next week (hopefully!) ...

Internal transfer from the UK with my current employer as Specialist Manager NEC .. I noticed that a lot of people seem to have been asked for medicals on various forums so assumed that was a regular practice .. hopefully if we dont need one then it may speed up the process!

Hi, our 457 visa has been processed by an agent and was submitted on 18th June. Our agent hasn't heard anything at all yet. We shouldn't need any form of medical but we are hoping for our visas to be approved within a 5 week window else we won't be leaving the UK at the end of August as planned!!

Good luck and fingers crossed!

Mine took 6weeks a couple of months ago...although once the medical was done it it was granted within a week...I had to wait 3 weeks for medical to be arranged as I couldn't get time off wrk so without medical I think I would have got it in about 3 weeks...that was with additional info being asked for due to a caution few years ago. Good luck

Oh! Wonder if the same will apply to my hubby then-he's a gas fitter. Different occupation but they are both trades rather than office jobs-hmmm...

I think I've been asked due to exposure to exhaust gases.

I'm also struggling with references as never had any so mine is pending.

3 weeks sounds good-we could cope with that! I have developed an e-mail obsession already though seeing whether I've got any updates...even in the middle of the night- its crazy!!

Tell me about it! It's taken over my life! I feel the DIAC know when I check for updates online and can see a list of logins scrolling for pages and pages ... !!! Will be glad when we know whats going on as can then get plans into action!

Ah right Chubbs75, that explains it! So what can you do without references? Do you have to just wait for them to flip a coin? : (

Well you can do self reference with supporting documents( p60 etc) and explain why you haven't got them. Which ive done But I'm trying to get one from current job :)

I applied for my visa on the 14th June and had my medical on Monday (I'm a nurse), I'm too now anxiously waiting and constantly checking website for any updates. Want to book my flights sooner than later. Hope everyone hears something soon

Our Visa was lodged 26th June and we have just had medicals today. I've been told a decision should be 3 - 4 weeks from application, as we are due to fly down on 31st July. Fingers crossed for everyone, ourselves included.

Mine was lodged on 28/05 and they asked me to go chest X-ray on 18/06 plus have to provide references. X-ray should be sent today or tomorrow and they will get reference to day as well hopefully. I'm told after these they should approve in few days.

Hi. The company managing my 457 (which was submitted last Friday) have told me the current average processing time for the visa is 4 weeks. Hopefully they are right!

My waiting time will be 3 weeks tomorrow. But I haven't heard anything at all from the MA-is no news good news?
