And thanks btw!

Hi

I've just spoken to a friend of mine who is a Professor of Nursing in Vic. She thinks the costs seem high. But she also mentioned that students of nursing are registered with AHPRA these days. So she would suggest your initial conversation is with them, to ensure that you can undertake supervised practice in Australia. She would also be happy for you to email her directly if Vic. is an area that you may be interested in. She will forward it to one of her colleagues that deals more directly with student nurses. PM me for her email address.

Thanks johndoe, we are applying for the 189 so it might benefit us.

just thought if post with an update of my anmac application! I emailed them as theyhadn't sent the email confirmation that they had received it despite the post office tracker saying it was delivered on the 22nd! They were very helpful, the lady wasn't sure why the email hadn't been sent but they did have my application, she sent out the email this morning so I can breath a sigh of relief!

As for the extra payment for references to be assessed for work experience, she said it's all done in the initial assessment the payment is only required if you need your references assessed after you have your LOD! Oops!! She did say though that the payment I sent would be disregarded! So sorry paednurseclaire for confusing you!!! And anyone else!!!!!!

Hello fellow nurses in Oz!

Anyone work in or have worked in the Alfred?

I'm in a bit of a dilemma.... arrived in Bundaberg QLD 7 weeks ago on a 457 visa, a little disappointed and concerned hubby will not find work here applied for a post at the Alfred.

What Melbourne like to live and work? I also have a 7yrs old son and have to try and make the right decision for him too!

i have always wanted to sample life in Melbourne but my fellow QLD's are making me doubt wether it will be a good move?

Tips/Advice or experiences would me gratefully received...... The path to relocation never seems to run smooth ;)

I worked in The Alfred ICU's in the '90's and the ED in the 00's. Loved both.

Can anyone confirm this information?

So, I am a 24 year old surgical registered nurse (Diploma) already in Adelaide (from the UK) and registered with APHRA on a working holiday visa.

My plan is to obtain a 190 visa to stay in Adelaide indefinitely. From what I can tell, you need 60 points to apply for this visa.

Visa 190 = 5 points

Age = 25 points

IELTS 7 = 10 points (Have not yet taken the exam)

Qualification = 15 (If my diploma is seen as equal to bachelors degree)

Australian work experience = 5 points (I will have been working with an agency for one year this October).

So there are a couple of things I need clarifying before applying for any visa.

First, would I only require a modified ANMAC assessment as I am already registered with APHRA thus eliminating the need for doing an academic IELTS?

Second, would I only be able to start applying for this visa once I have reached 1 year in employment in Australia (October)?

Lastly, If I did need to score 8 in the IELTS to achieve enough points to cover any potential loss in points, would I only need to score an overall 8 or an 8 across all sections of the exam?

Kind regards

Hi. IELTS is a pain. For academic 7, you need 7 (or more) in each part of the test. For the extra points 8, you need 8 or more in each part of the test. The average score isn't particularly relevant.

My wife got an average of 8.5 - but this was made of 2 x 9 pionts, 1 x 8.5 & 1 x 7 points. So her average was 8.5, but it only have her enough for the 7 in each. It's a bit rough!

Hi,

1. You would only need modified ANMAC as u already have AHPRA. And hence you only need General IELTS.

2. If you would like to claim the 5 points for Oz work experience, then you will have to wait exactly 1 yr to apply for skill select.

3. Yes you would have to score an individual 8 to get 20 points. But if you are going to apply next year, then you will get extra 5 points for age.

Also do you have any UK work experience. If you have 3 years work experience, then you might get points for that too.

Gud luck :)

Hi All,

I have woken up this morning to an email confirming I have been granted a 489 family sponsored visa!! I have also received an email from a new hospital in Perth with an interview date for a neonatal nurse role!

My question is could anyone provide me with an idea of what they might ask me in an interview, I know they may ask usual questions such as conflict resolution and strengths and weakness but anything else specific to Australian nursing?

Any help would really be appreciated.

Thanks

Hay

Congratulations x

I am in the process of filling EOI FOR 190 visa.I would like to get someone's help to know how to enter the Diploma (nurse) as a degree in the EOI section of the immigration. ANMAC approved my diploma and is equvalent to degree. Does anyone can help. Instead of diploma can I enter degree in the EOI FORM.

I am struggling to get 60 points without IELTS. My points are the following

age - 25 points

diploma -10

1 year AUS experience -5

state nomination -5

5 to 8 years experience in UK -10

if my diploma (10 points ) can be written as a degree (15 points) then I will get total 60 points - How to do the same?

Please suggest your opinions

you need to apply for anmac modified skills assessment. I did the same. Then they will give you an assessment letter saying that your diloma is equal to a degree. Immi will accept this letter.

Hi Clock,

I believe you could enter it as degree, as ANMAC has approved it as Bachelors. My best advise would be to contact the skill select team only. But I don't think it should be an issue.

Gud luck

Hi all, sorry if this has been asked loads before but I wondered what people's experience of timescales is from application to registration? I applied in April to the Sydney office. 2 weeks later I hadn't heard anything so phoned and they confirmed that my application was received and allocated a worker on 2 May but I have heard nothing since. Is this normal? I am due to fly out to Sydney on 28 June and was at least hoping to have sorted the NMC verification of registration history by then. Is it normal not to receive an email confirmation following receipt of application? Thanks!

Hi Charmaine, unfortunately registration with AHPRA seems to be taking longer now since the changes. There are nurses on here who applied last Oct & are still waiting.

Hi all!!!

We are new to pio and are looking for any help/advice you may have.

I am currently a registered nurse and will shortly have finished my post graduate diploma as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse/Health Visitor with a nurse prescribing qualification.

My husband is a joiner with a valid SSTS qualification too.

We have 2 boys aged 6 and 3 who are so excited about our decision to move however I haven't got a clue where to start.

Would you recommend getting an agent to help?

Also is there any average time applications take as we would also need to sell the house?

Thank you and sorry to bombard with questions that have probably been asked a trillion times.
