  1. Hi Does anyone work in Oz as the health visitor equivalent?? I've been doing some reading and heard it isn't a common role and that the few that I have seen working as a HV are disliking it!!
  2. Excellent!!! Thanks for the building info will def look into that!!
  3. Good luck with it all wish we had done it years ago now when we initially decided with all the changes with the nursing applications!
  4. No I currently work with pregnant mums to be and perform antenatal checks and then perform assessments and reviews on children at individual ages to monitor development progress and safeguarding issues etc...
  5. Hi Rallyman Wow that's brilliant congratulations, we have been wanting to make this move for so long but I wanted to have my children around my family as my nan was ill at the time and would never have been able to travel. Now it's here and I need to get things in motion I don't even no where to start, did you apply for your jobs whilst still at home then for your visa. Thanks Louise
  6. Hi Gary Thanks for your advice think we'll take that route then. How is the joinery work out there we had friends working over there last year that said there was plenty of work, it is starting to pick back up over here but still nothing major really. Louise
  7. Hi What area of nursing do you work in? We are hoping to love to the Brisbane area as we have some friends already there! I understand they don't have have health visitors in Oz but have what they call "child and family nurses" is that correct would you know? Louise
  8. Hey wrussell Thanks for the advice!!!
  9. Hi Geordiegirl68 Thanks for the advice. Wow I'm shocked I keep getting alsorts of advice from people, some saying it is really quick, a midwife I know qualified last September and was in oz by October!! I've been reading the APHRA thread, I have to say its a little disheartening some of the comments and I am a bit upset with myself as we have been planning to make the move for over 6 years but I wanted to wait until I had my children around my family now I feel I have left it until the process has changed too much :daydreaming:
  10. Hi all!! We are new to pio and grateful to any advice. My husband has been a joiner for around 15 years+ he also has his SSTS qualification among others. Can anyone advise the best place to search for jobs, the best visa. Any agent information would also be appreciated. As I am a level 7 qualified nurse not sure if I should be the lead applicant or my husband. Any advice would be much appreciated thanks!!! Louise

  12. Hi all!!!! We are new to poms in oz so appreciate any help and advice. I am currently a registered nurse and due to qualify as a specialist public health nurse/ health visitor in September. I will also have a nurse prescribing qualification. My husband is a qualified joiner and we have 2 boys aged 6 and 3 we are hoping to start our application to Australia pretty soon but I haven't a clue where to start I here so many stories about people choosing the "wrong" agents and spending unnecessary money. Can anyone offer any advice I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!
