  1. Hi we have just moved from UK to Berowra. I agree it's affordable (although prices on the increase) and a lovely place for young families. It's about a 10-15 min commute by car to Hornsby. Not sure where you live but unless you are travelling into the CBD traffic is nowhere near as bad as UK even during rush hour. Gosford is a great place we know people who live there. Near beaches but enough happening. About 30-40 min commute to Hornsby.
  2. Hi all, my husband and 16 year old son are currently in a serviced apartment in Wahroonga. We don't join them until July. Is anyone in that area able to extend a friendly hello to them they are fed up staying in watching TV without us!
  3. Hi I have now got my permanent residency as my husband has a job and I am planning to move to Sydney in July when I hope to start looking for work myself as a nurse. I have looked at the Aphra form and it looks like I need an address in Australia to complete it. Has anyone completed their registration recently and could you please guide me through the process, it seems a little complicated and I havent anyone to help me as I havent got a job offer yet! Thanks a lot
  4. Well, we finally got our 186 PR Direct Entry Visa approved today. YAAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!! Here's our timeline... 27.6.13 decision ready application sent and acknowledged to Melbourne Office, all forms, medicals and police checks front loaded through MA no news at all about progress until we phoned Melbourne Office on Monday to be told that CO was looking through our papers and it could be up to 9 months processing time (not the 6 months service standard we expected) Total time taken 6 m and 2 weeks. We are so happy, now I just need to sort APHRA registration..wish me luck! Good luck to those still waiting
  5. Thanks MaggieMay24 Hope you have a lovely New Year, will give that email a try.
  6. Does anyone know an email address for contacting Melbourne office? We have been waiting since June for our Visa, so now over the service standard for a 186 visa to be processed. They are not even replying to our MA so an email contact point would be helpful. Thanks all and have a good new year :xmas16:....lets hope those of us still waiting get an early surprise in:wink: 2014 !
  7. We are also in the same position Applied ENS 186 27.6.13 direct entry scheme, acknowledged same day Melbourne Office Uploaded all forms plus medical clearance 1.7.13 Case officer assigned beg. Nov 13 Status: In progress Heard nothing, its almost 6 months now. Was hoping to get my middle child into school to start his HSC in Jan, that plan now gone. The longer it takes the more my kids are changing their minds about this move. AAARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!
  8. We are also waiting for a 186 approval through Victoria, lodged in June 13. We have a MA who said we have a case officer but we are 5th in the queue and its complex as there are 5 of us in our family. We heard the elections held up the process but not sure if that's fact or speculation. Either way the wait is killing us, we need to get our children enrolled in school for Jan 14!
  9. We will be on a 121 visa as my older 2 will be starting Uni when we get there and so we needed permanent residency status to enrol them and not pay hefty overseas student fees
  10. Thanks that was really helpful and I have checked out that website you suggested. I will definately keep checking there. I am assuming that you have to have a catholic faith to apply to the catholic schools or are you able to just apply regardless of faith to them?
  11. Hi all I would like to know where the best public primary and secondary schools are in north sydney. My daughter will be moving there at the end of UK year 4 so will only have been in the nsw school system for a short time before sitting exams for a place in a selective school. I think this may affect her chances so I want to hedge our bets and make sure we are in the catchment for a good state school if she does not get a selective place. Does anyone know where there are good schools? I have checked to edu au website but educational statistics are lost on me! Thanks!
  12. Hi all My husband has a job offer in Sydney. I will be added on to his 121 Visa which we are applying for this year. Because our kids are doing GCSE's and A levels currently we won't be moving out for another 3 years when they can start uni there. I am just about to start a Masters in Health Visiting with a 2 year work contract after that. Is there much demand for health visitors in and around Sydney? (I have 23 years post reg experience as an RGN but my current role does not involve clinical practice which is why I've opted for HV).
