189 Visa Lodged Gang

Hey mate! If you completed your masters in London, it shouldn't be a problem as long as your qualifications have been positively assessed by the relevant authorities for skilled migration purposes. However if you had completed your course in Australia for a min of 2 years, you would have been able to claim an extra 5 points thanks to the Australian Study Requirement. I assume, to be eligible, you must have a min. of 8 band score in each of the modules of IELTS to be able to claim 20pts with Superior English??

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot kurvyy, You have been really helpful. I have 8,8.5,9, 8.5 in IELTS. I guess I am good to go :D Cheers mate

Time to celebrate - we received email confirmation today that our 189 visa application has been granted!

For the record, our timeline for application was:

Skills Assessment Lodged: 25th Feb 2012

Skills Assessment Completed (VETASSESS): 11th Jan 2013

IELTS (9,9,8.5,9): 16th Feb 2013

EOI Lodged on Skillselect: 18th Feb 2013

Invitation received: 5th Mar 2013

189 Application completed: 16th Mar 2013

Case Officer Assigned: 23rd Apr 2013

Meds done: 14th May 2013

Police certs received: 24th May 2013

Visa Grant: 27th May 2013

We waited until the CO asked before booking meds and police checks, otherwise I am sure the timeline would have been even quicker than it was.

The biggest hurdle by far was the Skills assessment which was held up for months trying to obtain an Official Transcript from a University for a course I did before they started to maintain computerised records......

Everything done bar form 80. Completed but need to find scanner for 2 x 18 page documents (so frustrating you have to print, sign and scan them back in). I keep nagging hubbie and he has to scan them by hook or by crook tomorrow as we can't hace a situation where meds are finalised but they are missing this final form. I worry we will get a decline from DIAC just because they are missing these forms.

Form 80 may or may not be requested by the CO. This is not mandatory.
