  1. Hi, I am planning to move my UK final Salary Scheme Pension over to Australia - I just have a couple of questions. 1. I understand that there is a $540K limit for 'bring forward' non-concessional contributions, any monies above this will be taxed at 46.5% - am I correct ? 2. Any transfer must be into a QROPS scheme ? 3. Any monies in the new scheme cannot be accessed for 5-10 years without a UK tax liability ? 4. Can I start a SMSF with my new Australian Super fund - I would like to build property ? 5. Will the HMRC come after me for this ? Any help greatly appreciated. Cheers
  2. Totally get the qualification on any basis, sport, science culture or any other reason including those who qualify because they are refugees. Fast tracking citizenship because the aussie cricket team is rubbish right now ??? no different from the zola budd thing in the uk they didnt have a decent female runner (at the time) !!! What about being fair to those who have worked towards this in australia for years - totally demotivating for those who have dedicated themselves when some guy turns up and takes a place away. :-)
  3. Hmmm, seems i should have concentrated on sport at school because this is a quick way to citizenship. Maybe the four years studying at university and the fifteen years post graduate experience were a waste of time. On top of that the expense of getting a 189 visa and the eighteen months agony and wait. Oh and the four years after arrival before i can apply for citizenship. Rant over. Wonder if this guy has managed to pass the citizenship test as well, can he even spell australia ?? Seems i got it all wrong after all :-) ho-hum.

  12. Great news Kathy, congratulations. We were referred 11/03/13, hopefully won't be long for us now :-) We are with Adelaide Team 2. Tony
  13. Guess the turnaround time is luck of the draw. We have been referred since early march, seems it might be a while yet. Anyone spoken got Global Health / MOC to get an idea of which month they are 'currently' processing Barnsey
  14. Thanks for the reply coastie. Might have to fight this a little more. EA stated that i had (via the CDR route) displayed all of the competencies of a PE, however couldnt award PE because i have a BSC and not a BENG. Dont think it will make a difference professionally but i didnt work for over 15 years, excluding uni time to be an Eng Tech (no offence to other Eng Tech's). Weird that the CEng didnt help either. Barnsey
  15. Well done Coastie, but how did you manage to get PE without a degree ?? Guess it was the CDR route ?? I am a Control and Automation Engineer with 15 years experience (but a BSC software engineering degree). They assessed me as a Eng Tech - and wouldnt budge because i dont have an 'Engineering' degree. I had to use the CDR route and couldnt change their mind. I am a chartered engineer in the UK, but this made little or no difference. Would love to know how you managed it. Barnsey
  16. Agreed all points above, to his credit (or the least he could do) he did personally call Ivanovic and apologise. He (to his credit) accepted. Twitter account was only to further apologise to everyone else. Love to see him sacked, but really would you throw away a 45-50 Million Pound asset. Principles dont count where this much money is concerned. :-( About 7/8 match ban will be right.
  17. Hi all, does anyone have an update on the status of Byford. Was meant to re-open to new animals by 31st May. Dont want to have to send the dog to sydney !! thanks Barnsey
  18. Hi, we did our medicals at the spire shawfair in march - they take a digital picture. Just need your passport and referral letter. Good Luck Barnsey
  19. Hi Freckleface, I'm moving to Perth in the next few months. Looking for some advice converting my CV to Aussie. Thanks Tony TMCV3.doc TMCV3.doc
  20. Thanks Embassy, same goes for you !!! Good Luck !! Where are you heading once you get the grant ?? We are all going to Perth. Barnsey
  21. Could go mental waiting for the MOC to sort out the wife's medical. CO says its all good to go except that !!!! Referred for post-natal depression 15 years ago !!! We supplied a letter from the GP to say all was ok. Been a month now since referral. *sigh*
  22. Nope, you must go to the ACPO website for a proper background check. Application form can be downloaded.
  23. Hi, i had a similar problem with EA although i applied under the CDR route. I applied for the Plant or Production Engineer (233513, Automation and Control Specialism). Even though they agreed my degree was directly relevant and they also acknowledged my 14 years of experience the refused to grant me the 233513. They flatly refused to grant me the 233513 and instead granted me the Engineering Technologist (233914) on the grounds that my degree was a BSC and not a BEng. Mental !! Anyway, in answer to your question i dont believe that it makes any difference for visa purposes. You can apply for state sponsorship and EOI as an Engineering Technologist. Your CV will tell the story of your career. I have already secured a job in WA prior to moving in october. I believe its just a means to an end. Cheers Barnsey
  24. Utterly pathetic slagging her now she's dead. You have all had 20 years since she quit politics. Get a life !!
