  1. What he said :-) It's also less evidence to collect for DIBP although I guess most will have to be gathered at skill assessment stage anyway
  2. If you can manage to get 20 points for English you should get to 60 without any points for experience. That would make the process much simpler in my opinion
  3. Sorry, can't help you with that. Might be worth phoning them, I believe they're quite approachable.
  4. You'll need to check what anzsco code your role falls under and see what body assesses your qualifications and experience. If you need points for english ability you'll need to sit an exam for that. I did PTE - they have a centre in Edinburgh.
  5. Can't help you with the skill assessment process for nurses I'm afraid. Each occupation is unique in that respect. As an accountant mine took less than a week but not many are that quick.
  6. We started the process in August 2015 and got our visas in March 2016 but this can vary wildly.
  7. Why would you possibly want to leave Scotland - wall to wall sunshine here.... You'll probably find sponsorship if difficult to obtain so skilled migration would be best route. Google a points test calculator to check you can get to 60 points in your field for age, qualifications, english ability, experience...
  8. I used hifx a few times a while back and am sure I never did a bacs, always debit card...
  9. Do the money transfer companies not accept card payments so you might not need to make a bacs, just give them your debit card number ?
  10. Those card readers can be a pain. I realise they improve security but sometimes it seems so difficult to access your money. I can't help you about any Australian banks using them but I believe you can transfer to a payee that is already setup without needing a card reader with RBS ? Not sure if this would work for you but could you transfer to trustworthy person to then forward it on. On the plus side if your transfer is delayed and it's a remain vote you'll likely win out of the delay...
  11. We also considered doing a trip before hand but decided it was just another 5k cost to the whole process and would it really give us a true picture of what life would be like living there permanently ? My wife and I had a 12 month working holiday about 10 years ago so although things will have changed substantially at least we aren't going into the complete unknown.
  12. My CPA skill assessment is valid for 3 years. My PTE result is valid for 2 years however the DIBP website clearly states you can use a result from 36 months prior to the time you were invited to apply. Have you considered continuing with your application, then when you make your visit you will activate your visa, meaning you could then potentially take a further 4 years to move the move permanently ? The downside of this is obviously the cost of going through the whole process if you aren't completely sure you will eventually make the move....
  13. I don't nornally get involved in these should I / shouldn't I type threads but.......... You could potentially lose much more if the house market 'corrects' during your 2 years (as many people expect it to) leaving you with a house you are forced to sell quickly, for much less than you paid, as your TR visa dictates you must leave. I am moving over as a PR visa holder later this year but am fully prepared to rent for a while until I am more knowledgeable about the housing market before making such a huge investment.
  14. What about all the indirect taxes they pay ? Or do they just send the 23k 'back home' ? Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  15. I might be wrong but I believe you might need so many posts before being able to PM ? It's not many, maybe 4 or 5.....
  16. I had to send syllabus details and my ACCA full membership was enough to pass the new requirements. Although the modules within ACCA change occasionally I am sure you will have covered all required areas if your study was fairly recent.
  17. I doubt very much that they would care about our feelings. If DIBP are finding that those obtaining skilled visas are not fulfilling the skill shortages as they have no experience then surely they could enforce it ?
  18. I got in with 60 so keep believing......
  19. Will be interesting to see if they add some other form of criteria - post qualification experience, for example ? As far as I know, accountancy is one of the few occupations that you don't need this for a positive skill assessment

  21. Just 'get their act together' in general or with regards to applying for a visa...... Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  22. That's a huge percentage - had I known that before I may not have DIY'd myself !! I did speak to an agent before DIYing (although an employee of a registered person I'm not sure wether they were registered themselves ?) and felt after a good chat that I was happy to go on my own. Obviously having taken that decision I had to be happy that the risk of failure may increase but my main concern was being able to spend ALOT of time studying MY situation rather than having to rely on someone else doing so. If someone doesn't have that time then I would definitely recommend using a registered agent.
