  1. From what I've read on this forum you might only get a RRV if you can show ties to Australia - job, home, family as you have been away for so long. Also, it is unlikely you will be granted another 5 years - more likely to be 1 year. If you haven't moved back after that 1 year would they then grant you another year ? I would doubt it..... Someone else may be able to confirm ? It might be worth consulting a MA as you could potentially lose your PR. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  2. If you don't get an email then log into your skill select account and check there
  3. My sister sat her exams around that period. Her paperwork is in the office - I'll have a look this morning incase there's anything that might be of help. It was with ICAS but I'll check anyway.....
  4. I've never heard of that being a problem before. Could you find old syllabus info and send it to confirm you have covered it ?
  5. How on earth do you get to that figure ? Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  6. The Accountants skill assessment is very straightforward. They should tell you that your CIMA is equivalent to bachelor degree meaning 15 points. My ACCA was. CPA have reciprocal agreement with CIMA which should make things even simpler. They will also assess skilled employment at the same time giving you confidence any points claimed for employment are accurate before submitting your EOI, therefore reducing the chance of a problem when DIBP assess the points claimed further in the process.
  7. Probably just avoiding the subject as it's so hard for them to talk about it. My family hardly ever mention it.....
  8. I laid the seed early on in the process - at that point I genuinely didn't know if I could get the visa so just said we were looking into the possibility. As I went through each stage I would keep them informed. Although this perhaps gave them time to get used to the idea I felt it also prolonged the agony of having to tell them it was definitely happening. I work with my family and see them all every day so my leaving will leave a big hole in their everyday life. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  9. Flights booked for 29th December !! Thanks - hope you get some good news soon.....
  10. We would have preferred Brisbane but willing to give NSW a chance. My only concern is the cost of living in Sydney (my wife is a stay at home mum so it's only my salary) and the lack of jobs elsewhere in the state.
  11. Yes I did. Although looking back I think I was extremely lucky ! I was in the same position that all my experience was pre qualification so got zero points for it.
  12. I read somewhere that there may be changes to the points system this year. It was suggested, amongst other things, they will give more weighting to English ability so you might find you work your way up the queue. I don't think there has been anything official from DIBP so we'll need to wait and see.....
  13. Sorry to be blunt, but I think you know already that you have zero chance with 55+5 points. Currently even 65+5 are facing a nervous wait for a NSW invite. Increasing your points is your only chance..... Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  14. What are the rules as to who can/can't vote ? I'm emigrating in December and almost feel like I shouldn't be voting as I won't be around to feel the long term effects (although I will still vote) FWIW I am voting to remain although it's more for selfish reasons as I'll be transferring GBP from our house sale at the end of the year. I also don't want to give SNP ammunition for another bloody independence referendum but that's another story !!!
  15. Just wait for the 'waiting for an invite wait' or the 'waiting for a case officer wait' or the 'waiting for a grant email wait' It's torture !!!
  16. 13 April results are up and another 115 places were filled. 70 pointers who applied up to 2 April got the invite. That leaves 575 places (5 rounds at 115 places perhaps ?) There is a slight backlog even for people with 70 points so it might mean that those applying with 70 points in the last month of the year may not get a 189 invite so they would rely on accountants being included next year (or go for a 190)
  17. I'm not sure exactly how it works - it may be you could be waiting for months or longer then all of a sudden receive an invite. Someone else may be able to assist more with this. All I know is there is a possibility..... Are your 70 points including 5 for state sponsorship ?
  18. They did have 60 but was updated to 70 recently. Even with 70 the chances are probably slim.....
  19. Is your occupation on the DIBP CSOL ? If so, you might have a chance. This is from NSW website. Throughout the 2015-16 financial year NSW will also select and invite a limited number of the highest scoring skilled candidates in occupations from the broader DIBP CSOL.***Selection under this stream will be determined on an ongoing basis and limited to occupations where there is labour market demand. 20. Those with 70 points were invited up till 15 March. I think about 115 were invited. There was another round yesterday and again it looks like only 70 pointers and above were invited. Thise stats aren't out yet but looks like it was capped at 115 again...
  21. Good luck Not sure if it can done on mobile devices but online if you go to settings at top of page then choose edit signature from the options down the left hand side.
  22. Thanks for your thoughts. I have been considering it since I got my PR last month.....
