Did your husband feel this would increase his employment prospects ? Or is there another reason for studying CPA ? I was considering doing the same but having just gone through my ACCA during the last 3 years while working full time and with a young family I wasn't sure if the extra effort was necessary....

Hi It sounds like your husband would have the best chance of getting a visa, as he would get more points for being under 40 and would also get points for experience if he has a degree to be assessed with. Also as said above the accountant category is extremely competitive meaning 65-70 points are needed at the moment whereas your husband may only need 60. This is assuming his occupation is on the SOL. I believe construction project manager is so if his duties matched that he would be ok.

I asked ACCA for this and they sent it no problem. I needed it for CPA assessment as I had only just passed my final exam so didn't have my certificate through yet. I'm surprised ICAEW don't provide this - considering what you pay them each year for the privilege !! Hopefully someone else can advise you if it would be successful without the letter of good standing.....or if they have been able to get it from ICAEW or ICAS..... Mgmt and General both fall under same class. There are spaces left for both under 189 so if you can get 70 points you would get invited under either. I would hope the assessing body would advise if you were better suited to the other category. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

Well done ! I was more nervous opening that email than any of my accountant exams I sat for some crazy reason.

The stats haven't been announced officially yet but I look on another forum (don't think I can say the name) and going by people posting on it noone with 65 points got an invite. That suggests they reduced the invites hugely. Makes sense as the whole point of pro rata is so people with high points applying right at the end can still get in. Not sure if you saw but the last round of invites was reduced substantially for accountants so if they keep it at the lower level between now and June it would mean the ceiling won't be reached early. Ask for the letter and if it isnt with you by the time you pass your english exam apply for skills assessment without it by sending your certificate. Have you considered assessment with ICAA ? They may approve your ICAEW with certificate alone ? Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

I got a letter of good standing - basically saying i was paid up and hadn't been struck off. I had only just passed so didn't have my certificate to send. I also asked them for an exam transcript which detailed actual exams passed and scores in each. Finally I sent a syllabus detail of each exam that I have from my study notes - not sure if it was needed or not. Have you sat your English exam ? Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

Yes if your partner can pass the skill assessment and meets any requirements set on the CSOL for Victoria you can claim the extra points. You may find the agent doesn't want to give out too much helpful information free of charge so you then go off and do it yourself. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

I understood the question to be asking if you need to be in the country for all 365 days for that year to count towards citizenship. My comment suggested you wouldn't lose the whole year if you missed 5 days. Is it correct that the other 360 would go towards your total requirement over the 4/5 year period ?

Correct. Satisfying the 4 out of 5 alone isnt enough to leave and return however, he would need to have citizenship that the 4 out of 5 entities him to (or if he didnt want citizenship then a RRV) as his 189 no longer exists.

Only need a RRV if your 189 has expired and don't have citizenship yet.

If your 189 has expired and you haven't fulfilled the citizenship requirements you would need to apply for a RRV visa if you wanted to leave and return at any time. If you didn't have any need to leave Australia I assume you would be able to stay in Australia until you met the citizenship requirements - then there would be no need for a RRV. Anyone answering that question would be basically having a guess so I'm not sure how useful an answer would be For what it's worth my guess would be those with 65+5 with 20 points for English WILL get an invite for NSW. Those with 65+5 with 10 points for English may just make it before the end of the year

You don't need any experience to pass the accountants skill assessment so if you cover all the necessary subjects your degree alone is enough to pass. If you don't meet all the requirements the assessing bodies offer the chance to study that area with them to clear it. Without experience though you may not get enough points to get a visa as there is currently a backlog of 65 point applicants waiting for an invite. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

In my opinion the English test is a huge advantage to native speakers as with a bit of preparation it can mean a fairly easy 20 points. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

The duties listed are more of a clerical / administrative role. I would imagine the chances of securing such roles are much greater than if your wife was looking for more senior accountancy roles. I wish you both the best of luck.
