  1. I used CPA however I don't see how getting her skills assessed would help with a job search as it is designed for the purpose of obtaining PR, not looking for a job afterwards. Asking them about being able to transfer her ACCA to CPA may be of benefit however I'm not familiar with what qualifications employers prefer. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  2. There are some states who will only offer nomination for certain occupations if you have a job offer so it's wise to look through each state's website. Not sure about IT but just to point out that the rule for one state or occupation doesn't necessarily apply to them all. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  3. I paid for the gold practice kit available from PTE which was about £30 from memory. It gives you numerous practice questions and 2 mock tests which was well worth it. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  4. You can sit PTE in Edinburgh. I went to sit last August but the computers were down. Instead of waiting a month for the next Edinburgh exam I went to Newcastle the following week. The centre in Newcastle was brilliant - would definitely recommend it. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  5. Your ICAEW would pass the assessment for external auditor so that would be another option to look into. I was lucky to get a NSW 190 invite as external auditor with 60 + 5 points back in November but I don't think any 60 pointers have been invited since.
  6. Going by recent invites you would likely need 65 points before including the 5 you get for state nomination to get a NSW invite. That could obviously change in the coming months. I looked into NT and remember reading somewhere that NT don't like giving out 190s as people could get the visa then never bother going to NT. For that reason they may only give out 489. Not sure about Tasmania. Is you 190 with ACT as a management consultant still a possibility?
  7. Your application would be refused as with 60 points you would not have received the invite.
  8. If you can't get credit for your experience, 60 points is not going to be enough in the accountant category. If you could get to 65 points you may get an invite for a 190 visa with NSW with superior English - does your partner have a qualification that could be assessed to gain an extra 5 points ? A 190 visa with ACT sounds like it is an option - many people suggest the commitment to the state sponsoring you is not a legally binding one, more of a moral requirement, however you may like to look into that more yourself if ACT didn't particularly appeal to you. The 190 route has a few more hurdles to clear (commitment statement to ACT, proof that jobs exist etc) but it may be your best/only option.
  9. I think mgreaves got his work experience assessed so hopefully he'll be able to help more.... Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  10. Can't help you there I'm afraid as I didn't claim any work experience points. When you apply for your skills assessment you can have your experience assessed at the same time. You may not need to work as an out and out accountant to pass under the 'general accountant' category ? As far as I know you need to provide contracts, payslips, employer reference if possible. Someone who had their skills assessed may be able to offer more help. If there are any doubts, an initial consultation with a migration agent might be worth the money even if you then decide to do it on your own. I decided to do it on my own as not claiming experience made it much simpler.
  11. No need to upload anything. The medical centre will send what they need to directly to your CO. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  12. If there was a requirement I would imagine it would need to be proved at nomination process, not during 190 lodgement. NSW does not have any requirement - which state did you get nominated by ? Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  13. I'd be amazed if ICAEW or ICAS didn't cover everything. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  14. That's great news. I'm ACCA and didn't need to do anymore exams - sent them my certificate, copy of exam transcripts and letter of good standing. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  15. True I'm going on the basis that the whole point of pro-rata is to ensure the ceiling isn't reached early but like you say, logic seems to go out the window at times. To sns - Get things done asap as the future isn't clear at all.
  16. I'm assuming they drop invites back to lower levels to ensure the ceiling isn't reached early. Who knows ?
  17. Hi again :-) I paid for the gold practice kit you can buy online - think it was about £30. It was well worth it to familiarise yourself with the format of the test. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  18. Not sure about this as I didn't claim any work experience points. If your part time was 20 hours or more then that time still counts. Can you get to 8 years with your full time pre maternity and part time post maternity ? Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk
  19. Yes you would need your skill assessment done before EOI (and your english test if you are claiming english points) The skill assessment for CAs is very simple compared to most occupations There is a chance accountants are removed so if you can get your EOI submitted in the next couple of months then with 70 points you should get an invite immediately Good luck
  20. If I remember the question correctly you were given the choice of "whether you have old passport details or not." I still had my old passport which had my WHV from 10 years ago so I put it in. I don't believe it would have made any difference if I had left it out.
  21. It looks like it is averaging around 3 weeks for CO to come back to a case so it could be very soon that you will hear back from them You could still do your medicals in the meantime as they would still be valid if you had to relodge - having said that you are paying your agent for their advice so you should probably do as the suggest

It's an option to consider anyway. One thing to remember is even a permanent resident visa is only valid for 5 years so you would need to make the permanent move within that time or go thorough the whole application again. Good luck. Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

It would only be possible with a PR visa (189,190) as an employer sponsored visa would expect you to move immediately.

Have you considered applying for a visa now (if possible), activating the visa when you visit next year, then giving you the option of moving permanently a few years down the line with a visa already in place ?
  25. If you can get enough points (60) to apply for a 189 then this avoids any complications (and extra cost) of getting sponsored by a state. If you only have 55 then you will need the extra 5 which can be achieved through state sponsorship. You must achieve the sponsorship before applying for a 190 visa so you wouldn't be parting with the visa application money until state sponsorship has been approved. I hope this helps.
