  1. Hi all Same position really, have a relative in a designated area and going in as an accountant. I have not applied for a 489 as yet, but put in my EOI in Dec with 65 points, so i am in a bit of pickle - do i go for the long wait and hope for the 189 or do i put in another EOI for 489 My only concern is how long it takes to get invited on 489 family sponser, does anyone have a time frame? @Daniel127, the ceiling for accountants is down to 2500 i think external auditor is about 1200, to be honest the minimum requirement to get a 189 is about 70 points, there is about an 8-9 month back log for 65 points and who knows for 60 points, this is for a general accountant. Is there anything you an do to increase your points eg: better english test score?
  2. I got my skills assessed by the icaa. As i believe they have an agreement with the iceaw. I sent off my letter of good standing, copies of certification, results and degree all as pdf. Came back in a few weeks. Assuming your an icaew full member/fully qualified it would be worth checking out the icaa process Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk
  3. Does anyone know, when they are assessing skills do they take it from the point of admission as a member of the accounting body or from the point of exam completion. The reason I ask is that I passed all my ICAEW exams in august but being rather lazy only got my paper work in place the following January for to be admitted as a full member. So this will mean a 6 month difference between getting 70 points Thanks
  4. Yes just my skills, I didn't get my experience done by them as they can only form an opinion, not give an actual decision , which is done by DIAC. Well that is my understanding of it. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
  5. I used the ICAA due to their agreement with the ICAEW, very easy 2 page form. Email that with a few supporting documents, such as, letter of good standing, certificate and exam pass details. Got it all back in about 10 days. Sent from my SM-T800 using Tapatalk
  6. Super! Thanks for the help Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks maggiemay. It would be treat if could confirm whether the visa also works on a points system. Eg additional points for sponsorship? I am wondering whether it will be worth setting up a new eoi for this visa considering the 189 is capped for me Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk
  8. She lives in Perth. Not 100% on the post code Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk
  9. Thats right id like to add more points. As accountants are capped and it is becoming a long wait. So just looking how to max out my points Sent from my LG-H955 using Tapatalk
  10. Hi all Just a quick question, i cant find an answer anywhere and would like to put this to bed I have a sister already in Aussi as perm resident - Is there any way she can sponser me or add any points to my application if i were to go down the perm route? Thanks
  11. HI All As this thread is probably the most positive lately about accountants with lower scores - 60 to 65 points, I was just wondering whether anyone knows at what level accountants invites were given out yesterday, obviously it has been at 70 points for a fair few months, and hopefully with all the above predictions we may well be on 65!
  12. Funny you should mention the 190, I have just updated my EOI to include it. Do you know how they select applicants for the 190 and if there is any information on invites like the 189 visa Yeah I have a young family, but no actual ties here, so moving may be a bit tricky with them but I'm in a fortunate position to have close family and friends in Perth, heard Brisbane is awesome, again have some school friends there and they can't get enough of it.
  13. Hi Mikee I submitted my EOI on 17/12/15 for a 189 visa with 65 points, the unfortunate thing for me is that I have applied as an Accountant and they are currently only inviting 70 points, but the rumours on the site is that they may start inviting applicants with 65 points, always looking for good news! So i am hoping that I will get an invite over the next few months. Hopefully the wait won't put to much stress on me  Plan will be to move to Perth, I have family and friends there already
  14. HI Captain Thanks for the clarification
  15. HI All My wife grew up in Zimbabwe and worked in South Africa before coming over to the UK just under 7 years ago, I am currently waiting on my invite and would like to get the ball rolling on requesting a Police clearance (they take forever from that part of the world), but just a bit stumped on which country to get the clearance from April 2009 - to date -UK - Get clearance say 7 years (if application in April 16) Jan 2008 - April 09 - South Africa - On a 2 year work visa Jan 2006 - Dec 07 - South Africa - Study visa, commuting back to Zimbabwe to see family during holidays My theory is that to cover the 10 year requirement would be - 7 years UK 1 yr 3 months years South Africa as working on a visa (note this is not residence) 1 yr 9 months Zimbabwe clearance - As a student in South Africa you do not live there but rather study Any ideas comments would be greatly appreciated Also is there any harm in getting more than 10 years i.e. rather than specific dates of each month just go from the earliest therefore may have 10 years and a month or so thanks
