  1. I heard today from 1st july they have lowered the scores to 6.5 instead of the 7 for the pass...maybe thats why?
  2. I had almost decided on the skilled 189 visa and now I am starting to wonder if the sponsored 457 visa would still be an option in the short run to initially get over to Aus quicker as we wouldn't been to save as much then we could apply for a perm one and continue to save up to pay the 189 skilled perm visa> Is this a bad idea? Could anyone give me some details on the bad side to the temp sponsored visa other than you are stuck in one region for work? I am just trying to get as much info and opinions on all options. Has any other people more so Nurses in Aus went over this way? I have done the points calculator and I need the IELTS too. Thank you in advance !
  3. Hey I am a Nurse and have been thinking about moving to Aus for the past 4 years with my husband and dog and have been to a good few expos and they are a waste of time. I decided to save up and go a mini backpacking trip to Aus and decide if it was for me so I am now in the process of saving up and gathering all the paper work I need for my skills assessment. I would say read up online about what you need to do to gain your Visa and have fun planning your adventure....good luck!
  4. I am just starting this whole process....is there any posts that detail the whole process and the order to do it in? IELTS exam, then AHPRA, then skills assessment then apply for visa? For AHPRA I need to get course syllabus, pharmacology clinical hours and academic transcripts sent from uni- do they send them to us so we can get them certified? A copy of a degree certificate/passport/driving licence/marriage licence/bank statement and credit card/Refrences covering 5 years,-all certified. A NMC statement of entry and NMC registration. Can we use the statement of entry on NMC online? Does the NMC send them directly ?Plus a signed CV and the fit2work criminal check. For ANMAC what is required for the proof for fitness to practice?
  5. I wouldn't know ...I am from Scotland  I have recently spoken to a few Aussies that have struggled with the English test ...I don't think it's just the UK who has issues with it?
  6. Hi I am currently looking to move to Aus 2017. I am currently researching the best places for me to work. I have 5 years ICU experience with post grad critical care cert (educated to degree level) I am currently working as a charge nurse in Apheresis nursing and this involves providing specialised thereputic treatments such as plasma exchange, photopheresis, red cell x and stem cell collection. I was hoping to find a post as an apheresis nurse in Australia. Would you be able to help? So far I have found great units in PeterMac and Austin hospital in Melbourne -there are 2 in NSW that I have also found. Thanks Lou
  7. I am currently started the process of the immigration work to gt over to Aus. I am taking lots of time to research the right area for work life balance. I am looking to move walking dis to a beach that allows dogs on them and I have found it hard to find many. I have recently just came back from a 3 week trip to Aus and I realised how much stricter it is with lots of things. Can anyone recommend areas between Melbourne up to the sunshine coast. I also need to factor in my job-I am looking to work in a decent sized hospital with one that provides the specialised treatments I do in Scotland so its a challenge but I have plenty of time to research this and do my best to get a happy medium Thanks for your help in advance!
  8. I have just got back from a 3 week trip from Aus and now the madness begins. I have just booked my ILETS test and I am starting to do my AHPRA paper work. My friend is currently going through the process and she has failed her ILETS test for a 2nd time and feeling frustrated...which makes me worry about the test. I find the whole English test a joke when you are born in a English speaking country !
  9. I want a house with 3 bedrooms! I am from.Glasgow so i am sure my rough is rough. I know toorak is way outa my budget but it was nice living the dream for a few days ??? we have no kids as yet but plan to settle and have a family in Auz some point next 3 years but initially we want to rent a house big enough for family friends to visit. I want to see if Melbourne is do able or maybe i need to consider somehwere less expensive so we can get a decent sized house
  10. I stayed with a friend in Toorak when I was over doing a reckie about where to move to. Now that was beautiful ....wow the mansions ! I really loved melbourne but I loved brisbane too....its tough trying to decide. What are the most affordable places near melbourne CBD but are not too far out or rough? Oh I liked chadstone great shopping centre! I was actually working with a new rep today who was from melbourne who is living in England and today my best mate gave a hitch hiker from Melbourne a lift to fort william...random!
  11. I am currently researching jobs in Aus similar to my roles here in Scotland. I am getting so confused by it all as there are some posts that are graded-eg Nurse consultant grades 1,2 and 3...then some don't have any? I have a degree and a post grad cert in critical care. I have over 5 years exp in ICU and apheresis nursing - therapeutic which is very specialised in Scotland. Are there any Apheresis nurses on this forum that work in Aus? Does it pay rates as good as ICU nursing? What are the best nursing recruitment sites in Aus? What private hospitals are good to work for? so many questions!
  12. My registration has been changed to my married name when I got married and so are all my bank details but my mortgage and drivers licence and passport are all in my maiden name still- my passport was only 1 year old when i got married so it was such a waste to pay for a new one !
  13. Sorry I am confused by your answer so did it cost you £2140 plus £1500 ? Thanks
