  1. How many other countries show debt on a police check? It's got to be pretty unusual surely, given debt is not a criminal matter.
  2. No, no progress! Money still hasn't been taken from my credit card. They've had it about 7 weeks now.
  3. Thanks guys. By basic I mean they don't have seat back TV's!! Which for a 14 hour flight is going to be quite challenging. They did get back to me though to say baggage allowance is 30kg not 23 so that's good. I found one way tickets from London to Sydney in June for £359, just in case anyone else needs to fly out on the cheap!
  4. Leaves Heathrow at 10:50pm and arrives Melbourne 2 days later at 7:20am (14 hour 15 min flight to Manila and 8 hour 10 min to Melbourne.) I'm under no illusions it'll be basic, but a long haul flight is a long haul flight I suppose, unless you're flying first class it's never going to be a pleasurable experience!
  5. Yes, with taxes, I wasn't going to book for another couple of weeks but I felt I couldn't wait on that price. Does anyone know if it IS 23kg baggage? I saw on a third party agent the ticket was advertised with 30kg but on the PA website it's not very clear.
  6. Hi Jacaranda, it was £415 for the one way which I thought was pretty good. Good flight times too, but I think only 23kg baggage.
  7. Hi, just wondered if anyone had any experience of Philippine Air? I've just booked with them and got a steal on a 1 way ticket from Heathrow to Melbourne. Last time I flew Royal Brunei and was keen to only have 1 connection this time rather than 2.
  8. You can use form 888 (doesn't matter if you are not an Australian citizen) and get it witnessed by a solicitor (my friend wrote me one and walked into a solictors who signed it for a fiver)
  9. Thanks, it's not a teacher job which is one thing, will see what they say in the interview tomorrow.
  10. Hi If a school job salary is $64,119 - $73,199 pro rata, full time contract from 11th May 15 to 31st Jan 16, what would the salary actually be?!
  11. My post from the other thread: Having just returned from Tasmania, I do have a little predicament now. I applied for a job at a school whilst here and they seem keen and have arrange a Skype interview for next week. They know the situation with my visa and how I will be entering on a WHV in preparation for my partner visa 309 being granted at the end of the year. However, they want the applicant to start 11th May (earlier than my intended date to return to oz which was early July) So my problem is I would need the partner visa to be granted before 11th Nov to satisfy the WHV condition of only working for an employer for 6 months - which is 10.5 months after I applied. Given that they are still working to 9 months, I'd say it may be possible but maybe not. I know No one can know for definate but anyone any thoughts? I enjoyed Tas but I will be moving to a small town of 650 people - good jobs in my area of work don't come up often.
  12. Hi I posted this on another thread and didn't receive any replies, but its quite important I understand if I can use it in my situation as it will affect if I can take a job or not. Basically can you use form 1445 if you have lodged an OFFSHORE partner visa? Please see below: http://www.immi.gov.au/forms/Documents/1445.pdf 'Request permission to work with an employer beyond 6 months on a Working Holiday or Work and Holiday visa' form The Department of Immigration and Border Protection (thedepartment) may give Working Holiday and Work and Holidayvisa holder’s permission to work for an employer beyond6 months where exceptional circumstances exist. Wherepermission is granted, it will generally be for a short period oftime (several days or weeks, not months).Exceptional circumstances must relate to an Australianpermanent resident, citizen or business and must beextraordinary and unforeseeable.Exceptional circumstances might include remaining in yourcurrent job for one of the following reasons: • for a very short time (days or weeks) as you are critical to thecompletion of a specialised project that has unexpectedlygone over time (this generally only relates to highly skilledactivities, such as a lawyer in the middle of a trial or a doctorwho plans to operate on a patient they have been treating); • performing disaster recovery work following a major disastersuch as clean-up, re-building or emergency managementactivities following a major flood; • remaining in your current job while a decision is being madeon an application for a visa which would allow you to continuefull-time work with your employer without leaving Australia, such as an application for a Temporary Business (Long Stay)visa or a Spouse visa. Note: For the department to take this information intoconsideration when assessing your employment extensionrequest, you must have lodged your visa application andmust be recorded in the department’s systems. Exceptional circumstances do not include remaining in yourcurrent job because you: • have the required skills or because of labour shortages; • are required to complete a project in a job that is not highlyskilled eg. retail or administration; • have applied or intend to apply for a visa which requires youto leave Australia at the time of grant eg. Skilled visa subclasses175, 176 and 475; So the first bold part indicated it can but the second bold part sort of contradicts that as it is an offshore partner visa I have lodged. Thanks
  13. Crikey its a long time isn't it, fingers crossed there's no problems and nothing gets delayed! It's a shame the channelers can't be used by non us citizens - they can get the clearance back in less than a week apparently.
  14. Anyone know if id be able to use the form 1445 for the above situation? Thanks
  15. Below is pulled from acro website so looks like driving licence can't be used, if you've just moved surely you'll have your new council tax bill at least? [h=2]Proofs of address[/h]It is important that you provide copies of TWO different official proofs of your current address which must clearly show your name and address, and must both be dated within the last six months. The documents must be saved on your computer to be uploaded electronically. Valid proofs of address include: Bank statements Utility bills Phone bills Letter from your doctor or dentist Letter from your school or college Letters from your doctor, dentist, school or college should be signed and dated on company headed paper.
  16. Looks like we sent them off around the same time Silverchair, keep us updated as to when your payment gets taken!
  17. Thanks, I think I would move out earlier if it meant getting this job - but my predicament about the 6 months on WHV expiring before my partner visa is granted is worrying me. I found this: http://www.immi.gov.au/forms/Documents/1445.pdf 'Request permission to work with an employerbeyond 6 months on a Working Holiday orWork and Holiday visa' form and it states: Extending the work condition on a Working Holiday orWork and Holiday visaThe Department of Immigration and Border Protection (thedepartment) may give Working Holiday and Work and Holidayvisa holder’s permission to work for an employer beyond6 months where exceptional circumstances exist. Wherepermission is granted, it will generally be for a short period oftime (several days or weeks, not months).Exceptional circumstances must relate to an Australianpermanent resident, citizen or business and must beextraordinary and unforeseeable.Exceptional circumstances might include remaining in yourcurrent job for one of the following reasons: • for a very short time (days or weeks) as you are critical to thecompletion of a specialised project that has unexpectedlygone over time (this generally only relates to highly skilledactivities, such as a lawyer in the middle of a trial or a doctorwho plans to operate on a patient they have been treating); • performing disaster recovery work following a major disastersuch as clean-up, re-building or emergency managementactivities following a major flood; • remaining in your current job while a decision is being madeon an application for a visa which would allow you to continuefull-time work with your employer without leaving Australia, such as an application for a Temporary Business (Long Stay)visa or a Spouse visa.Note: For the department to take this information intoconsideration when assessing your employment extensionrequest, you must have lodged your visa application andmust be recorded in the department’s systems. Skilled visa subclasses175, 176 and 475; • are not able to apply for another kind of visa. The first bold part kind of implies as I have a lodged spouse visa application I may be eligible but then the last bold part kind of doesn't as it was an offshore application.
  18. Thanks macca, yes it's very steep! I'm just keeping my fingers crossed the sets I provided are ok otherwise the timeframe gets very tight.
  19. Getting a bit worried about my FBI clearance - I sent it on the 10th March and was received a week later. They still haven't taken the payment. How do they contact you if something is wrong? Email or post?
  20. Having just returned from Tasmania, I do have a little predicament now. I applied for a job at a school whilst here and they seem keen and have arrange a Skype interview for next week. 21. Only stat decs need to be witnessed and certified, evidence such as passports etc do not need to be, if you upload a colour scan online
  22. Thanks for the info everyone. It's a pain but may as well make the most of a mandatory little holiday! Bloody expensive this visa lark
  23. My co rang me up to introduce himself, is that unusual?
  24. Hi guys, I am currently in Tas visiting my other half and seeing my future new home. I'm due to move here in July on a WHV while waiting for my offshore partner visa to be granted, expected in December of this year. When the visa is ready to be granted, will I get an email saying in x amount of days I need to be out the country for 3 days? Or do I get a grant email and have x amount of validity period to get out? Basically would like it know how much notice you get - I'm applying for jobs while I'm here and wouldn't be ideal to have to take 3 business days off at the very last minute. Thanks
