  1. Congrats pookie, were you expecting the 100 or just 309? I'm assuming I'll just get 309 because we are just shy of 3 years but 100 would be a fantastic surprise!
  2. Thanks for the info. After all the visas fees/medicals/expenses/police check fees, the last thing I can afford is a bloody holiday!
  3. Is there an exact length of time you have to go offshore for in order to get the new visa activated? I have read it's 3 days but does it HAVE to be 3 days? 3 full days? 3 working days? Anyone any experience of going out of Australia for less time than this?
  4. Has anyone had their FBI check processed lately? What kind of timescale are they working to? Was hoping the backlog may have been cleared but it's probably just getting bigger! They have had a set of mine for nearly 8 weeks now, and another set for 6-7 weeks (sent 2 to try and make sure at least one gets accepted!) Still not had credit card charged, hoping it's not going to take 16 weeks again
  5. Try living in Tassie...Melbourne is tropical to us
  6. Great to see some grants, but if that timescale keeps up I definitely won't have my fbi pcc back by the time mines due to be granted!! Which is soooo annoying, it takes so long and I'm delaying it even more!!
  7. Also, my police check is taking 14 weeks. If I had applied for it in June as requested, and then fingerprints get rejected (which it did), and have to start another 14 week process, youd be waiting much longer than 10 months of so for the grant. I applied for the pcc in March and still no closer to knowing if I have an acceptable set of fingerprints in the fbis hands
  8. Me and my partner have never had a joint account, and he didn't work for a long time while we were living together (so there were no transfers to my account) Not in each other's wills etc. But surely if you have been living together for a couple of years... You can provide something? We had both our names on the car insurance, gas, electric, water bills etc. Our landlord wrote a statement to say we both lived there. Our situation was explained in both our statements (forgot what the forms called) We had proof of holidays together, our dog ownership papers, each other's 3 month personal bank statements highlighting certain stuff etc etc. So how long have you lived together? And why 20 month wait for a CO?
  9. Who is waiting onshore? I am...trying to persuade other half on a trip to Bali or Fiji..! But more than likely NZ..wonder if it'll be October, November, December or even later! Wish I could just book it!
  10. Granted, I have no idea how long a 457 takes. But I do know I had to pay for the quarantine space months before my dog flew here. I guess the OP could always rearrange the quarantine if no visa by the time he is due to leave (although would then have to make arrangements from Melbourne one as Sydney would be closed) I guess it's a difficult call about when to do what!
  11. Why would the quarantine or airline care about anyone's visa? They deal with the animals as cargo and have nothing to do with the owners. Think the posters getting a bit of unnecessary stick here. They would have been preparing to get their dog out for months. Wait for the grant and then start the long dog shipping process, or do it all in good time and time it so the dog is released at the same time they should arrive?!
  12. We have our dog back now and he is settling in well, we had to get him from Sydney to Tassie too (via the ferry!) He is doing fine though, had lost a lot of weight though so feed him up before you go!
  13. Hi Jen, if you are under 31, you could go on the Working Holiday Visa, then you could work too. That's what I have done while waiting for the grant
  14. I definitely didn't have the door open or anyone listening to me peeing! And definitely wasn't naked at any point either.
  15. When I applied my partner and I had lived together for just over a year but had no joint accounts, no joint lease, no joint assets etc, only provided 1 statutory declaration, didn't really have a mountain of evidence. My CO has approved everything provided and just waiting now! I think the onslaught of mundane repetitive questions in the application is designed to make you suffer a breakdown through frustration and think 'can I really do this?!?' Just perservere, would think being together for 5 years and married too you won't have any problems!
  16. It says both no action required, and do not contact the department about health examinations in the meantime, surely that clarifies you don't need to do anything?
  17. It's not an email address just for sending in documents though. My CO told me to email that address if needed to get in touch. So when I left the UK I emailed him saying I had left. I then got the auto message above, saying it was for docs only and specifically "Any visa and citizenship enquiries sent to this mailbox will not be actioned" so you can see why people get confused! The day after I got that auto email, I got an email back from my CO.
  18. No they aren't allowed walks, visits, toys etc. We didn't use pet air, be prepared for a loooong and very expensive process. Even if you are only thinking at this stage, get his rabies jabs done just in case, if you haven't already. We got the email today from quarantine saying he is OK, also mentioned about increasing his food (he weighs 11 stone!) I would say take him with you, it's definitely the lesser of two evils I think. It is horrendously expensive though! The things we do for our dogs hey
  19. Our dog arrived in Sydney this morning, I have called to see if he is ok but just told to wait for an email update within 24 hours! How bad is that?. Our dog sounds similar to yours, he is very anxious and hates being alone or in new situations. I have spent a long time wether we have done the right thing putting him through that. But at the end of the day, I could never get rid of him, and a couple of weeks of upset for him will only be a tiny part of his whole life. Cruel to be kind and all that!
  20. What's the go on being named on a mortgage whilst waiting for a 309? Do you have to wait for it to be granted?
  21. Yes it was immigration in Melbourne, was in a massive rush to make my connection flight and ended up in the wrong passport line by accident :err: was lucky I arrived when I did, the following day all flights arriving to Launceston were cancelled due to the weather!
  22. So I have arrived in Tassie. Mank weather! Woman at immigration yelled at me for being in Aussie passport only queue, didn't say anything about ticking 'migrating permantly' box on landing card or just 1 way ticket. Been applying for jobs but think I'll find it harder until I get the 309.
  23. Thanks for the links Silverchair, I went to the local police station this morning and they did me a few sets (for free) - they told me over the phone it was 72 pounds for one set which is why I didn't go there in the first place! And I sent them off to FBI today. To me, they don't look much different to the prints I sent last time. I'm not very confident now after last ones were rejected. Can't afford to wait another 4 months if these ones are rejected as well! I really need to have them done electronically but no idea where?? My problem is I leave for Oz on Sunday to a tiny town in Tassie, where I am sure the likelihood of me finding somewhere to do fingerprints electronically is pretty much nil. Is there any way to use a FBI Channeller, even if you aren't a US Citizen or PR? Will they really know the difference if I tick the 'yes' box instead of no?!
  24. My automated acknowledgement email said 9-12 months but next correspondence from CO said 10-14
  25. I lived in New York from 2009-12, proper pain in the arse getting this check though, crazy an organisation like the FBI take 3-4 months whereas my UK one came back within a week!
