  1. Haha small world, my bf had an interview there before Christmas but didn't get the job!! He's gone back to Oz now, been 5 weeks since he went...are you the australian in the relationship or your bf?
  2. Hi elzawelza only just seen this sorry, I'm in Chesterfield so not too far from you! Good luck getting your grant soon!
  3. Thanks leftandstumpy, I am entering on WHV (if that makes a difference) in June, I think I'd be best off either; having them all done and dusted BEFORE I move out there, or not doing anything at all about it until I get there and get it all done from Oz! I think I'm just overthinking it, but the FBI checks take 4 months to be processed.
  4. I'm moving to Tassie in June, but partner visa won't be granted til around December so going to have to enter on WHV! Can't wait to get there!
  5. Hi Wan2go, good idea, I have added mine. Although I am applying for 309, our timelines looks quite similar
  6. I paid 80 for the jab and 92 for the blood test, the vet has to fill in the RNATT
  7. I uploaded the additional info requested (a birth certificate) to my immi account about 10 days ago and not heard anything since, should I of or do I just assume now they have everything so won't hear anything? I was asked to provide medicals/police checks in June..but as I am planning on going to Aus in June on WHV and waiting there, should I just get them done sooner so they are sorted before I go? If I'm waiting in Australia, the entry validity dates won't really matter as much cos I'll already be on that side of the world, ready to hop to NZ for it to be granted...right?! Also forgot to say, one of my police checks needed is a US FBI check, which have a really long processing time (and high percentage of rejected applications!) so would like to just get it done!!
  8. Why would you need permission to travel if you are an Australian citizen? If you are talking about your wife she (not you) can apply for her partner visa once arrived in aus
  9. Yes, my CO def said the processing time is 10-14 months, and by applying in Dec 14 I can expect the visa in Dec 15! I am also bound for Tassie, my partner works in Strahan!
  10. Strange, the person today was definitely in England, he left me a message and the number I called him back on was a London number!
  11. I applied on 27th Dec and today (20 days later!) I got a call from my co introducing himself and asked for my partners birth certificate. I hadnt even finished uploading everything I had, only have 1 stat dec (and from a uk citizen not Australian), so very happy what I did upload was enough. Told to get medical/police records in June and visa is likely to be granted in December.
  12. Thanks for the tips guys, will read up on doing it myself, don't know if I'd trust myself though lol. Someone post offices due fingerprinting for immigration applications for the Home Office but I think it is all scanning rather than ink. I will ring round a few more police stations to see if the prices varies at all.
  13. I've been looking at something similar, just sending a 30kg suitcase and parcel monkey look the cheapest by far - I think I will be using them.
  14. Hi guys I need to get my fingerprints taken for my FBI clearance. Can anyone point me in the direction of where I can get them done cheaply in the UK. Our police station charges 72 pounds for 1 set. Whilst I don't mind paying it, I've read of many instances where they have been rejected and multiple prints end up being needed. Does it have to be a police station or can it be somewhere less 'official'; a post office/bank? Thanks

    Transfur Animals

Hi, has anyone use Transfur Animals to ship a pet to Australia?
  16. Yes just meant we don't have a joint account/joint mortgage etc. Bills are in both our names, direct debits come from my account but he transfers money to me so will provide bank statements showing this
  17. Hi guys, just a quick update for anyone who is remotely interested. I submitted my online application for 309 partner visa yesterday and paid the fee. Some general musings: Dont particularly like the online system, had 'system unavailable' a lot and didnt like you couldn't save a page and come back to it or move to next question without scrolling through dozens of pages to get back to where you were! Found a lot of the questions repetitive and slightly tedious! (dates of all travel in last 10 years, step siblings details etc) I couldn't find a definitive answer to if I should also fill in and upload 40sp and 47sp, as they are exactly the same as the online application, but as they are listed on the document checklist online we have filled them in anyway. My status is 'in progress' now and my sponsor has lodged his application on my immiaccount. When can I expect another correspondance? Been gathering evidence since my original post, we don't have joint finances/bank accounts etc so just tried to explain things in the essay boxes. I am a bit nervous about lack of evidence but I've read a lot of similar situations on here, I am just gathering every little piece I can find, arranging stat decs etc. One last thing I am worried about, sponsors current address is here in the UK, as he isn't going back to Australia for another 2 weeks. I have a copy of his contract for the new job in Tasmania showing salary and location so hopefully that will explain. Think I am worrying unduly, but is a huge step isn't it Bob
  18. So now it's apply now offshore straight away at a cost of $3000, or my other choice was waiting til WHV was nearing ending and applying for partner visa on shore (which would now cost $6700 at the time!) I think the decision has been made really. Thank you
  19. Hi engaus, what will the new fees be? This could have a bearing on the decision! :err: Never mind - found it As if the the whole thing wasn't expensive enough! How realistic is it to be able to do a whole application between now and the end of the month?
  20. Thanks guys. I wasn't sure if entering on a WHV would be detrimental to a future partner application as its a temporary option. Also, if I applied now in the uk for partner visa then entered on a WHV in the meantime, would I have to leave when the partner was granted and re-enter (as I applied offshore?) Or could I just wait til the WHV was nearing expiration before putting in the partner visa application and getting a bridging visa? That way we wouldn't have been living apart so long in the 12 months prior to the application. Its all very confusing!
  21. Hi, I have been living with my partner since Sept 13 in the UK (he is dual Aus/UK citizen). Next month he has to move back to Australia at short notice for a job. I cannot leave UK to about June due to commitments here. I am planning on entering Aus on WHV then applying for partner visa when i get there. Or is there any overwhelming reason why we should just apply for partner visa now while I'm still in UK? (apart from it being cheaper offshore) Thanks
