  1. Hey guys, heard from our case officer (SV) yesterday, 13/09 with a bit of bad news for us. We've been told that my partners visa currently has a processing time of around 12 months I think this is different to the standard time being told these days as my partner is from Bangladesh, a 'High Risk' country and for these countries they seem to do a more intense background check. He's been requested to fill out I think it was Form 80 which he must give extensive details about his parents, brother and sister, every single address and job for I think around 10 years and details how he supported himself if there is any gaps in his job history etc. Has also been told that meds and police checks are not requested yet due to the long processing time
  2. Exactly right, best to keep on the right side of the law at this time!! I'm leaving next Thursday, 19 sep. really hoping we hear from a case officer before I go. We are pretty much banking on them requesting more information and I want to be here to help sort out anything that might happen. We are a young couple, both temporarily in the uk so therefore have very little financial evidence (no joint mortgage, cars etc) - we have a joint bank account but that's about it. We live with my partners family so I am not on the lease agreement as they only needed one of our names, which my partner did. We pay rent and bills as one sum to my partners family and they sort it all out so were a little bit nervous to be honest. We both wrote extensive personal statements and have 4 well written stat decs, one of them from my partners cousin detailing the living/paying rent/how long I lived in the home etc. and the rest of our evidence is mainly holidays and events together which we included confirmation emails for hotels, trains, bookings, attending weddings etc and then one or 2 supporting photos from each of those events to 'confirm'. On top of this we included about 8 or 9 bank statement pages showing (substantial) transfers -rent and shopping etc- between each other before our joint account and a few receipts of big purchases we've made together. Reading that back and it looks even smaller then I remembered it being When we were going through it, although it seemed quite small we do believe its of good 'quality' so hopefully this makes a difference. Sorry I got onto a little bit of a rant there hope you guys don't mind! Makes the wait a little more nerve racking for us. I've read around the forum that they won't ask for meds and police check until they are satisfied with the evidence etc given does any don know of this? Cannot wait to get meds requested for my partner if this is the case!!
  3. To be honest yes I think I can but have read on a few other forums of people being refused at the border as, to UK home office they don't seem to be genuine 'tourists' on account of I have just lived here for 2 years so why would I need to 'visit'? Risk of coming back to my current job and working illegally and overstaying etc. Following that if I say I'm here to visit my partner they may become even more concerned of my risk of overstaying. Which I can understand to some degree don't have the money to risk that at the moment! our plan is for my partner Ronnie to join me in Aus in December/January once everything is finalised here, eg police, meds etc for a month or 2 on a tourist visa then head back to his native Bangladesh to wait out the rest of the process. So will essentially be 3-4 months apart, but still, I'm dreading it already!
  4. Hopefully not! Reading other threads, people have been suggesting possibly case officers on holidays through August with school being out and all so hopefully that is the case and this week they will have started coming back and getting through our piles of applications! I assume its administration who take the payment details page and process that without a case officer as soon as the application is received. I hope the waiting time doesn't go up...I'm heading back to Aus next week (my visa for here is expired) so don't want it to be even longer until my partner can join me
  5. Nice to know, thanks for the info-looks like we're looking at another 10 days or so as well! Hopefully doesn't affect the waiting time on the other end
  6. We posted our application on 17th and money was taken from our account 20th but still haven't heard either. Was getting anxious but glad to know its not just us! Look forward to hearing when everyone hears word
  7. Congratulations! What a relief it is, isn't it! We sent ours off a little later than when I last posted, had to wait a couple of days for a friends stat dec, ended up posting it exactly a week go, Saturday 17th, money was taken from our account on Tuesday 20th but haven't heard anything else yet, anxiously checking our emails every half an hour! We've got the weekend and bank holiday now so hopefully will hear something on Tuesday. Look forward to hearing your updates
  8. I think I have too, now thinking about it, just a last minute freak out!
  9. Im a citizen, was born there, have just been living in the UK for 2 years. Thanks so much to both of you for your quick replies, I hoped it was just a scare, as I've been researching for months and NEVER came across this as a problem before! Thanks again
  10. Hey guys, I'm an Aussie sponsoring my partner for a 309/100 visa, have compiled the whole application over the last few months, are going to send it of to the high commission TOMORROW, I'm doing some last minute research and have just come across this and my heart has dropped! Im currently living in the UK with my partner so has anyone had any experience with this situation. I had seen this statement throughout the application but just assumed that I DO usually live in Australia. I am here in the UK on a 2 year work and holiday visa, due to expire in about 6 weeks, so I will be going back home then, but we don't want to hold off any longer to make the application, seeing we are already looking at 8-9 months apart. Does the Aussie sponsor have to be LIVING IN Australia when the applicant makes the application offshore? I so hope I'm just having a last minute stress!! Thanks in advance guys :)Nikki
  11. Hi there, we are opposites, I am the Aussie and my partner is applying for the 309/100 also here in London. Looks like we might have a similar time line as we hope to send off the paper work to the high commission tomorrow actually! Finally have everything we need together, look forward to sharing stories ps I'm also from Wollongong! Nikki
  12. Hey guys, sort of a funny question, but with the personal statements, do you think it's best to handwrite them, or type them on the computer and then just sign the bottom of the page. I feel like handwritten is more personal but am also worried in case my or my partners handwriting is hard to read! I think they are both relatively neat but wouldn't want to risk them not understanding! Thanks in advance
  13. Hi there, trying to fill out form 47SP "application for migration to Australia by a partner" with my partner (he is applicant, me his sponsor) and stuck on question 4 "Are you or any person included in this application currently awaiting a decision on another visa application?" The thing is we are living in London at the moment and before we had decided to move to Aus his student visa for the uk was due to expire, so therefore he has applied to extend it. At the moment he is still awaiting approval on that student visa( which he will withdraw if Aus 309/100 is granted) so enquiring if question 4 stated above is in regards to ANY visa he might be awaiting a result on or ONLY if its in regards to anotherAustralian one he may have already applied for? Thanks in advance
  14. Thatnks so much for the reply, sorry for posting twice, after I posted this one I thought maybe it was better to ask in its own thread! Such great news for us, would have been difficult to be apart the whole time as flights to and from the uk and Aus aren't cheap! Another quick question regarding police and medical checks, best to include in the original application or wait until they are requested? Thanks again!
  15. Hi there! I am an Aussie sponsoring my partner to apply for 309/100 hopefully by the end of this week (just waiting on our last stat dec to be posted from Aus) we currently live together in London but I have to go home mid September as my visa will expire. I was under the impression he had to be in London (where we will lodge the application) when his visa is granted, but reading a few posts here it seems that he doesn't need to be where the application was lodged, simply NOT be in Australia, is that correct? That would make a huge difference for us as it would mean he could potentially travel to Aus on a tourist visa once he has finalised the application here and then return to Bangladesh (where he is originally from) and wait out the rest of the process there, obviously much closer to Aus than the uk and much easier for us both to travel to each other to visit! So appreciative if anyone could clarify this for me
