  1. the last place I worked (farm) in Queensland, around 95% of the people i was working with were from overseas.
  2. yes you can have more than one employer. but if you have more than 1 employer, you must work exactly 88days.
  3. camper vans are quite expensive here for some reason. I would suggest starting in a big city like Sydney and to look on gum tree daily, as people will be selling their camper vans quite cheap as they have to leave the country. You will get much better value that way I think.
  4. it was because we didnt put water and coolant in before our 1200km trip, our fault! It ran amazing all the way. I think a pipe burst, just need to get it fixed ( i hope) Bondi
  5. Hi mate, Its best to stay away from the paid up front jobs, they are not worth touching IMO. I been told by a few people that work is a bit dry in Darwin, I think its dry everywhere from what people are saying. You may just have to take what you can get in the short term, and wait for the next few harvests to kick in
  6. The work you are doing for them has be be in a regional area and the work your doing has to meet the requirements marked in he 1263 form. It does not matter about the business. Best bet is to find out exactly what your job role is, and where you will be working. Then refer to the 1263 form, if still confused, call immigration they will tell you within minutes after you provide them the info
  7. yeah that will be enough mate, chances are they wont ask, but no harm in having it
  8. its either a scam or the "$1-5k" is a target which you will never earn.
  9. start on gum tree, go door to door with CVs, best way for a city like GC
  10. I had to go to a Wifi spot and find a mechanic garage . Then when i found the location I came back to the car, and was hit with a fine. the car lost its steering so we could not move it. I came back and they slapped up a fine lol.
  11. Hey guys, I made the mistake of not putting water in my car and after a 15 hour drive to Syndey the car overheated lol. Anyway I had to park the car on the side of the road. And because it was not facing parallel with the road I got a $169 fine. I could not park it any other way, and had to push it the curb. And now the car is at the garage. Do you think If i contest this fine I will win? I will have proof of invoice that my car broke down on the same day as the fine. As later I took it to the garage (1hr after the fine) http://www.sdro.nsw.gov.au/fines/pn/review.php#outcomes advice? thanks
  12. in Sydney after a 15 drive. Car breaks down 5 seconds safer crossing the Sydney bridge, I forgot to put water in the water tank and that caused the enginge to over heat, im stupid! . Park car wrong way round get fined $169. currently in a house that has no wifi so no pics sorry. will give full update soon with pics
  13. I would not use agencies , fees are overpriced, and you can do most things yourself. Within 2 mintues of being in a hostel you will have met at least 10 other solo backpackers, so dont be worried about doing it alone. What problems do you face with your car? stick it on gumtree/auto trader?
  14. Hi Bass, As for rural work its a bit quiet now. Other jobs, there are quite a few in Brisbane, however not as many as compared to Sydney and Melbourne.
  15. Do you have a job, if not you are going to need one. What do you own that you dont want/need or use, you can start by selling them too. Do you have any creative skills, you can do free lance work in writing/designing on the internet too to earn extra income.
  16. I love airbnb, really glad I use that instead of hostels hehe. paying $37 a night with a friend for this!!!
  17. glad everyone is enjoying it. I may be heading down to Sydney in the next few days from the sunshine coast, if anyone wants a lift, send me a PM
  18. whats your budget? if you just want to use it for surfing the web and using Microsoft documents, then go for the lower end range.
  19. Currently at the sunshine coast now, driving up north, not sure how far north though. After leaving Brisbane, Airbnb/hostel prices are crazy high, might have to sleep in the car one night to avoid paying high fees. Will look at them again later. Shelly Beach Ewan Maddack dam Glass house Mountain, small bush fire at the time, so you cant see much Thinking of heading to rainbow beach next or hervey bay, but not sure on plan.
  20. it does not have to be the same farm for 3 months, ideally its better to be the same place, as if you stick with one employeer, depending on their work week, you can count days off as worked days. If you have more than one employer, then you must work 88 days.
  21. Perhaps go to a WWOOFing farm, where they may be a bit more lenient on what you can do, you wont be getting paid but im sure they can give you other duties to do. So you can still get your 2nd WHV.
  22. most likely not check. But get yourself a receipt for the transaction and print it off. That will show proof of funds
  23. never mind answered my oqn question here http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/About-us/Contact-us/In-person/Customer-service-centres/South-east-queensland.aspx#brisbane
