  1. Stace, you MUST visit Broome and the Coral coast it's spectacular!!!!!!!!
  2. I know!!! Shocker!! There's various health and safety laws in place I believe so no hot food/drink prep allowed.
  3. The cat cafe is on Queen Street! Not strictly a cafe, more an instant coffee and a pre packaged muffin type of place but the cat part is incredible!!
  4. Yes, as long as you apply for the visa before your 31st birthday!
  5. How exciting! I've been following your posts for a while now and am happy that it's all underway for you. I'm here in Australia now and I guarantee it will be the best thing you've ever done! X
  6. Hello, I'm on a WHV and have worked for my company for 2 months. The company has now been sold to another owner (it's a cafe). The name of the cafe is the same but we've all had to fill new tax declarations etc. Does this technically mean it's a 'new employer' and my 6 months begins from now? Thanks
  7. Yeah I mean everyone is different with their spending habits etc - if you eat out for every meal for example then your money is going to go pretty rapidly! If you eat breakfast at your hostel and make a pack up lunch then you will make your money stretch
  8. I actually came with $17000 but bought a campervan for $14000 so only left me with $3000 although i am travelling with my other half so cost of campsites etc are split, but I've found that enough money for me for about 8 weeks until I found a job. I'm not a massive drinker though and the prices are pretty high for that in Aus so save your cash and buy a 6 pack to drink at home!
  9. Generally speaking, most travellers I've met either started in Sydney or Brisbane and worked their way up/down the east coast ending in Cairns. Again all this is my opinion and a massive generalisation but all the Aussies I've met have been amazing, generous and friendly! They love a good English person! As long as you can take a few jokes about the place then you're golden with the work thing it's really just a case of how lucky you are. For example, my and my other half came to Brisbane, both as Baristas, I got a job within 2 days but 5 weeks later my partner still hasn't found anything. Good luck to you though, coming here will be the best decision you will ever make!
  10. 100% do it, clichè I know - but life is too short. You're at an ideal age for it and this could be the best thing you ever did! Good luck
  11. Hello, unfortunately the working holiday visa isn't an option for you as you are not allowed to take any dependants (children) with you. What occupations do you have? If it's on the SOL then you may have options x
  12. Try looking on AirBnB, some great places on there!
  13. Hello, I've tried looking on the HMRC website but I'm just confusing myself even more! Basically I'm self employed and leaving to go to Australia on a WHV for a year or so. My tax owed is paid through my regular job through my PAYE code. I will be leaving this job in December so how will they collect the tax remaining for the year? Will I have to ring them and set up some kind of direct debit? Also, I will have to compete a tax return for 2014/2015 but I won't even be in the country to process this return, can I fill one in early? Or take my paperwork overseas with me and do it online!? Thanks in advance Rachel x
  14. I'd say you'd be richer than 90% of the other backpackers around!
  15. Thank you, I must have mis-read something along the way! X
