Thanks all! If there's anyone involved in the business community in Melbourne, I'd love to catch up. We're currently in a testing phase and Im looking to run a trial with frequent travellers.

Morning All PIO's I hope everyone enjoyed their Australia Day weekend! I joined a long time ago at the start of my journey towards my goal of at life in Oz. Last time I posted was the day I received my notification of 189 PR Visa :cute: That was July 2013. Following which I moved on the 1st Jan 2014. Anyways, as a way of re-engaging I thought I should re-intro myself with an update... Im Sam. Arrived from the UK (after the standard crazy visa process) at the start of last year with the intention of starting my own business in Melbourne (A city I fell in love with years perviously). On a random evening in Radio Mexico whilst drunk on Mexican beer and tacos, I met a programmer (Irish chap with a love for surfing and chocolate) who was also, like me struggling to find a job. So we decided to team up and create our own! After only knowing each other 2 weeks we applied to AngelCube. Melbourne's tech startup incubator. We pitched a panel, not to dissimilar to Shark Tank or Dragons Den! Surprisingly, even though we were up against teams with far more traction, budget and customers...we were accepted!! After some months hitting the whiteboard (and sometimes each other) we gained traction and popularity with our idea Class...a take on Uber for Hotels (Im NOT here to pitch so bare with me). My CTO or The Wizard as he prefers to be known has done us proud and created the first version of our product (Launched just before xmas) which is offically the worlds fastest hotel booking app (5.7secs) with rewards on every booking. We are super excited as last week we received notification that we have made it into the Top 20 Finalists for the Australian App Awards!! So thats me...It's been an absolutely crazy first year in Australia. If you want to say hey, Im usually hanging around the pancake machine in the Virgin lounge in Melbourne!!

What have you done today to get yourself to OZ?

Put all my worldly possessions on eBay! Hoping to sell as much as possible before Xmas! Flying in 5 weeks!!! -
Im also looking to move to St Kilda when we get there in Jan

Nope, not a contractor. Standard employment contract. I think I'll have an informal "chat" 6 weeks before my intended leave date. Then formally serve at the appropriate time. Exciting/nervous times! Cheers guys

Hi guys, Just trying to bounce some ideas off you. I’ve booked my flight for the 1st Jan and only have to give 1 months notice at work. However my director is a nice guy and my departure will look quite bad to our clients. In an ideal world, I would give them a full 2 months notice to give them a chance to hire and for me to train my replacement. However I don’t want to give the company the opportunity to put me on notice first (as technically its only one month either side). Just wondering what others have done...Have you looked out for number 1 or given more notice than required in good faith?

Will 60 Points Be Enough for 189 Visa from July?
samlee1985 replied to james007's topic in Visa Chat
Chck out my timeline...I faced this problem a few months ago. Do I redo IELTS or just run with 60 points. I feel there is alot of scare mongering with agents saying 60pointers "will never get in and just float around the system for years". Its BS, Im very glad I saved the money on an agent and dont feel it could have gone any faster if i had had 70 points -
Kelly I've also heard good things and have book to fly with MAS on New Years Day! Exciting times!

Thanks Kelly, My girlfirend and I and moving to Melbourne in Jan. Looking into flights at the moment so will be checking out IOM cheers!

I live in the city centre and when i approached a city solicitor the charge was extortionate. So I called around a number of solicitor in towns surrounding the city and managed to get all my documents certified for £20 near 100 pages top tip: call regional solicitors and make arrangements for Friday just before lunch...its just lunch money for lawyers :twitcy:
