  1. Thanks everyone! Couldn't have done it without all the support advice and encouragement I have had from all you guys on here though, so thank you all!n I am feeling a little smug and proud of myself for doing it all myself. Sadly I can't celebrate as I just got into bed after my 4th night shift and am back for a fifth tonight boooo! I'll make up for it tomorrow! Xxx
  2. Thanks, I'm a staff nurse and it's just me and my husband. Super chuffed!
  3. I have no idea how....... But ...... Our visa has just been granted!!!!!!! Woopihoooo finally!! Australia here we come!!!!!!!
  4. Don't worry too much about the application status. Mine went from assessment in progress back to application received. They will ask you if they need anything from you. As its only a couple of weeks away now, I would just wait for the 1st of July and if you don't hear anything then, give them another ring. In the meantime, I believe, no news is good news.
  5. I did did see someone else posting that they had had no CO contact and when they phoned to see what was going on they were told that they had been allocated a COna while before, but had just not had an email for some reason.
  6. There will not be any more visa grants until the start of the new financial year which is 1st July. I'm hoping the 1st brings a mass granting of visas as I too have been waiting since February 19th. Good luck everyone, not too long to go now.
  7. Soooo here's my thought process try and remain calm. Obviously they have now reached their quota for visa grants. There is however now limit to how many visa Applications they can reject so if they were going to turn us down we would know by now right? Damn I can't wait for the 1st of July! I hope it's an immediate click of the button for all of us still waiting, would be nice for one of the million things that are up in the air to land!
  8. Our plan is very similar. We are hoping to move out in August (hoping for a visa grant on 1st of July.) My sister is already an Australian citizen and works for the Australian Defence Force. We plan to live quite close to her and her beautiful family. My mum and Dad plan to stay in the UK as my Dad feels no pull to move to Australia whatsoever and feels snowdonia is his paradise. Also the contributory parent visa is so expensive it is out of the question. Their plan is to spend the UK summer and spring on their canal boat and then the autumn and winter with us in Canberra. Our aim is also to buy a house with a self contained flat, although I hadn't thought about a house with land to put a cabin on, that's also a great idea. We figure that between us and my sister we will be able to pay for their flights and then perhaps rent out the flat on a short term lease for the other six months of the year. Maybe to new arrivals who are emigrating. I wish we could afford to buy them business class seats but as a nurse I doubt that will ever be possible. My husband and I are very close to my parents, so them not coming to stay with us would not be an option either. Those six months will be the best ever because I will finally have all my loved ones in the same country for more than a month. I can't wait!!
  9. Are up applying for midwifery jobs? As you're husbands job is a niche market, this might be a way Of ensuring you arrive with an income? Just a thought. I think midwives seem to be in quite high demand. Best of luck anyway. I have applied for an ITU post in canberra and am desperately hoping to hear something in the next couple of weeks as arriving with a job in hand will be a massive weight off! Fingers crossed.
  10. Can I ask what you're job is? Also where are you hoping to move to?
  11. So true! I have to contact AHPRA yet again tonight to probably be told yet again that my caseworker is not available to take my call. I ham planning on submitting the blood of a virgin and a unicorn horn with my next contact. You never know it might work! Now... Back to trying to catch that damn unicorn.....
  12. That's only within Australia. Outside it can only be done by a notary public or a justice of the peace. A solicitor won't cut it. I had to pay to have all mine re certified as I had originally gone to a solicitor.
  13. I don't know, I know that mine had to be sent to ahpra directly from the NMC.
  14. I asked AHPRA this when I phoned them last time and they told me they are one and the same, they just have different names for it. Just to add to the confusion lol! I got my 'verification of registration' sent directly to AHPRA by the NMC.

    The NHS

To be fair, it is not only the conservatives who make cuts. Our ED and medical assessment unit has been suffering for years with massive waits for beds since labour was in because they closed all our peripheral hospitals and lots of beds in those that are left. This in Turn means that there is nowhere for these patients to go so they block acute beds. On top of that demand for treatment has drastically increased due to people living longer (because the NHS is contrary to popular belief doing a good job at times) people are also becoming much more demanding. We have had families dictate to us that ther loved one is not to go anywhere except home from our ITU. Where's the sense in that?! Their perfectly stable relative was then blocking a critical care bed for someone who had had a cardiac arrest!! Until a consultant anaesthetist with a spine came and sorted it out. since the conservatives came in I have found much more opportunity as a nurse to move to new areas to expand my skills and experience as there are more jobs to apply for. Whereas when I qualified, my intake were told that we were in trouble because there were only 5 jobs for the 61 of us who qualified. I was lucky enough to get one of those jobs and have worked in a variety of settings since. Yes there are cuts, and yes there are services being privatised, but no more than there were under Labour. I voted plaid Cymru anyway. I too as an NHS employee find it very disheartening to read nothing but bad and doom and gloom about the NHS. Hey people!! There are good stories too! They just don't sell papers unfortunately.
  16. No, my friend put some pics up on Facebook saying it was a bank holiday weekend. Just looked and it's just for them probably, it's Western Australia Day.
  17. Or, if the consultant is refusing to send the details, can you get a private second opinion for the purpose of reassuring immigration?
  18. Thanks cherries002. Can I ask when you applied to AHPRA? I hope I hear something from them soon. I applied for an ITU nursing post in Canberra yesterday. Closing date is tomorrow so I hope I hear something next week. Fingers crossed! So many things up in the air at the moment. Visa, ahpra, job, lol! X
  19. I just had little desperate look at my application on the immi account, I case I had somehow missed that long awaited email. I notice where before my status was showing as 'in progress' after getting a case officer, it now says, 'application received.' What's that about? Have I gone backwards?
  20. Same here, we did pretty well out of the recession. As long as we both get jobs I'm hoping we will do the same over there. I applied for an intensive care nursing post in Canberra yesterday. Crossing all my fingers and toes I get the job as it would be amazing to go over knowing I have a job to go to, and a job I love to boot. Will be a big weight off my shoulders.
  21. By the end of the year I reckon 2.20 to the pound. This is really exciting for me as it means my parents will hopefully be able to afford to visit us more when we eventually get over there.
  22. That's strange LindsG, others who have applied for 189 have spoken directly to the DIBP and they say different. fingers crossed your agent is correct because I have just uploaded to last of the additional information they requested to our account so will be back to checking my emails every hour overnight again. Lol
  23. It's not a certificate of good standing, it's a verification of registration I have requested. Do I need to get a certificate of good standing? No one mentioned that. I am planning to phone ahpra Monday morning to ask for a n extension and for them to clarify what they want exactly as it's not clear. All my transcript really says is the theory and practical hours I spent on each topic. This was enough for ANMAC but clearly not for AHPRA. I'm dreading having to go back to my uni for more info as they are so unreliable, they have two secretary's both as useless as each other. They delayed my ANMAC assessment because they didn't send my transcripts and the delayed my visa application for the same reason. I really despise having to depend upon others. Just to check, my transcript was about 4 pages long, does that sound about right to you? Thanks for replying x
  24. Ahh macca I knew I could count on you! I'm sure you are very worried, can I ask what work you both do and where you are hoping to move to? From what I can gather (prepares to be shot down by the naye Sayers) the work is there for those willing to do it, like the UK I suppose. I am fully expecting to have to wait tables or work behind a bar for the first few weeks if I don't get a job before I leave, so is my husband. I actually think it will be a nice respite from nursing and a bit of fun. We have got the very lucky bonus that we can stay with my sister and brother in law (getting years worth of missed cuddles from my niece and nephew) for as long as we need. Sounds like you guys could maybe do with a recce trip? X
