  2. I have used CD before a few times and found them very good and very helpful. Have now started using Currency Fair also very good and helpful with €3 cost per transaction
  3. Great to heat it went so well for you. We are moving to the Sunshine Coast in March so it make me feel a little less anxious about the move
  4. H Ciara. We are making enquiries with these people at the moment for a container. They might be able to help you. We have not used them yet. But they have been responsive in all enquiries which is more than can be said for some of the companies we have contacted. They also do groupage which is what you need i gather. Best of luck on your move Cronin Movers + 353 1 809 7027 http://croninmovers.com/residential-move-services/ Have you checked sending it by An Post. Seen somewhere you can send 20KG Box for about €60 might be worth looking into
  5. is it ok to have all this info on a USB stick so an agent can copy it when needed as opposed to printing loads of copies
  6. Maybe if you point out they can deliver to the limit on their quote, the 35m limit, drop your stuff on the side of the road where they see fit and you can arrange a truck from there. Then you will post your experience truthfully online for all other customers. No lies just your experience of their service and how they go that extra mile....................Sometimes a little reverse Phsycology might help
  7. I use Currency Fair and have found them great €3 transfer fee last time i used it i think and great rates. ONce setup easy to use and very quick once you do it all right. You must notify CF when you are making a transfer so they can watch for it on their system

    Sky TV?

You will need to setup a VPN service on your PC/Latptop so you can switch your IP address to a UK one Then as you have suggested use Skygo with someones UK account to log in or youre own account if you want to keep it up Bit of setting up involved but thats someone i know does do to watch Heineken Cup Rugby
  9. http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/queensland/abbot-point-coal-terminal-reef-dredging-project-approved-20131210-2z3v2.html Seems to make no sense whatsoever, can they not dump in the middle of the desert or something. AUS you think should try to protect something as unique as the Reef I guess it shows money talks
  10. Curious yo know whereabouts on the Sunshine Coast you are
  11. "interested in room sharing on the cruise from the 8th July, it takes 12 nights to get to Singapore. Cost for the room is around $6K" Sounds like the cost is €3K if anyone is interested
  12. Put together a list of "Compelling and Compassionate reasons" medical, family, work etc as to why you were not in Aus and why you wish to return. Would seem you can do this and should not be too difficult
  13. Looking at bringing over a BMW520d to Aus, can anyone advise if you have a 20ft container is it possible for removal companies to use the space above the car for storage/boxes etc. Dont really need a 40ft container as we have little no furniture but have boxes of personal stuff etc. Car will take up most of the space on the flat so wondering do they stack over the car? Any advice appreciated if anyone has done this
  14. You too will need a house for your kids...even if its just to visit...............so do not hand over your share of your house. Best of luck and hope things work out in some way for you

    Cairns in Photos

Lovely shots would love to have locations also. We are moving in March and trying to decide where to exactly, initial thoughts are sunshine coast. But those photos are very tempting
  17. Just wondering if anyone can give an idea of costs on the Aussie side once you get a container into Port. We are shipping a car over plus some household stuff in a 20ft container to Brisbane. Price we have is to the Quay in Brisbane. So we need to get it from there. Has anyone any experience of this. I know most companies will do delivery to destination etc but this is one of our options and may work out cheaper. If we can make it work
  18. From Ireland not UK and heading over in March 2014. Can understand how you feel. We may be heading Sunshine coast area so if you still the need, to meet up in March 2014 more than happy. Otherwise i'm sure it will sort itself out these things take time. You can always take a trip up to sunshine coast and we can supply the coffee or stronger .........Best of Luck. I know i'll probably be posting something similar in 2014
  19. Curious to know what part of QLD as we are moving over in March.................thought property was rising everywhere
  20. Arriving on the sunshine coast ......somewhere............ in March 2014 so nice to hear things are going well for you. Best of luck
  21. Over 50 and heading to Oz. Was there 23 years ago and had medicare as a PR. Still a PR and have our Medicare numbers but might need to get Private Health cover. Is this advisable and do we get allowance if we have private health cover here or will we get stuck with increased premiums due to age. Any advice welcome
  22. I smiled when i read this Agatha................Well we are you in 24 years time ......except we did not get Citizenship for ourselves before we left :arghh:................ Our two children were that age when we left Oz in the late 80's. Now, 24 years later, one has returned to Oz, a couple of years and loves it, and the other is on the way shortly she tells us, and has already left the country. They are both Aussies by birth...................... In a twist of fate we reckon, we have now also been given the opportunity to get a RRV (resident return visa) and so in our 50th year are packing our bags, selling up and heading off for another adventure to Oz, you're never too old..............we hope!!! This time we stay till we get citizenship at least but maybe, hopefully even, for good, we need the weather now................... So it was great they had the opp to return and now we also get the chance as a result of their decisions to go back, its a funny old world sometimes.................. So never say never and life can have many routes and hurdles but at least you have given them the choice for later in life. Ours now realize how lucky they are to have that choice. We will all be an hours flight or so from each other, not living in each others ears or anything like that, but on the same bit of soil so long weekends etc beckon once again and as you have said they will always be your babies...............mind you now we feel them getting a little protective of us..........things change and you don't even realize it sometimes .................Best of luck in your and their choices in life........ it will work out................ and give us a shout, post again..... in 20 years and we will all see how we all got on....................................
