  1. Hi Mel, 1. Your can enter as many qualifications as you like, the system will award points on the highest only. 2. If you are claiming points for the degree then you can only claim points for experience post-degree. 3. I believe the intended state is just to put you in a box, it doesnt force you to go there. 4. It means that you have filled in the form correctly with no errors and that payment has been taken. Hope this helps Tony
  2. Hi, our parents are seriously considering a CPV and coming with the rest of the family to Aus from the UK. The MIL has arthritis and a such will need to pay for a few drugs that she requires. I understand as a CPV they will get medicare from day 1. Questions are .... 1. How does the PBS Safety Net work for a 66 and 69 year old migrant retiree ?? 2. Would they be considered for the Concessionary Card for medical requirements ?? Thanks in advance Tony
  3. Just a quick one. Are there any pet exporters that fly direct from Scotland (Glasgow) to Perth. Might consider if they could pick up the dog. Any recommendations for particular companies would be appreciated. Thanks Tony
  4. Hi, We (Tony, Sandra, Luke) lodged our 189 visa application in January. When we log in all of our details are shown ok, including uploaded documents etc .... (of course no CO yet). I was wanting to organise the medicals for the three of us for mid-late feb. This was ok for Sandra and I, but when i click on the link for Luke we either get a blank screen or a server invalid message. I have tried emailing tech support but they dont even answer. I have tried this link for each of the last 10 days. Unfortunately the only panel doctor for us is in Edinburgh and they only accept electronic referrals, i cant even do a form 26 for myself. What a pain in the ar$e. Any ideas ?? Thanks Tony
  5. Hi J'Oz, I have an Honours Degree in Software Engineering. BUT my job is Control and Automation Engineer. So i had to go through the CDR route because my degree should have been assessed by ACS. Given my job role is different from my degree. That is why i got ET instead of PE (even with 12+ years experience) I would say that your husband with his HND (nearly an Aus degree) and a sufficient level of experience 3+ years should apply for PE, and let them make the decision to award PE or ET. From a points basis it doesnt really matter. Cheers Tony
  6. Hi Olivia, i have just gone through the same process. The link below should help. http://www.immi.gov.au/asri/occupations/t/telecommunications-network-engineer.htm I would always go for the highest level being Professional Engineer (PE). Mainly because the skill level can go down and not up. This means an applicant for PE may get PE, but if they dont quite qualify they will get Engineering Technologist (ET) which is still Skill Level 1 (Australian Honours Degree Level). If you apply for ET that is the highest you can get. You get the same number of points for PE and ET, might as well go for the top level. Hope this helps Tony
  7. Hi, we plan to make the move in Oct 2013, staying in craigie for about 12 mnonths with relatives. Looking to keep the legs going, any advice on Veterans football teams in the craigie area. Any ideas ? Tony
  8. Cool, we are going to stay with relations in Craigie. We also have relations in Yanchep. Do you have a Job organised. I'm hoping to get transferred with my current employer BP. Hoping to get there by October to get all of the summer. Tony
  9. hubbert, search on google for Free UK Proxy server. The reason iplayer wont work is because your ip address is an Australian one. If you use a proxy server, iplayer will see a UK address instead. Instructions are usually on the site that hosts the server. I got it working when i was in Perth this time last year. Also works for SKYGo as well Happy Days Tony
  10. Hi, good luck with your application !! Keep in touch :-) We are moving from Central Scotland to Perth. Where are yous going to / coming from ? Tony
  11. Hi, 189 Visa Submitted today ..... waiting :-)
  12. Hi, Been a struggle but the Visa application has finally been submitted. just thought i'd start a new thread for the 189's. Seem to be plenty for the 190's. Please update timelines etc and expected date of migration. Cheers Tony
  13. Just got this chapter and verse from the BBC News. 1. To get a full pension you must pay in 35 years 2. To get a partial pension you must pay in a total of 10 years 3. You can continue to make contributions even if you have left the uk (but you get no cost of living increases) 4. Those already in receipt of a pension are unaffected Hope this clears it up Barnsey
  14. Andy, the way i understand it if you have state sponsorship your number of points becomes irrelevant. All you need is the minimum of 60. As far as i know for the state sponsorship again points are irrelevant, all you need is to meet the criteria and have a profession that is on the SOL list. Equally the quota for that profession must not have been filled for the year. Cheers Tony
  15. Hi, it seems that your agent is playing it safe but not telling lies !!! if you look at the following link it will show you the reports produced by skillselect showing the distribution of invites vs points scored for december. http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/index/reports/skillselect-invitations-to-apply-to-migrate-3-december-2012-results/ Looking on the reports tab on the skillselect page shows the same reports for each application round and all of those since november have had significant numbers of 60 pointers invited. This can change however, although early invite rounds wer for small numbers of applicants so of course those with higher points get asked first. I got invited in the december 03 round with 65 points, but over 600 60's were invited. Now it looks like you are getting the SS you may as well use it. Given you are borderline its probably better you use the SS. Good Luck. Tony IELTS 27/4/12 R9L9S9W8 --- EA CDR Submitted 27/7/12 - Positive 19/12/12 (Engineering Technologist) EOI 27/11/12 - Invite 03/12/12 (65 Points) --- 189 Visa Paperwork to MARA Agent 10/12/12 189 Visa Submitted - Shortly CO -??
  16. Hi, i have just had a successful outcome via CDR with EA. Best advice i can add is as follows. Firstly read and understand each of the competencies that are required. Settle your mind on the three episodes that you are going to use. Produce the Summary Statements first, this may seem a bit back to front but it worked for me. Once you understand what is required write a small paragraph detailing how you have achieved each competency. I supplied at least one instance per episode, per competency. Once the short paragraphs were written to show each competency, i then transposed them into paragraphs in the main body of the cdr. I then embellished each of the paragraphs to tell the story properly. Each paragraph was then placed in chronological order and given numbers which matched the correct place in the summary statements. Sounds a bit long winded but it makes each paragraph worth something, and you dont end up writing lots of stuff for no gain. Hope this helps Feel free to PM me if you need more help. 18. Thanks to all :=) Looking forward to football non-retirement !!
  19. Hi, I was wondering if there are any football leagues in the Perth northern suburbs. We plan to be moving to Perth in October this year, probably based in the Craigie / Beldon / Padbury area. Getting a bit long in the tooth so i would be looking for seniors / Over 30's. Any help appreciated. Cheers Tony
  20. Hi, i have a similar time line to yourself, what subclass are you applying for ?? We are planning to move in October this year to Perth !! Good Luck Tony, Sandra and Luke IELTS 27/4/12 R9L9S9W8 / EA CDR Submitted 27/7/12 - Positive 19/12/12 (Engineering Technologist) - Invited 17/12/12 (65 Points) 189 Application this month
  21. Hi, I'm totally sure that you can do this - i have done it the other way around. I am a Software Engineer, with 12 years experience in DCS / Control Systems / Instrumentation. I recently gained a positive result from Engineers Australia using the CDR process. Not sure what ACS require, but i guess its going to be similar. Good Luck !! Tony
  22. Thanks Again !! Do i arrange medicals / police checks after a CO is assigned or when i get an application number ? Tony
  23. Yes, I have completed the Form 1276, 80 for each adult, 956 - all with them now. Does this mean they will be tapping it into a computer ? I could have done that in December. I also had to go through the expense of getting all the copies certified - they insisted on a copy for their records (not certified) and one for the Aus Govt. They have had the electronic versions of this paperwork since early Dec !!! Thanks
  24. Thanks for the reply !!! My application is a paper application - not online :-( The actual costs (which i paid upfront) were around $2500 with Skills and Visa applications on top. I honestly think that i have paid enough for the service, after all i fill out all the paperwork - they are checkig it at the other end. Tony
