1. Mollie I think that if the property is rented for 2 years capital gains tax comes in to force.. I had a nightmare agent who was 'let go'.. now got another one .. she's ok but still does not send on information.. one of my neighbour's alerts me... and has done so quite often. I want to hold on to my little house for as long as I can ... my situation is different came here to join my partner and still have good and bad days, where I get home sick.. have driven to the airport a couple of times. It's early days... but always imagined retiring in it... don't know whether I could afford anywhere here, not on our wages. Keep your options open .....
2. Thank you it felt like a lifetime apart from my OH, but was worth the wait. Good luck to all those still waiting x
3. Well got my Spouse visa granted last Monday and flew out Tuesday night and arrived in Brisbane Thursday morning and so glad to see my OH after over 5 months separation, its been a real worry, I hate flying especially on my own and the flight wasn't the best. Jet lag been a joke, but slept better last night. I still have to pinch myself to believe I am here. I feel that I am living in a dream, but know it will take time to settle. OH is back to work now, and gives me a chance to have a nap. Good luck to all those still waiting, it is worth the wait!!!!
4. Well done to you both for sticking it out, it worked out in the end!!! The world as truely gone mad, good luck for the future and your return to Oz !!!
5. Amazing news Chris, gives hopes to the rest of us waiting !!! Congratulations and let us know how you get on
6. Amazing!!! Congratulations, so that was under the 5 month window???? Well done :jiggy:
7. Absolutely, I have a migration agent who I contact on a regular basis, she is going to re-contact my CO the end of June to check if I am still on for the date the CO gave me originally, but has warned me that this date has shifted backwards. Fact not Fiction !
8. Strangely I got told that the Partner Visas numbers had reached there limit for 2012, they were not being capped but that the processing time was being delayed and that outstanding visas would take longer than anticipated. This was via my migration officer who had enquired whether my visa could be processed quicker, and this is when my CO relayed the above message to her about 2 weeks ago.
9. To be honest had to find all the paperwork etc and I sorted it out and chased up results from the medical myself, and pushed when I needed information from the CO which I thought was what the migration agent was going to do, and why we had instructed a migration service. Naively we were told originally that the visa would take 3-4 months, which once money had exchanged hands, went immeadiately to 5+ months. But we are at least in the system. The hardest thing for us is that my OH is already in Oz and I had to stay behind. :arghh: Still got lots to sort out and the house needs sorting ready to let, fingers crossed for July x
10. Good glad they are all singing off the same hymn sheet, We submitted end of Feb, told end of July
11. LOL so were we!!! Keep updating, did you use a migration service?? Fingers crossed we have been given a date around the 21st of July for my visa to be granted !
12. Too many visa's to process I suppose, Spouse visa's weren't to be capped, but who knows. The wait is killing us!!! Keeping busy, but it feels like a lifetime away :grumpy1
13. Since I have applied the goal posts have shifted several times, the timescale is more like 6 months than 5! I was told 3-4 when I first applied. Just got to hope that things improve and they issue the visas asap!!! Was told July, but can't see it to be honest!
14. Spoke to my migration agent today, a bit worried as I have booked my flight for the first week of August, my CO said that she hoped to grant my Spouse Visa on or around the 21st July, 5 months from application and I hoped by leaving it an extra 2 weeks, it would cover me. But due to changes on the 1st July, could result in delays in VISA's. I will have been apart from my OH 6 months by the time I fly back to OZ, so a delay would be a nightmare!!!! As anyone else been told of delays??
15. Well it was a week ago since I booked my flight for August, got freight companies coming end of next week, to quote. Spent last weekend clearing loft, still got to decide do I take the Xmas tree or not?? Trying to keep everything to a minimum. Got to get a skip to clear the house, redecorate and rent this place till the market picks up. Roll on August. Thanks for all your comments, please let my visa come back on time, pretty please CO. Thinking of everyone on their waiting VISA  Cant wait to get back to my OH, these next couple of months going to be hard x
16. Did something that I said I wasn't going to do......... Spouse Visa is due to be granted the end of July, OH is already in Oz, was fed up and missing him so much. So I have booked my ticket to Brisbane for the first week of August, worst comes to worse can reschedule the flight for later in month or fly out on a holiday visa. Fingers crossed that the visa comes on time. Good luck to all those in the same boat
17. No unfortuntately I can't, my contract had a clause in it which meant that I had to give 3 months notice and due to not having a clear VISA date couldn't start that process until my CO gave a all clear with everything. Nightmare, as if I had tried to break the contact, it may have caused problems for me having a reference for future employment in OZ. I wish people realised how stressful this VISA process is :em4600: counting down now
18. Well I got my email today with the letter for nurse registration, and when I arrive to go to APHRA Office to prove identity. Relieved, but still got to find work, maybe I will sleep now been a real stressful time. Feel for all those still waiting, hang in there!!!! Don't know if I can go to the Brisbane Office instead of where I sent my application, hopefully xx
19. Dear All, I have my nursing registration letter now, but have to wait now for my spouse visa, have been told it will be at the earliest 21 July, so have resigned myself to this, that will be 5 months, and 6 months since I have seen my husband. But feel lucky that my circumstances are different to some as my OH is not in the armed forces, and know we will see each other again, but miss him so much:em4600: x
20.

What is the cheapest way to phone a Australian mobile from the UK?????, BT charges are a joke!!!

21. Hello Playghirl, I have had the same problem, I was told originally that my visa should be granted 3-4 months from application date,as the CO was processing quicker. However, that date changed and in the last week, apparently the processing time as in fact increased due to a rise in demand and capping. Therefore, my visa is now close to the 6 month mark, which also means I haven't seen my husband for 6 months!!! Feel for you both as it is a stressful time, and I must say this last week as been a nightmare, but have to refocus on the end of July beginnning of August and just keep going. Good Luck!!!!
22. Just a word of warning got my application in for Feb 2012, just got an email to say that due to the amount being processed, the earlier date of July, as now been put back to August!!! Very upset right now, as had everything planned. Everything medical, police check, paperwork already done, dont require anything else!!!!! So frustrated that means I wont have seen my husband for over 6 months!!!
