  1. Mollie I think that if the property is rented for 2 years capital gains tax comes in to force.. I had a nightmare agent who was 'let go'.. now got another one .. she's ok but still does not send on information.. one of my neighbour's alerts me... and has done so quite often. I want to hold on to my little house for as long as I can ... my situation is different came here to join my partner and still have good and bad days, where I get home sick.. have driven to the airport a couple of times. It's early days... but always imagined retiring in it... don't know whether I could afford anywhere here, not on our wages. Keep your options open .....
  2. Did you find any classes? I move in a weeks time to Nelson Bay area
  3. I am here on a Spouse 309 visa and have medicare, but have been told I have till the end of July to obtain Private Healthcare Insurance or I will be taxed higher? The policies I have seen are so expensive are they worth it. I have paid privately since I have been here and was not impressed. The medicare service in the public hospital was great. Any ideas??? Paying out $300 + a month for something that has more exclusions than services.. seems a waste of money! :err:
  4. I know how you feel Jemma, I am very homesick at the moment, can't secure permanent work in Queensland and so have gone further a field to try my luck. I don't have no immeadiate family here either and some days I just want to board a plane!! It has also put a strain on me and my OH hes Australian and so wants to stay, we met in the UK. Where are you living? I am actively trying to get out more. Well good luck !!!
  5. You have to be living with your partner for a minimum of a year before you could apply for a 309 Spouse Visa and be married, and that would only be a temporary visa for 2 years before it would be made permanent. Read up on the Immigrations website, you would need the visa for about to be married. Good Luck!
  6. Don't forget if you have lodged off shore, you have to leave Australia for the 309 to be issued, so if you do go before the visa is granted you will have to take a trip out of Australia and then re-enter. Y ou could go to New Zealand or Fuji, that would be a nice round off!
  7. Hello there!! Sorry about your job dilemma, I feel the same and on top having problems with my OH but thats another story!!! I know what it is like to go days not talking to anyone. I came here and left family and friend, but was committed, just nearly 6 months on and feel very fed up!! Got some casual work so working Christmas and New Year or I would go mad talking to myself. Will be thinking of you, keep your chin up and never give up!!!:xmas21:
  8. Thank you it felt like a lifetime apart from my OH, but was worth the wait. Good luck to all those still waiting x
  9. Well got my Spouse visa granted last Monday and flew out Tuesday night and arrived in Brisbane Thursday morning and so glad to see my OH after over 5 months separation, its been a real worry, I hate flying especially on my own and the flight wasn't the best. Jet lag been a joke, but slept better last night. I still have to pinch myself to believe I am here. I feel that I am living in a dream, but know it will take time to settle. OH is back to work now, and gives me a chance to have a nap. Good luck to all those still waiting, it is worth the wait!!!!
  10. Blimey, Bracknell!! I liked on the outskirts of Reading just up the road from Bracknell, just spent a couple of days visiting family. It's funny because my parents and I all say how much its changed. The quiet leafy village I grew up in is no more; and until I leave for Oz I am in Dorset, slower pace but by heck the hill I live on is a killer. Things change, we change! A new future for all of us I think!!
  11. Have spent the day clearing and cleaning the house, still to clear the kitchen, paint the lounge. Just have just till monday to get this house sorted. Donating the last bit to charity, friend coming monday with car to get the rest to tip, then I wait in anticipation ..........
  12. Good luck will be thinking of you! You can do it!!
  13. Well done to you both for sticking it out, it worked out in the end!!! The world as truely gone mad, good luck for the future and your return to Oz !!!
