  1. You sound really excited, and rightly so ENJOY!
  2. I would have to agree with a previous poster, I think maybe W. H. Smith. I was in my local store, in December, when I was back in the UK about 4 weeks before Christmas and it was empty. The other contender I think could be Laura Ashley, love some of their clothes and housewares, but so expensive, I don't know how they've kept going this long in the recession. Even when they have a sale the prices are still high!
  3. Congrats! enjoy your new hobby!
  4. Having mortein bombed our bedroom, it produced the grand sum of 1 dead cockroach! However add that to the one the night before in our bed, obviously that makes two, now I don't know how to tell the sex of a cockroach but it could have been a male and a female ...... watch this space......... Lol! At least cockroaches aren't poisonous! aren't they? any of them? P.S. Had a really good sleep last night!
  5. Something I had been dreading! I seemed to be in a restless light sleep, and was awoken by something tickling my leg! no it wasn't OH! I thought spider, jumped out of bed, brushed my legs down, didn't find anything. I didn't want to put the light on and wake OH, but our bedroom isn't totally dark, and our bedding is white so I thought it would be easy to see anything, saw nothing got back in to bed. Within 30 seconds could defiinitely feel something running up my leg, shot out of bed again, woke hubby this time, threw on the light only to discover we were sharing our bed with a cockroach!!!!!! Just in case you're wondering, we live in a lovely house in a lovely suburb, and I change our bedding at least once a week, more if it's hot, so no-one is immune. Forgot to say, this is the first time this has happened in the 16 months we've been in the house! Time for a re-spray me thinks. Lol!
  6. That's a lovely piece! I think lots of people on here, having left the Uk, see it with new eyes.
  7. That itch won't stay scratched Lol! Good luck with all your plans, any idea where you will head for this time?
  8. Lovely post to read, it sounds like it's all worked out very well for both of you. The icing on the cake arrives in April. Life will never be quite the same again (in a lovely way) All the best and keep posting.
  9. So sorry to read about your beloved friend. As others have said, at least he was having fun in the sun and was in your arms at the end. At least you didn't have to make the big decision! as we had to years ago. Know how it feels, best wishes to you all.

    Am I crazy??

Hi Mrs B, sorry to hear that you're feeling this way. I too followed your posts, and you were always so positive about going to Oz. I think what others have said is true, 2 months in is a really short time to be making big decisions. We are only on a two year secondment to Oz, but about 6 weeks in, I had a bit of a light bulb moment too, holiday period over, and then it was a slow trudge into our first Christmas in Oz. Doing Christmas shopping in the malls, listening to Christmas carols, and yet it's 30 something degrees outside certainly played with my mind. We are lucky enough to be able to use our free time here to see as much of the country as we can fit in, but when people ask if we would stay on after the two years is up, we would have to say we don't think so. I think it's a really good plan that you are giving yourself a timescale and see how you feel a little further down the line, you're definitely not crazy, just make the most of the time that you're here, and if you then head home, you've had a good long holiday!
  15. Strangely enough, i'm in Perth, and I wish i'd brought my tumble drier, but it's in storage in the UK.
  16. That it was a privilege to have me in their life. It really made my day for a whole load of reasons. Have you said/done something nice to/for someone, or had something nice said/done to/for you today?
  17. My OH and me always laughably disagree on this one. To him, home is wherever we happen to be. For me, as we are in Perth on a two year secondment only, I always say i'm away from home at the moment. I do this in order that when we go home, it will be easier to settle back into the UK and hopefully avoid the pingpong pom syndrome

    Grrrr!

Please don't go, will miss your postings!
  19. We had a light smattering of snow in the south west this morning. It didn't settle, but hoping this means we might have a white Christmas before returning to summer in Perth!
  20. I would have taken them back too. I don't want anything I haven't earned or paid for! I always enjoy the surprise of other people too when someone does the right thing!
