  1. My oh is in environmental health and I'm in electrical, a/c, refrigeration What type of thing are you looking for?
  2. Hi, depends what kind of work you do? We both got jobs before we came, It's not easy and it' s a longer process then you are used to but it is possible, right place right time I guess, are you trying agency or with companies direct, we both did it direct with companies we now work for, good luck
  3. Wow, I did not know that, I guess it was bound to happen at some point
  4. If you have a chance visit Australia house in London and get a visa page put in your passport. You don't need it. It's free. It helped a lot of times with the 100 points of ID you need for many things. You will need to call and make an appointment unless you want to sit a while
  5. he will need to contact one of the recognised training providers and submit his qualifications, they will assess and advise how much of it can be RPL ( recognition of prior learning ) and what additional training modules he will need to do here. It's likely there will be several modules he will need to do to obtain his licence, energysafe will give you a list of recognised providers, 3 from memory around Perth
  6. Girl at work lives in Ellenbrook with her young family, drives in to our offices at the international airport everyday, no problems, add a bit more time for areas you are looking at but she does start at 7.30 so is there not long father 7 so guess she misses the rush traffic, 7.00 to after 9 you are wasting your time trying to get anywhere in tht area in a hurry, Tonkin is start stop all the way, Roe, Leach can be painfully if you can start and finish outside rush hour travel times not too bad from Ellenbrook, if not bring a good book for your drive, you can read a chapter or 2 while you wait for the traffic lights to change
  7. I agree Kalamunda is a lovely spot with everything you need in village type feel, lots going on, good pub, national parks on doorstep, we rented there for 3 months when we first arrived now bought a few mins further along in the hills, lovely and overlooked by everyone heading to the crowded northern suberbs
  8. Brought ours, was not even looked at, was all on the list supplied to customs
  9. We did this, had to go to a nat west branch, show I'd, pay £30 etc. but it was with Moneycorp and then in NAB account in 3 days

    Dog dilemma

From memory you will need either 120 or 150 days after a clear rabies blood test before the dog can enter Australia, speak to bob pet air to confirm, but there wa talk when I was at by ford of quarentine going down to 10 days in jan but this is not law yet just discussion
  12. we shipped 3 bikes, all pressure washed and then chain lubed to stop rust, none of them were looked at, arrived in the same unopend package they left the uk in, the guys from the removal company who delivered them in AUS said normally they will slit the packaging over the tyre and if it is muddy they will open the package, if not they wont, ours wernt even looked at but i pressure washed them, then washed over in disinfectant then lubed, make sure you have done under the saddle and the bottom bracket etc, good luck
  13. all white goods have same connections and will work fine, check rating plate on fridge freezer, look for gas type, if R12 wont be allowed in but it would be really old anyway, if R134a or R600 it will be fine but also check climate class ideal would be 'ST' if it's 'N' it will work fine but may struggle in really hot weather. TV will work fine but you may need to but a digi box for around $40 to $50 - you will need to change the plugs, few $ from Bunnings
  14. tried but got nowhere, heard it can be done though
  15. we used white and co, their partner here is kent moving and we paid $440 today
  16. you dont need it but it does help with the 100 points id you need to buy coffee as said above, its free from Australia house London so we did it and it as been useful twice

  18. Quick phone call to Petair UK - speak to Bob - owner and vet - we found them more than helpful with the many questions we had, they know the system inside out - head office in Dorset but they have an office in Glasgow as well I think - good luck

    Rabies Shots

Rabies jab then wait 2 - 3 weeks for blood test then 2 weeks for results, if pass it's all good if fail which it can do for no reason, repeat the above. Some vets will want to give 2 jabs 2 weeks apart to increase the chance of pass, some think it's not worth it and just do the 1. There is a blood test for leptospirosis a few weeks before travel as they dont have the disease here so if your dog is due a vaccination you should tell the vet not to give the leptospirosis component as this can give a false positive and delay travel. First you should speak to a shipping company who will advise you about all of the process, we used petair UK, try to speak to Bob who is one of the owners and a vet, they were always happy to talk, we had lots of detailed phone calls before we even booked with them, good luck
  20. Emailed on spec with CV, 2 long phone interviews, offered job, accepted, my OH did the same, skype interviews, offered and accepted, both employers waited 3 months as that was the notice my OH had to work when she resigned her UK job, recruitment process here is slower than UK, If you want to try and get a job before you come start now, good luck
  21. Went past this morning as they were removing one of the cars, horrific thing to happen. Reports on the radio this morning say the police called off the chase as he was driving too dangerously to continue but he was still being followed by the police helicopter, he hit the taxi about a minute after they stopped the chase
