Agree with all this, your house insurance is on the low side as is your food budget, eating out is way expensive. Would you manage without a car, long term I'd say no, things are spread out here and although good, the train lines don't go to all the places you want to go with kids etc. I can work from home for the odd day here and there but as said before its not the norm and they expect to see you in the office daily. If we go to the city or the CBD I drive to the station, park for free and get the train in for $4 each way. Perth is an expensive place to live in a lot of ways but for us it's a better life, outdoors, weather, work/ life balance etc than in the UK
