We know we are entitled to family assistance here in australia but are we also able to claim help with childcare costs or do we have to be resident for 2 years before we can claim the 50% chilcare fees back?? Thanks Allison

  8. This is probably a stupid question but never mind!! We have shipping company booked to pack us up on 11th and 12th feb. I am presuming that they do everything like bring boxes and pack all our stuff. Do I need to have anything packed before they come??
  9. Hi I applied for 12 month career break from the NHS. I am currently a Band 6 in Gastroenterology. I am going to a clinical tutor position on the Sunshine Coast. My trust granted my break, I was upfront about working and as long as my work in Oz will broaden my knowledge and experiences then it was ok. Allison
  10. Hi harriet I am a nurse and I managed to get a clinical nurse position in Nambour, I applied from the Uk and had a telephone interview. My husband is going to get the children settled and then look for work when we are there. I have 3 children 16,13 and 3 so have looked around at schools. My best friend lives in mooloolaba and is married to an Australian so she has been a great help. I also have a friend who emigrated to the Gold Coast on Boxing day and so far so good for her. I too am very nervous but from being in touch with a lot of people it seems to be something we all go through!! I am sure it will live up to your dreams, it certainly lived up to mine it is a beautiful area. Keep in touch and let me know how you go on Allison x
  11. Hi ya We are moving permanently to the sunshine coast in approx 5 weeks. We are going to Buderim. We went on holiday and it is the most beautiful place in the world and are so excited about going back to live. I hope you love it. Australia zoo is something else!! Hope you enjoy your trip!!! Allison
  12. Hi Jane We are moving to Sunshine coast in 6 weeks. We have a 17 year old daughter who is in her first year of A levels which she is not particularly enjoying despite doing well at GCSE. We decided beginning of december that we were not going to go to Oz because her education is more important and the uni situation because if we move she would not comply with the residency ruling here in the uk for tuition grants etc. However literally last week after much discussion we decided that life is way to short and we are all agreed that the move is back on and she is coming with us. She will have to go back a year but she is ok with that. Also we plan on staying in Oz so she will be two years into the 5 required for citizenship to obtain uni grants in Oz. We did toy with the idea of leaving her here to finish A levels with grand parents however i think this would mean she would never come over which I could not bear!! She would just continue onto uni here and I couldnt do that, i feel its to far to be away from her, thats how I feel anyway, it may suit some families but I could never do it. Allison
  13. We are hoping to go to Oz in January on a PR Visa however it has took us five years to be in a position to move (house not selling etc etc) Our daughter is now in her first year of A levels and we are realising things are not as straight forward as they were 5 years ago. We are thinking about just going to Oz for 12 months in January and for her to come out in june after her first year of a levels has finished. We would move back in 2014 as she can then commence her 2nd year of A levels in september 2014. She would only have been in Oz for 6/7 months. Does anyone know where this would put her in regards to applying for UK uni as she wont have been in the UK for the previous 3 years but would only have been absent for 6/7 months? Sorry for waffling on but I cant believe how complicated this is!!
  14. HI I have just done this with my kids passports, we have perm residency visas and kids passports expired with label in. I filled in form 929 and included certified copy of new passport. Sent on Friday morning and got email confirmation that new passport had been electronically linked to visa on Monday. Very quick process and no need for new label. Allison
