  1. The Medicare staff when we applied for ours when on the 457 wouldn't except the email from DIAC themself!! I told them that the visa being electronically attached to the passport can be looked up via the ref number I can provide . Its all linked for easy look up. It took a manager an argument and a decloration to allow them to look up the visa via the ref to even process the paper work with the parting comment you won't get one sir. Funny enough 5 days later guess what I have a medicare card. Funny that
  2. I'd be brutally honest and say that's my idea. Obviously with confidence and conviction and be ready for the come back when asked to prove that.
  3. I dont remember having to provide birth certs. All docs were certified by solicitor that was our MA also
  4. I hardly go to the bank at all. Everything done on the old smart phone. From paying the electric and rent to checking what I really have in my bank account instead of a guesstimate that I would have to pay for if I couldnt find my own banks atm.

  12. To the op sorry it did't work out for you. On the another note about retirement..... my old man retired at 50 in the UK. but got board after about 18 months and went back to work as a part time lecturer. He was one of only a hand full of people that could do the job he did before that, plant and systems engineer for the then National grid. The Americans come in thought they knew best and stuffed everything up lol. Happy days early retirement. Americans left up the creek without a paddle.
  13. I was asked to pay $4500 over 12 months and the remainder in full if I left before the 12 month period was up.
  14. I have to say I knew from almost the moment I landed for a holiday in Melbourne almost 10 years ago that I wanted to live here even though it was winter. I don't know what it is but I've been very privileged to be able to travel around most of the world including the US and Africa, no other place had that pull, yeah out of this world holidays but no desire to want to live there. Strange.
  15. Craigieburn, VIC use to live there Now in SA around the corner from Morphett Vale
  16. I haven't changed mine and for the last four years i just claim it all back at the end of the year i had a cool 7k to play with last year this year maybe just short of 8k You live to yours means. yes i could get paid a lot more each month if i claimed the tax free threshold.
  17. I was a Project Manager in the UK with 9 years experience, but no Australian recognized qualifications. I had to source sponsorship 457 though my skill set, even face to face its not an easy thing to do. Your find that a majority of company's will find the process "to hard and/or to expensive". That company also has to fit a criteria and be approved to employ from oversea. This job has also got to be offered to the Australian market first. That being said I done it WHV 457 PR, I was told loads of times its not possible its too much of a risk it this that and the other but i did not give up and shear persistence and a bit of luck we now have PR Ironically I work in immigration.
  18. I'd be interested in the exit strategy's
  19. I changed mine from Uk to OZ licence after about a week as I needed it to gain 100 points when in vic that was on a WHV i still have both but a SA licence now i have PR

  21. yes a two year wait for a ENS, A company willing to nominate you and foot the fees and meet the criteria of the ens and you must also meet the criteria of the medical examinations
  22. If it helps i did not have any qualifications come out on a 417 WHV and just pumped everyone for sponsorship got offered a 457after canvasing the company that rang my sister to offer her an interview for a part time job. literally the second day in the 457 i asked about what education options there were and got enrolled on a diploma. 2 year anniversary applied for PR. Dec 2013 granted. I was told so many times it couldn't be done but i just stuck to fingers up at everyone and never gave up Good luck its not easy but so worth it
