  1. I presume your real question is how do you continue to service your debts while you are away as opposed to walking away from them and coming back to a mess when you return. Am I correct?

    please help!!

You need the advice of an agent - hopefully one will be following this thread. As your sponsor there will be rules as to what they have to do in terms of paperwork if they terminate your employment. A verbal conversation cannot be sufficient in my mind, but I'm no expert on this.

    please help!!

Might be worth speaking to the citizens advice people but gut feel is that is probably more hassle than it's worth. Have they given you anything in writing? I would put your energy into finding someone who values your skills more than that crowd obviously did. Chin up.
  4. Oh ****, Jess. Was waiting for you to update your thread. Had my fingers crossed for you but obviously your chat didn't't go the way you'd hoped.
  5. Wesfarmers maybe. Their risk is spread across various market segments.
  6. I can be a knob on here at times but I'm harmless really. Didn't mean to hijack your thread. Hope you got some useful feedback in amongst the various ramblings.
  7. The value of your investment can go down as well as up  Best tip I can give you.
  8. Sorry to hear that, Paul. The 90 days is right and I think it applies retrospectively but 'm sure someone will along shortly with an answer.
  9. ROTFL, PMSL and all those other expressions I really hate :biglaugh: Unfortunately neither of us is ADAM so we'd better clear off before we upset the OP any further.
  10. And Gillard was born in Wales. Time DIAC polished their crystal ball when granting visas!
  11. We got automatic refunds too in about the same time frame. Note that you may not get much as PAYE is worked out on a cumulative basis so unless you stopped working a couple of months before leaving the UK the tax deducted will be about right.
  12. Not sure if your user name is the same as your own but I'd be thinking you'll be at the bottom of the NSW applications pile by now  You just have to patient like Adam says and "go with the flow" regardless of your frustrations.
  13. Couldn't actually tell you but presume it would depend on the size of the firm. Try Hays.com.au and see if they have a salary guide on their website. Normally they do these by job type and location.
  14. You would probably dislike those same individuals for the same reasons regardless of their nationality.
  15. Keep an eye on the WHV/back packers vacancies section of PIO (if you are not already) as Kate (one of the site admins) regularly places items in there.
  16. My thoughts are that it's not a rhetorical question
  17. I hope you're not ripping off the prescription system by getting repeats that are not required. Not very ethical behaviour in my eyes. If it's over the counter stuff then that's up to you but Australia does have chemist shops too! Liquid Nurofen is the closest equivalent to Calpol and comes in different age "strengths" and a couple of different flavours.
  18. Sorry, a bit off tangent but all I can think about was that "welcome to Bradistan" sign at the start of East is East!
  19. But the thread title is "rhetorical question". Call me a pedant. Again.
  20. An awful lot of replies to a rhetorical question. Just saying....
  21. Do you have a super fund or is it all hidden under the mattress? Property and stocks are what your fund are mucking about in on your behalf unless they're at the Crown every night!
  22. Depends as a falling dollar makes imports more expensive. Obviously if you are transferring GBP to AUD then it there is an upside but that may be short lived based on the other thread about positive news from China. My brain can't get round the numerator/denominator effect of what it does to purchasing power though.
