  1. It's cheaper if you have a loyalty card. We have one for Grand Cinemas so pay $12 for a normal screening as opposed to $22 without the card. Card is $60 (I think) but you get a couple of free tickets and popcorn upgrades etc. so pays itself off really quickly even if you go once a month (as a family).
  2. Positive one - petrol is significantly cheaper. But why do we have that silly weekly price cycle thing where Wednesday is the cheapest day of the week to buy it? What happened to the pump price following the price of crude oil?
  3. We know you have a lot on your plate right now so no one would dream of calling you ignorant i look forward to your banter once you're back in the right place for that sort of thing Hope Mrs T is bearing up okay
  4. Try this recent thread http://www.pomsinoz.com/forum/transport-shipping/203669-any-advise-shipping-tools.html
  5. No, unlimited plans for mobile broadband
  6. But statistics can be manipulated!
  7. Depends what you are comparing it to
  8. I would say let him go, but he's not my child so that makes the decision easier on my part. I truly feel for any parent in that position but if the trial is not going to give him an improvement in his quality of life between now and the inevitable then it is probably a very mature decision not to go ahead with it hard as it may seem.
  9. Yep, open and honest does the trick. We had polished shell jewelry from Tahiti and they didn't even ask to see it as it had been declared on the AQIS form. I'm also a great believer that if you are a resident or citizen then they trust you more to do the right thing than if you are a tourist. We have never had our bags screened other than when we first arrived in the country.
  10. I'm in Perth. The market is quite sluggish and has been for about 12 months.
  11. And if they are anything like the guy who tried to persuade me to make an appointment then they are a) full of sh!t b) know less about what they are selling than I do (and that's not much) stock answer to these door to door people or the ones in the malls is, "sorry, I'm renting at the moment rather than getting drawn in to their sales pitches.
  12. Yes, almost 4 years in and eligible to apply for citizenship next month I have my CPA through the alliance you mentioned
  13. Most of the gyms around you are the 24 hour type that are unmanned for a good bit of the day unfortunately. There are a few in Joondalup so on the train line for you or try the Arena in Joondalup. It's the council run sports complex so may be worth a try too. It's still a bit off opening the expansion but there are a lot of shops in the Lakeside shopping centre in Joondalup and they may be taking expressions of interest for the new stores that will be opening. Might be worth popping in and going to the centre management office and ask if they know anything. good luck and hopefully you'll find something soon.
  14. Have you considered a skills assessment from the Chartered Accountants body? I'm ACMA too but for some reason (I have no idea why) did mine with the CA body rather than CPA. It's more cost but possibly worth considering.
  15. Hi Jade What's your experience / what sort of work are you looking for?
  16. Have you given up Steve or are you still trying to make the move?
  17. Rather than get into it I'll defer to The Pom Queen's "warning" and let it go. All the best for your ACT submission.
  18. Also depends on the visa / purpose. Colour scans of originals was all we had to upload.
  19. It's a bit scary but anyone can request a copy of a birth certificate if they know the person's name and date of birth. apparently it is because they are public records but you'd think it would be harder than that with identity fraud and the like.
  20. Don't forget the Darwin post too
  21. What was the reason for the PhD snub out of curiousity?
  22. And obviously if they are over 100ml they will need to go in your hold baggage or they will be taken from you before you get on the flight.
  23. There's a difference between holding certifications required to demonstrate competency and trying to impress or belittle people by shoving them in their face like the example above which G Taylor obviously does not intend to put on a business card. I also have a number of qualifications and membership of professional institutes but similarly I would never put them after my name either. Mr. is the only letters regularly associated with my name in public
  24. What is wwoofing? Is it anything like dogging?
