  1. Easter holidays aren't that far away if you were to do them through the week.
  2. Roasted chickens are $10 or more for an "anorexic" bird but not sure what they cost in Tesco/Asda these days.
  3. Good news if it is true, but call me a cynic with the timing.
  4. Only thing I really hear is the odd hoon doing burnouts in the distance but the noise travels when it's otherwise quiet.
  5. Assuming you are talking about a 457: https://www.immi.gov.au/Services/Pages/employer-sponsored-workers-online-applications.aspx Otherwise, www,immi.gov.au and search for what you need from there.
  6. I agree with the getting advice bit. Obviously if you bank it and earn interest then Mr ATO will want the interest declared on your tax return.
  7. Can't see why it's harsh. 13 mph over the limit is more than the 10% + 1 mph "allowance" that is typically given before prosecuting and whilst I will admit to having exceeded the speed limit on the A9, 90 mph is reckless given the number of fatalities that road has seen with innocent parties normally the victims. Someone who has racked up 16 points obviously has a blatant disregard for the rules of the road. A ban would have given them time to consider their actions.
  8. Glad you have the answer. Nothing as satisfying as working it out for yourself. Good luck with the rest of the paperwork.
  9. Hi, not sure where you are from, but if she is your wife can she not use yours?
  10. Medibank is potentially going to be privatised (currently owned by the government) so this is maybe just a step to delink the relationship ahead of that. As a private member of BUPA I have had no issues with their services so can't see it changing anything really.
  11. Possible debris has been found. Damn, there goes my expert opinion that it was an alien abduction of the plane...
  12. As a frequent visitor (monthly) to KL in a previous job I can assure you that all passports are checked on arrival (you can queue for over an hour if several flights land close together) and they also do index finger scanning so speculation on Malaysian security as a cause of this tragedy is unfair until FACTS are known.
  13. Bumping your post. Hopefully one of the migration agents can offer their opinion.
  14. I know the thread titles are short but there were actually 239 people of 14 different nationalities aboard, not just 6 Australians. A tragedy for all affected families.
  15. I would speak to a registered migration agent for advice. This is a public forum by the way so chasing up your own post when no one has replied after 30 minutes isn't going to do you any favours with the community.
  16. Just watch for insurance if you go back for a visit. MIL just tried to put my OH on her car insurance and they won't do it because we are Australian residents. Crazy given that we still drive on the same side of the road.
  17. Hi CaptainC it's a public forum so no need to wait for an invitation and no need to apologise either. It's a useful link for many people so thanks for the post.
  18. Comes back to the old expression, "Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach." My father (a teacher) added to it "and those who can't do or can't teach become lecturers." I think the long holidays are part of the attraction though.

    BobJ Reminiscing...

Thanks for obliging, Bob. I'll never look at caulis in the same way again!
  20. Congrats, Bob. If the weather is keeping you indoors then maybe you can share another of your fantastic life stories with us instead. Fishing theme or otherwise it's up to you.
  21. Central Business District, or possibly Complete Bl**dy D!ckhead depending on the context (can't find the post)

    Apple says 'no'.

I was being a bit flippant fish, but the original iPad won't run iOS 7 (maybe even 6, don't have one so don't know) and product obsolescence is not just an Apple thing. White goods are no longer designed or built to last 20+ years or more like they used to. Cheaper to replace than repair most items.
  23. Do you not need to sign the photo licence bit though when it gets to 2016? we just let ours expire but still have the physical documents
