  1. I work at a uni in Queensland and the beginning of the semester is late February.
  2. We booked with Alpha car hire and initially had no problems but now, even a year later, we still occasionally get tickets and tolls charged to our card that aren't ours and then have to fight to get it dealt with.
  3. We brought our mattress and frame over. It is a UK superking.
  4. We are in the western suburbs but don't care if they are North or South.
  5. Can anyone recommend a good accountant in Brisbane? My hubby is an IT contractor and I work part-time and we need a decent tax accountant to help us with our upcoming tax return.
  6. My husband works in IT and never works less than 40 hours per week and often more.
  7. We were with Westpac and there were no charges but they were absolutely useless as a bank so we left them. We are now with Bankwest and we love them.
  8. We spend about $250-$280 a week on groceries now and spent about £120-£150 a week in the UK. There are 5 of us.
  9. Thanks for that. Did you just wait and save up or did you get separate finance?
  10. My husband and I are planning on purchasing our first home in Australia within the next few months. The majority we like do not have pools already and we definitely want to have one put in. The question we have is how to pay for it. Is it a matter of saving the cash for the pool or is finance available? We have been pre-approved for the mortgage and a friend said that she was able to have one mortgage that covered the sale of the home (on one sales contract) and the pool quote (on another sales contract) but she was building hers and not buying one already built. Is this possible or do most people just save for the pool?
  11. Both are recognised but Prince2 seems more desired. It also seems that a lot of recruiters aren't as aware of PMP and therefore reject applicants that are thoroughly qualified.
  12. I know that some girls at my eldest's school used Internet based schools and said they were quite good.
  13. Are you looking to share accommodation or live on your own?
  14. We are with HCF and have been quite pleased with them. They pay my claims rapidly and cover a lot of things that were important to us.
  15. Can anyone shed some light on these suburbs? I know the traffic is horrific on Moggill Rd but we would like to buy some acreage for our children and horses and these look to be good value. I know a lot of investors are buying out this way but don't know a lot about the area. We don't need to be worried about schools as my kids are already enrolled in schools and would commute in. We had looked at The Gap but the commute times still look long to my kids schools and my work.
  16. Our rent is 37% of my husband's income and with us both working it is 27%. We are planning on our mortgage payment being the same percentages. I was amazed that the mortgage companies were willing to allow us a mortgage payment that would be over 55% of our take home pay. That isn't sustainable.
  17. We live in Toowong and we have a 14 year old and 6 year old twins if you ever fancy meeting up.
  18. The closest train station to Tennyson is in Graceville or Chelmer. I live in Toowong and it takes me about 15-20 minutes to get to Tennyson, which is just a few km's, away. Traffic here is awful. To get to Coomera from where I live is about an hour and a half.
  19. The is a brilliant riding school in The Gap and there are places to go out on a hack in Fig Tree Pocket and out towards Pullenvale and Brookfield. We are hoping to move out that way so we can have the horses on our property.
  20. Very well said. I used to work in Peterborough and the average tea or coffee was well over £4.
  21. I love Sherwood. If it were my choice, I would live there in a heartbeat.
  22. I have the Toyota Kluger and it has been brilliant and it can do everything we need it to.
  23. I opened up our Westpac accounts via post and everything was set up very easily. We have since left Westpac but they did make opening the account very easy.
