  1. Thanks for the replys, Il see what I can do, it's so hard seeking work when your not in the country. Was kinda hoping to opt out of the fifo work, do you think there is much if this in this line if work, my husband dosent seem to hunk so
  2. Hello My husband is a on track machinery technician. he has permanent residency status in Australia, Is there much work in Oz at the minute for his line of work? we have looked on seek etc but find it very hard to find his particular job as I think they call it by a different name over there. Thanks in advance julie
  3. I also would like to know the answer to this!!! I am in a similar situation
  4. I have sent them an email, not heard anything back yet.
  5. Hi all wondering if you can help!!! We were granted our 175 permanent residency visa last year? We used a migration agent during this process everything went smoothly...part of the process was to get my husband’s trade recognized (Tra) Anyway he applied for a job in oz this week and they asked us for his Tra Certificate??? We have never received any cert I just assumed this was all tied in with the visa approval, anyhow we contacted the migration agent to ask them to explain what has happened and they told us that the TRA cert is still with the TRA board in oz. :arghh: Has anyone had any similar experience? I am feeling hard done by the migration agent as I paid them a total of £3000 during the visa process and £1500 of this was for the TRA process..in which I technically do not have. thanks in advance Julie
  6. Hi We have our visas now, and yes we did a TRA. Do you have the Fitter Guide? it basically just tells you what they class as a fitter. There is a lot in the TRA they want every detail. our agent told us to explain everthing.
  7. I think it is just "fitter" My partner is a plant fitter also and thats what we applied under good luck
  8. Hi again I am actually from Liverpool but gary is from Dublin which is where we live now. Gary was only in the mines a short while as he was on a working holiday visa at the time he said it was good while it lasted (money was good) but wouldent like to live there full time. I see you are looking at fifo, that would probebly be the best option in my opinion as your getting the best of both worlds also 2:1 work roster is very good. do you have any preferance as to where to would like to go? julie
  9. Hi Ritchie My partner is a plant fitter and we are also from Ireland so just wanted to say hi. We have just been granted our 175 permanent visa and are looking to head over to OZ early next year. there seems to be a lot of jobs at the moment in fitting, gary has been offered a few positions (before our perm visa come through) but unlike yourself we are not willing to go into the mines so we are hoping to secure a job in one of the cities when we have sorted out our house. Gary worked in the mines when he was in OZ on a working holiday visa, money is good but its very isolated. anyhow good luck with your move
  10. Hi we used visa bureau also, and could not fault them at all. we have just had out visa granted and have had excellent service from start to finish.
  11. I know the house strain is a pain, we have decided to rent ours out, garys working around the clock doing any maintenance and repairs so we won't have to worry about it when we are in oz. Cannot wait to go now I only emailed an agency in oz last night about a job and recieved an email back today telling us they would be interested go figure hopfully all will work out fine.
  12. I know the 3 year wait has been tough, I was quite worried after doing our meds they might go and change the processing again like they did in march 2009. Think we are planning to head for Sydney in jan but will go were the work is really. Our agent sent us a link for a job site you can go on when you visa is granted, it's only for migrants with visas to help you get work I don't know how it works yet as you need to wait 21 days after you get your grant to register with them but I think it could be really usfull as they know you may not be able to start job immediately. Where and when you do plan on heading too? Julie
  13. Thanks all Tania I'm sure you wont be far behind. We are just about to sit down and go through all the links our agent has sent us, I still cannot believe it I'm soooooooo excited hehe

  21. Hi guys Just thought I would fill you all in.... I have just checked my emails and I have one from our agent stating that we now have a case officer and are requesting our police and medical checks. Hopefully not long now we are so excited.
  22. Hi thanks for the heads up will have to give them a call to chase that up. It's been so long now it's great to hear things are starting to move again hopefully it won't be too long for us all.
  23. Hi Oh is a maintenance/ plant fitter. The job offer was in mackay there seems to be a few companies there looking for plant fitters. Also double checked email and agent did say we are now cat 3....see below Today DIAC updated the occupation lists, and I’m happy to say that your occupation has been elevated to priority group 3. This means you can expect to have your application processed a lot quicker than it was before, especially considering it was lodged some time ago. I will be in touch again as soon as there is any news or update.
  24. Hi We also are waiting for visa applied for 175 aug 2008 and still waiting. We received an email from our agent telling up we have been moved up the priority list and now fall under cat 3 which they think may take 9- 12 months approx (this is just there estimate from experience) Hope this is good news for you all, my hubby has been offered a job in north Queensland on a 457 visa we are now unsure whether to take it if the 175 is coming through shortly.
