1. Myself & daughter have both got phones with Crazy Johns and are very happy. We have good reception in our area and as we don't travel far they are great. We both have pre paid. It is really cheap. Texts 1 cent per minute. Liz x
 2. We are in WA. I too spend at least $250-$300 pw on 2 adults & 2 children. You are not alone. Liz x
 3. Congratulations. Have a great weekend celebrating. Liz x
 4. Go to Freemantle on Sundays for the market. Hilary's Boat Harbour is lovely and has plenty of eating places. Just up the road is AQWA the aquarium. You walk under the water in a tunnel. Sharks ect swimming overhead. Go into the hills and have a tour around the winery. Have a lovely time. Liz x
 5. We are renting our house out in Northern Ireland and are living in a rental property here in Perth. We have been here 1 year and 3 months are have almost saved the deposit needed. That is on OHs wage alone. We are looking at properties at the minute but haven't fell in love with anything as yet. The longer we wait the more deposit we will have so not in any great rush. Liz x
 6. Many congratulations on your visa grant. Liz x

 8. Hi Lee Welcome to PIO. Good luck with your journey. By the way I love the name of your village. Liz x
 9. Hi Playghirl We had a tax return for 3 months last year (arrived end of March). Did it online. Didn't find it overly difficult at all. Just a bit time consuming. Try it. Liz x
 10. Hi Cat I have never heard of anyone having to register arrival. When you come through customs they scan your passport. You are then automatically registered. Liz x
 11. I am from Ireland and the Auzzies think I am Scottish!!!! Liz x
 12. Hi Kerry We brought only £10,000 for our family of 4. Warren got a job in 2 weeks and started in 4. Things do appear expensive at first but once you are earning dollars it works out quite similar. We shipped everything and we are really glad we did. If nothing else it makes you feel more at home to have items that are familiar to you. I think replacing all the small items mounts up to lots of money. Target, K Mart, Big W and don't forget Ikea, are all good for cheap buys to keep you going until your belongings arrive. All the best. Liz x
 13. Came to WA a year ago with no job in place. Hubby who is a diesel mechanic went on to seek.com and applied for 18 jobs. Sent resume and a covering letter. Within a few hours he had 16 replies all wanting to interview him. He picked 6 and organised to do them all 2 days later. He was offered positions with them all. He picked the one that was best for him and is still there and loving it. Do tell prospective employers how wonderful you are. They don't go for the modest approach over here. Hubby found that quite hard to do but it works. Also haggle for wages and perks. Hubby got Ute, laptop and mobile. Was at work in a fortnight. People are still texting to see if he is happy where he is or if he would like to go work for them. Liz x

Just read this back and realised it might look like you need 2 years pay slips, not so only maybe 5 or 6 recent ones.

Hi Tabitha 10

My husband is a diesel mechanic. We went through an agent for our TRA. Warren had to send verified copies of all his certificates, schools and colleges attended with length of time there, also proof of having worked in his trade for either 2 or 3 years (can't remember which) out of the last 5. Up to date pay slips and P60's for previous couple of years. Hope this is of some help. If I think of anything else will let you know.

Hi Karen

Sorry I haven't been in touch for a while. Was really fed up with the news of the changes to CSL. Didn't have the heart to come on to the site properly. We have changed our visa to a 176 now so hopefully things will start to move. Have you had any news on your application yet?

Hope you, hubby and kids are all well.

Hi Dawny

Great to hear from you. We are also undecided as to where to go. Thinking of Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills, but won't really know until we get there. I have relatives in Mount Barker way down south. May have to go to them for a while if they will have us.

If you get there first you can let us know where is nice. Lets hope someone gets there soon.

Hi Dawn

Great to hear from you. Like yourself we are undecided. Mount Barker in the Adelaide Hills seems to suit our ideas, but until we get there won't really know. Also I have relatives in Mount Gambier right down the bottom so we might go there for a while.

Hi Karen

We also have friends who went to Perth. They are doing really well there, but I just don't know if it is for us. Isn't it strange how you make a decision on a place that you have never set foot in. Like yourselves we live in the country (and like it) and don't want to move to a city environment. Mount Barker just outside Adelaide calls to us. We like the idea of the mediteranian climate, also no crocodiles, and a few less things to kill you.

Over here is really beautiful, but it is just soooo cold. Had the kids at Portstewart yesterday flying kites. Great fun but had to put on so many layers of clothes to keep warm. Never mind, some day we will all be complaining of the heat.

Warren had to work this morning. Quiet here at the moment. Hopefully he will be home soon for dinner.
