It will be neither because they are LHD vehicles and in Aus it is RHD.

Sorry for the slow responses guys, two massive Christmas functions at Casa Del Iron Chef (for 40 people each!) then New Year celebrations at ours again has slowed down things a bit!

Dear Iron Chef,

Please guide me:

As pwkl said, best to leave them there only because you'd be looking at $10,000 at least to convert them to RHD. In the end it's not the money, it's having little niggly things go wrong (like, purely hypothetically, the accelerator pedal is slightly different and the wear causes holes in your carpet) that would drive you nuts!

Having said that Prado 3-doors were never sold here, so you would end up with something that was worth good money to 4WD nuts.

Hi mate

peugeot 207 2008 petrol aircon 31k miles £4000

Paul

Hi Paul, can you go back and list all the info I mentioned in the first post? I need it all so we can compare.

Hi we have a vauxhall zafira reg 2005,( with air con) mileage 68,000, UK value approx £3,700, aus value $7,900

Is it worth bring it or not?

It's a C, so sell it off, unfortunately the Zafira was never a big seller here.

Congrats on moving to the best city in Australia! It's probably a B, being a 1.3 reduces its appeal here somewhat. It's not worth much in the UK which helps the case for bringing it over.

It's a category B, bordering on A, worth doing it if you like having a manual/diesel combo as they're not normally sold here.

Being a 1.6 will kill its appeal here when the time comes to sell, I'd err on the side of leaving it behind unless you REALLY love it or plan to keep it for a while.

From my understanding if you have had any structural work done it would need a engineers report and maybe a lot of extra work to comply over here or they do a rally car rego which would allow you to drive on roads during a rally.

i have a works spec GpA 205 at home in uk collecting dust

Ok the Touran wasn't sold here, but because VW loves to share parts amongst all its models (like the 1.9 litre diesel engine which is shared with your other car...) it wouldn't be a problem getting it serviced if you brought it over. Realistically, it's just into a category C, but there's no equivalent diesel-powered small MPV on sale here, so bring it over if you love its combo of good points.

The A3 is coming out as a B, but the only equivalent model we got here was a poverty-spec model aimed at fuel misers. I'd be inclined to bring it, as the extra features would help its resale later on.

Hi Iron Chef !!

I have a MINI ONE (2011) Registered June 2011 with 7500k, UK Value 9K, Redbook $19K - $21K

This has bluetooth, pepper pack, aircon etc .... how does this look ?

Thanks

Tony

Hi Tony, missing a few bits of info, but at a glance it's a category A in the calculator.

Hi Iron Chef,

Here are the stats:-

2007 Volvo S40 1.6 petrol, air con, heated(!!) leather seats, alloys 89k miles worth £4500 in UK and $15000 in Aus.

Hi Fabscouter, for shipping on RORO, we allow GBP300 to get it across from Dublin to Southampton, then normal costs from there. I would've said it was an 'A' but we never got an engine smaller than a 2.4 litre in the S40 here, so I'd pull it back to a B - only bring it if you want to keep it for a while. If you're planning on doing lots of country driving, remember you will need to plan ahead before overtaking road trains ;)

Hi.....2006 BMW320i 36.000miles, petrol, air con, leather interior..... value in UK £8500 and in Oz 21,000

Thanks

Smack bang in the middle of category B - low mileage helps its cause though, if you were thinking of bringing it.

would i be able to take a mk 2 escort grp 4 spec over to oz? perth , cosworth YB turbo engine? whats the rules around these please? another one o ma toys am afraid, thanks stevie

Well you can bring it in (I would highly advise getting our help on this one though), but getting it registered would take a bit of work. It's not impossible though. As rallyman says, it will need an engineer's certificate for the engine change.

From my understanding if you have had any structural work done it would need a engineers report and maybe a lot of extra work to comply over here or they do a rally car rego which would allow you to drive on roads during a rally.

i have a works spec GpA 205 at home in uk collecting dust

Rally registration allows you a little more freedom than that ;) Message me if you'd like help getting the 205 over, I can get it sorted. If it was a group B rather than a group A, I would have been foaming at the mouth!

i did think this wud be a hassle but would like to take it over, the car wud never be on road jist a play thing for me , odd track event etc

No problems at all then, but like I say, best to get some help with the application side of things at the very least.
