I am sat in the middle of the kids bedroom having a nervous breakdown, I am throwing so much out but there are still far too many toys that the kids are attached to, and that's before I even start on the rest of the house, how on earth are we going to shift all this before we go

Um I hummed and Harred about this one....leadding myself to almost having a nervous breakdown. I insisted on every bloody toy and most of the clothes going. By mistake found I have 1 suitcase of newborn baby vvlothes which thought I was dead attatched to but now am feeling that it is meant to be that I letgo of the past!!!

My advice is Just take it!!! Part with it in your own time!!

The first time I moved to Oz, and I STRONGLY refute the name 'ping pong pom' there were reasons I had to come back. I cleared the house with a Martin Lewis approach: do you need it? I was lucky in the fact that I could leave stuff with relatives, but once I got to oz, I realised that I didn't need half the stuff I'd taken. I imagine, its all about sentimentality and if my daughter was still under 5, I would have wanted to hang on to her baby stuff, but I certainly wouldn't need it. I hope I'm not being too harsh. Good luck with your progress anyway.

Started to fill in the import licence application forour car and discovered we dont have enough points:arghh: We need 100 points and we are sitting at 25:arghh: Apperently we need prove we have applied for Medicare, driving Licence, have a resignation letter for our job, Offer in writting of a job in Oz, Utility bills etc etc. The way we get them is to live in Oz, maybe I am a bit dim but I am trying to move to Oz and take my possessions with me, do the Australian government want us to live like paupers for 3 months + until our goods arrive. I can honestly say that if I new how difficult and expensive the whole process was I would not have started, where's the beer:cry:

aaaaaawwwwwwwww bless you. It will be ok, take a step back, a deep breath and think calmly what you can do next to make all of this a practicality.

well i haven't done too bad with the kids room, all the good stuff is in boxes and the rubbish, or most of it is now in the skip int he form of 5 black bin liners. I've also sorted out the kids clothes and filled abin liner with old stuff which is too small and i will fill another with the winter stuff once we pack the cases. All we need to do now is sort through what of the good stuff is coming with us and what will be sold or donated

I am from Perth but we are heading to Brisbane as there is a great specialist school there for our son and I love the heat! I am sure that Tas is very lovely, but it is a tad cold for me. :cute: PIO is fantastic! We couldn't have made some very vital decisions without the valued and very kind input offered on here by other members. When are you hoping to go? how long will your visa take to sort out once you submit it?

Sounds good! I think your plan will defo work! Yeah, your visa shouldn't take too long, I was going to book our flights as well, but told myself to hold down the excitement as we have way longer than you to wait. We are looking at going to the Northern suburbs of Brisbane as we have just learned that there is the perfect school there for our son Theo, he wants to be a pilot and there is a school called Aviation High there which is a fantastic opportunity for him! Everything is starting to slot nicely into place for us. Hope you manage to get your visa way before May. stay in touch and let us know how you go.

Keep going! Everyone in your situation is probably going thru the same emotional, mental, ecomical stress. I did it all in 1999 and lost 3 stone in weight in the process. Your whole life is turned into turmoil. I did it all alone aged 41, no agents, house sold, visits to the Aussie embassy etc., so I'm sure anyone can do it! There are ways and means, sometimes you just need to sit back and contenplate the situation.

At the end of the day, it was worth it. Chin up!

Have made an appointment for an estate agent to come and see our house next week to sort out what should be done to sell the house and what we can leave for the next owners and not waste our £££ and effort doing. That said - have also had 3 rooms measured for new carpet and just need to decide what colour to have - should be an easy decision seeing as how I don't plan on looking at it for much longer!

We do what we do when we do it because it feels and calculates to be the right thing to do at the time, so try not to dwell too much on shoulda woulda coulda's. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, your time apart is proof of just that. I understand, my husband and I find it very difficult to be apart from each other, and being so very far apart I can imagine only feels worse in that knowledge. Remember this: when you look up at the sky you are both standing under the same sun, the same moon, and the same stars. Tonight, if the sky is clear, look to the sky, and see if you can spot Orions Belt, it is a group of stars made up of 3 in a direct row and then a 4th star which completes a triangle with the 3. No matter where you are in the world, you can see the same sky which warms the heart knowing that distance is a more of a psychological phenomenon than a physical one. Your time will come, and I pray that it only comes fast for you and everything will miraculously come into line and work in your greatest favor. Imagine the joy and the closeness when you are reunited! Chantel
