I also bought some suncream today, just a couple of botles to keep us going until we can buy some over there.

flights booked! :biggrin:leaving 14/5. Fingers crossed that broken leg has mended by then...

Not flying directly to Oz, spending 8 weeks in Sri Lanka en route for a couple of reasons. OH and me have always wanted to go, but never had the chance. Next reason is that by doing this, our stuff that we are shipping, should be well on its way.

Skyped with OH this morning, trying to work out when me and little dog can set off to OZ.

Waiting to be reimbursed from relocation grant, :arghh::arghh: once this is paid we can get on with things.

This living in two countries on one months income is really hard, hopefully though OH will be paid next week ..... Looking forward to saying goodbye to Mr & Mrs Scrooge :daydreaming:

Hello!

Today I have done a coupleof IELTS reading examples, posted my RPL and suuporting documents to our migration consultants, completed a chronological CV and state sponsorship supporting letter for Victoria!!!

Its been a busy day! Tomorrow I will be having a mild nervous breakdown as itsmy first IELTS (and hopefully only) test on Saturday in Sheffield. Papping it a bit to be honest. Needs 7s for state sponsorships but would like the option of going for general skilled visa too so aiming for a high as I can get.

Friday I will be starting my Masters degree thesis planning - that won't do a damn thinbg to get us to Oz but it might help if we do get there! Next week I will be planning my mid life crisis if we have to stay in the UK for the rest of our days!!!!

I have got some good advice on here so thanks to everyone.

After my mighty buzz yesterday I have come down today with a mighty crash! I'm cold, it's miserable outside, and the ever present reality of having to WAIT another 5-6 months is looming over my head with illuminating sirens! There is only so much house and job hunting you can do until you go nuts! The houses that we're looking at as well as the jobs won't even be there when we are ready for them! The waiting game is sooooooooooooooo frustrating!!!!:mad::mad::arghh:

Until then, roll on the weekend for our wedding anniversary celebration and The Lion King at the Lyceum Theater! :em4400:

I knew I had some good news buried under all my recent doom & gloom.

When OH had done his first day at work, he said his sponsor gave him a permanent contract, so after two years we will apply for permanent residency,

That's fantastic! Let's hope you can get there to be with him asap!!! :wubclub:

I am sat in the middle of the kids bedroom having a nervous breakdown, I am throwing so much out but there are still far too many toys that the kids are attached to, and that's before I even start on the rest of the house, how on earth are we going to shift all this before we go

Hope so ...... Once he receives the relocation monies then I can get on with the blood tests for the dog, the removals cleaned us out :arghh::arghh::arghh:

Let's hope they realise this, otherwise I could still be here in the summer, or there again I think I might just go mad,

Thinking about it we should have waited until we could all go together as we are no good at being apart, :dull:

Have gathered together previous invoices, references, bank statements, Trade Certificates, tax returns, business cards and previous yellow pages adverts from my business and began photocopying everything. Im not sure what I will need alltogether but have organised it into piles and going to ensure I have everything on the list that the TRA require.

We do what we do when we do it because it feels and calculates to be the right thing to do at the time, so try not to dwell too much on shoulda woulda coulda's. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder, your time apart is proof of just that. I understand, my husband and I find it very difficult to be apart from each other, and being so very far apart I can imagine only feels worse in that knowledge. Remember this: when you look up at the sky you are both standing under the same sun, the same moon, and the same stars. Tonight, if the sky is clear, look to the sky, and see if you can spot Orions Belt, it is a group of stars made up of 3 in a direct row and then a 4th star which completes a triangle with the 3. No matter where you are in the world, you can see the same sky which warms the heart knowing that distance is a more of a psychological phenomenon than a physical one. Your time will come, and I pray that it only comes fast for you and everything will miraculously come into line and work in your greatest favor. Imagine the joy and the closeness when you are reunited! Chantel

Breeeeeeeath. You are doing what you are doing so that your future and the future of your children will be bigger and brighter than anything you have experienced before. It is all coming together, and with each little piece of the puzzle you are coming closer to completion. Select a few toys that the children play with or are attached to the most and pack them away now, if they ask for them, let them know that because they are such important toys, they have to be kept safe to go to the new house. Maybe it would be a good idea to start else where in the house at the moment and then deal with the children's toys on Monday when the school holidays are over, that way, they may not notice things going if you do it bit by bit day by day. Ebay is a great place to get a bit of cash in return for items, and gumtree if you need instant cash. Anything else which you just want to get rid of and do not want to sell, put up on freecycle, people come running fast to collect good free stuff.

Most of all, focus on the future, keep thinking of the life that you are giving your children, and when you get to Australia, you'll be enjoying the sunshine and the great outdoors and your children won't be as interested in staying indoors to play with toys. :wubclub:

We

Congratulations and have a good weekend! We should have been going last October, but we kept getting put back for one reason or another. It isn't as if we had to wait for visas or anything, I am a perm resident and OH has dual citizenship GB/Australia, I am panicking a bit, cos my visa expires in June and I have to re apply. I have only just found out that you can apply long before it expires, so I am getting stuff ready to send off to Australia House. I feel like a bit of a lemon now, having missed the opportunity to send the stuff off previously. Such is life. We have been doing the same looking at real estate, cars etc for when we get there, which is a bit daft, because like you say, they won't be there when we all finally get there!

It all adds up to a greater understanding and helpful knowledge when the time does come, so I believe it is wise to o, just annoyingly frustrating having to wait! you still have a few months to get your visa going so you should be right. My son and I both have Australian citizenship as well, myself by birth and my son by decent. We are getting ready to submit my hubby's partner visa after we have renewed our passports which we are just doing now, so the wait is just on hubby's visa. Where abouts in Aus are you going?

Ok, my son in law is Australian as well, so my grandchildren are Australian by decent as well. Initially we were all going to go back together, but my son in law has got such a great job at the moment, he doesn't want to go back yet! My daughter, who also has Aussie residency would go tomorrow.

We are going to Tasmania, but haven't decided exactly where yet. PIO has been great for info on Tas, cos I've never even been!!! OH has been, but it was a long time ago. I like the look and sound of the Huon valley area.

What about you?

I am from Perth but we are heading to Brisbane as there is a great specialist school there for our son and I love the heat! I am sure that Tas is very lovely, but it is a tad cold for me. :cute: PIO is fantastic! We couldn't have made some very vital decisions without the valued and very kind input offered on here by other members. When are you hoping to go? how long will your visa take to sort out once you submit it?

I lived just outside Bundaberg for most of my time in Oz. I do also like the heat, but what I don't like are the cockroaches, the cane toads, the brown snakes and all the bitety critters!!. I also like the seasons, which I missed in QLD. My son in law is from Brissy and that is where they take the family when they go.

It will be hard having the grandkids in Bris and us in Tassie, but we have a plan!!!. We go and stay with them in the winter hols and they come to us in summer.

With regards to the visa application, I'm not really sure how long it will take, but it is a return resident visa, so I wouldn't imagine it would take too long (fingers crossed).

We may have jumped the gun a bit as we have booked our flights for the middle of May, but if my visa isn't done by then, we will have to change them. It is a bit of a coincidence cos my daughter has just come round to drop off the kids passports, her passport etc. To help with my evidence for my visa (cos I'm not in Oz).

Where in QLD are you considering?

Aly
