I found an employer willing to give me a job but they wont sponsor a visa :sad: My work as a Altro Hygienic wall cladder is very specialist and I'm not holding out much hope for a job coming up. My Wife Is a Graphic Designer and has found quite a few jobs on Seek.com.au Should we use a friends address (in Brisbane) on her Resume. Should we mention the need for sponsorship from the start? Well if you use your friends address what benefit would that give? Thats just starting off with a lie to begin with. You would be safer mentioning you need sponsorship from the start, just in case they expect you to drop in next week for a causal coffee and a chat. Eera Posted April 2, 2011 Share Posted April 2, 2011 Send off some CVs a couple of days to a week before you come over and follow it up by presenting yourself at the door. There are a few reasons why employers don't like sponsorship apart from the cost of it; the main one ( and one that's bitten us a couple of memorable times) is that we may end up employing someone who is a complete, um, non-fit in the company shall we say. I know you can apply for a second but am I right in thinking you have to have made the most of the first one? I'm not sure how well it would work my wife coming out on a WHV whilst I would be on holiday. I think the plan of sending off CV's just before we get there is a really good idea. Yeah just be careful with that one, even just looking/asking around for work while on a holiday visa is a grey area and you could get you into trouble. Opinion is divided on when to mention sponsorship is required, some say whet the appetite of the employer first of all and hten bring it up, others say be up front. My personal view is that I would be quite annoyed with somebody who had been discussing a role with me later brought up sponsorship. But it might work for some.. I am not at all surprised that you found an employer lost interest when you mentioned sponsorship, most do not want to go down that path. Have you ruled out the skilled migrant route? Friends of ours have done the whole employer sponsored visa and I guess we had it in our heads that the 457 visa was the only way? With the skilled Migrant route do you have to be state sponsored? As an employer I wouldn't touch a person who approached me for a job and then sprung the sponsored visa question once the job was almost in the bag. Trust is paramount and economy with the truth leads to concerns by employers about trusting the prospective employee. DIAC are planning Emigrate Expos in UK in June - look out for the ads and apply for an invite to attend. There will be employers there looking for skilled workers.
