    Job Agencies - Sydney

Hi all, I am Relocating to Sydney from the UK in Mid-December and was looking for any recruitment companies I could start submitting Resumes to, to help me get some interviews as soon as possible after I land. I am a Senior Planner/Scheduler. I have already started applying directly for Jobs but was advised employers would not be interested until I was physically in the country. Any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated!! Thanks Dean

  5. Hi everyone For the last 6 months I have been in a recruitment role for a Gold Coast based company. One thing I noticed was so many backpackers applying for positions who had sub-optimal resumes and cover letters. If any backpackers would like some help with their resume or cover letter, please let me know. I would love to help you out! Alexander

    Resume

Hi Has anyone got a good link or an example of a good Aussie style Resume - I have trawled lots of sites and there are so many variations. I have heard employers are particular in having an "Aussie Style Resume" over a "typical British one" so can anyone shed some light on what a Aussie one looks like? Thanks x
  7. Is there anyone out there who knows where I can get a professionally prepared resume suitable for Australian employers. I've seen a few companies advertised on the net but would rather go with one thats recommended. How much can I expect to pay for the service and how is it done ? Thanks Danny
  8. Do you think we need a speaker? Not for myself of course, being a paragon of virtue and reasoned argument. How many times does the Speaker say 'order'? I bet that becomes his Chinese torture in retirement.
  9. TIGER Airways Australia has been given permission to start flying again but will be required to observe strict conditions and is limited to 18 flights per day for the rest of this month. The airline will be under increased supervision by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority. CASA chief John McCormick warned that failure to meet the conditions would be treated seriously. Tiger said it would resume flights on the Melbourne-Sydney route on Friday, with tickets going on sale today. Other routes will be announced shortly. A simplified flying program would also see it reduce its Australian fleet from 10 to eight aircraft, with two planes being redeployed overseas. It would also close its bases at Adelaide and Avalon, near Geelong, and offer staff the opportunity to redeploy to Melbourne. Passengers already booked to fly from Friday will be told of changes and offered a range of options, including a penalty-free transfer to another flight, or a refund if their flight is not operating. The decision to allow the airline to return to the air comes after its grounding almost six weeks ago, when CASA formed the view it was a serious and imminent threat to safety. The grounding followed two incidents in which Tiger pilots flew too low in the approach to Melbourne airports in June. During its grounding, all of Tiger's pilots underwent additional training and the airline has been required to significantly improve its records-keeping. Today's conditions cover areas such as pilot training and proficiency, pilot rostering and fatigue, currency and revision of operational manuals. The airline has also been required to improve its change management process, appoint additional qualified personnel to key positions and amend its safety management system. Mr McCormick, who declared he would personally be prepared to fly on the airline, said Tiger had demonstrated it could comply with the conditions and meet the necessary safety requirements. “On that basis, CASA now believes allowing Tiger Airways Australia to resume operations is acceptable,” he said in Brisbane. “Tiger Airways has co-operated with CASA's investigation and is to be credited for a constructive approach. “CASA will be closely monitoring the operations of Tiger Airways through scheduled surveillance and regular spot checks. We will also be meeting regularly with the airline to review ongoing safety performance and compliance with the conditions on the airline's operations. “Any failure to comply with these conditions will be taken seriously.” Mr McCormick said he hoped Tiger's public image had not been damaged beyond repair.

    CV's / Resume

Hello there Is there a lot of difference between an English CV and an Aussie Resume? Ive seen sites where they say you need to go into a lot more detail and have a photo on the Aussie one, does anyone know for sure and could give me some advice? Were looking to get my husband a sponsorship but they all ask for resumes to be uploaded and we dont want to send a load of rubbish!! Thanks for any help
  11. Me and my wife have decide to move to Oz we are hoping to live and work in Brisbane on a 457 visa. I found an employer willing to give me a job but they wont sponsor a visa  My work as a Altro Hygienic wall cladder is very specialist and I'm not holding out much hope for a job coming up. My Wife Is a Graphic Designer and has found quite a few jobs on Seek.com.au Should we use a friends address (in Brisbane) on her Resume. Should we mention the need for sponsorship from the start? We are over in August and hoping to line up meetings/interviews with potential employers.
  12. Hi Everyone I got the detailed reference letter from my employer. I have few doubts: 1. Do I need to send my personal CV to ACS? 2. If yes, can I just copy the duties I did from my employer reference letter? or Do I need to shorten the duties? Thanks
  13. Hi, Terry is in the process of applying for jobs and just wondered if anyone has any tips on how to re-write his CV so it complies with the Aussie resume? Terry is an Accountant if that makes any difference. Thanks. Melanie x

    Aussie Resume????

G'day, just wondering if anyone had any tips to make a CV more user friendly for Aussies? My CV was fine for the UK, but i'm not getting anywere now i'm in this happy sunny land... and i've been job hunting for a while with no success. any particular formats and layouts? buzz words or phrases etc?? I've 15 years experience in customer service, administration and accounts, but am now applying for factory hand roles and am keeping my fingers crossed..... i did factory work while at uni so have experience. plus... is it a good idea to put your residential status on your CV? Because i'm obviously a pomy (don't think my accent will ever disappear and i've been here over a year lol!) , i've put that i'm a British Australian Resident on my CV header. should i get rid of this? i'm starting to think that employers just don't like brits lol! cheers, liz :happy_face_outlaw_s
  15. :unsure:Hi, I'm from an Asian country, came to Oz on a student visa and did a post-grad course with an accounting major. I applied for an offshore 175 visa along the way and recently got PR. I've also just completed my course and am looking to apply for graduate jobs. My apprehension is that since I'm not a native English speaker, the overall flavour of my resume might be too 'Asian' in terms of language or syntax and would put off potential employers. I would really appreciate getting in touch with someone whom I can PM and get some feedback on my resume. I'm not sure this forum is the right place for such a request, and if this is the case, please accept my apologies.

    Office Manager ACT Resume

I would be glad if someone can guide me on this.... My would be wife got her skills assessed from VETASSESS and recieved Business and Information Professional certification. She had a work experience of 10 yrs corporate experience in airline and airport industry (as an Manager) but NOT govt. exp. When we applied for ACT sponsorship, they sent a letter back stating that she does not have govt exp. and there is NO international airport in Canberra. Then, I got her profession re-evaluated from VETASSESS and got her Office Manager certification which should have been in earlier case. Now,when I send the documents to ACT, how should I frame her RESUME in a manner that it is accepted by them. She fulfills all the requirements of duties and responsibilities of Office Manager trade. If someone could give me some points, sample resumes or advice, would highly appreicate. Thanks...
  17. Hi everyone, my first post of many here i hope! I was made redundant last year in the UK and after a little research decided to come out to Australia as I have family staying here on 457 VISA's. I have a VISA which allows me to look for, but not partake in any work, I have sent my resume to lots of sites, but not heard much back. My resume clearly states I would need sponsorship to work in Australia. My background is in IT, particularly Applications support / Service Delivery / Change, Incident & Problem Management roles. I see a lot of suitable jobs posted but will my lack of VISA put most companies off? I will look around the forums for more info, but are there known agencies that deal with companies willing to sponsor IT pro's?

  19. Hi folks, been reading a lot recently about how you should change your CV to be an Aussie Resume. It would seem there are many companies or individuals who will take a good few hundred dollars of you just to make your CV into an aussie resume. I was wondering, how many people have actually paid people to do this and surely its nothing you cant work for yourself on the net. Just be interested in peoples views on this. Many thanks Mandisfam

  21. I've been in Aus since the end of January and am updating my CV to put what I've been doing the past couple of months since I got here. I don't want to put unemployed but what can I put instead? Putting 'emigrating' seems silly but I don't want to leave it blank. any suggestions? thanks!

    CV's or Resume's

Hi all  Just a line to try and sort something out. Do the Australian Employers accept our own CV type or do they prefer it modified to resemble their own type of Resume'? Just started rearranging mine to the Resume' format but would like to know if I am wasting my time and effort by doing it if they already accept the UK type CV? Advice would be duly appreciated. Thank you in anticipation. stevied
  23. Hiya - was wondering if I should attach my resume and a cover note explaining the attachments to my online 175 application? Does it make any sense to do so? Any thoughts? Cheers! JW
