Hi all, just an update to give those who submitted last year some hope of a grant soon. We applied 26th August 2015, by post for some reason. We didn't hear a thing for over 5 months although we knew they had received it as they took the money on the 27th!

 

Case officer then got in touch early Jan to tell us to go for medical and police check, these were done around 16th Jan. Hubbys company then wanted him to start his job in April so we decided we would sell up and go on evisitor visa to begin with. Sold house within a week, booked flights for 26th Feb via Dubai for a few days. We emailed the case officer a week before to ask if a grant was imminent, he responded straight away with a no he wasn't in a position to grant.

 

We have been here a few weeks now and are having a great time, it's made it easy as we have lots of family already here. So they are going to Bali the first week in April and asked if we wanted to join them, we need to be offshore to have the visa granted so what a great opportunity to kill two birds with one stone! Emailed the case officer again and told him we were planning a holiday and did he think he would be ready to grant by then. Within 24 hours he replied told us to email flight details and itinerary and he would grant it for us! Straight to 100

 

Very happy and everything seems to have fallen in place nicely, good luck to all those who applied in the second half of 2015 hopefully it won't be long now.

That's the one you use. Unless your CO needs to contact you for something, you have no need of their email address. Not hearing from a CO is not a bad thing They don't normally contact people unless there is an issue.

 

 

They don't give out their direct emails anymore. It all goes through a central point and the general queries are answered from the help desk sort of thing. Anything urgent will be passed on to your CO but tbh most people only want to enquire about their visa grant or to notify they intend to travel to Aus or some such. Nothing urgent in that.

Edit: We also felt adding in our Visa application time from application to grant was a good idea - seems reasonable.

@Jen44 it was supposed to be April as we had based our date on the timeline on the website (that said 5 months for low risk categories) but since joining this forum and applying and being told more like 9 - 12 months we are now looking to reschedule and uploading a new letter from our celebrant but it's hard to choose a date when we don't know what our window will be!!!! The whole system is very frustrating and makes it hard to actually plan anything :'(

We're really starting to feel the frustration and we knew there was a chance that applications made after ours would be processed before us but it's so hard to watch, especially when we're such a simple case with no complicated history, travel or anything else. It should be a super easy application to process!

I am applying for one to go over to Oz in case our 309/100 isn't granted on time, but I have been asked to provide a statement that I am a genuine tourist and information about what I will do after I leave Oz. My husband is a PR and it will be obvious to everyone that we are aiming to move to Oz permanently.

 

Did you have to do this? And did you get questioned by Oz Border Control? I am worried that they will send me back if I don't have a return flight or if they are not satisfied that I am a tourist.

 

Any guidance or info much appreciated.

Totally understand your frustration,

I am a contract worker, and are not taking contracts longer than 6 months, as we want to go as soon as we can. I have had to turn down great paying jobs!

Also wanting to put the house on the market and arrange the cats to move.. all very hard without knowing a date.

Judging by the date you applied and everyones timescales I am sure it will be any day now for you AusCitizen

It looks like they have seen there is a pending 309 visa and so are questioning your intentions as to the tourist visa. Which given you intend to wait out your visa grant, you are not really a genuine tourist.

 

I'd think if you can't provide them the info and that its truthful, don't provide it. Lying would not be a good thing. Can you not wait and follow a little later? Or just wait till its granted and then both go?

 

TBH I'm surprised you've been asked but it could be they are tightening up on this sort of thing and so we'll hear of more of this happening to people who wanted to wait out their off shore visa grant on shore. It could also be your husband is a PR holder and they are covering their bases off of that aspect.

 

I don't get that people go over so early before a grant timeframe is reached. 10-14 months is the timeframe and at some point in that it should be granted, perhaps a bit before. They also do clearly state not to make major life changing plans till the grant is through (if for whatever reason the visa isn't granted for example) like selling house, booking flights etc.

 

I'd consider a rethink on your plan to travel to Aus and wait till you have the visa grant and then book a flight.

Please can someone help me. I'm trying to attach some documents to an application on the Immi Account. There is a lot of documents required. How do I actually attach these? When I click on attach document it says no attachments currently provided? I don't even get an option to browse for attachments? I'm confused! [emoji12]

 

I just tried to look on the immi account but it has changed now we have the grant and I can't remember how to do it. Does a whole new box pop up when you go to attach? Then you have to choose which category to upload it too, find the document on your computer and name it.

Hi all, we are trying to add additional information to our application. We are expecting baby number 2 in June and we haven't registered our first daughter as an australian citizen yet as we are going to get them both done at the same time. If we write a letter explaining what we are planning, any suggestions on what category to upload it into. Thanks for any help

 

If it was me, I would have written this in my original statements. Do they need to know that your daughter is not an australian citizen yet - they know that it can be obtained easily?

Ahhh you have given me an idea of how it might work now. Where it tells me what is required I thought I would attach next to that. But maybe I need to find what it is requesting in that drop down box and then I may be able to attach? I'll look at it again in a bit. Thanks.

Whooo Middle East clearance is in the post about bloodly time I think only taken 13 wks ?? and it is Easter weekend and our CO is away till 31st lol ... Fingers crossed it will be here April x

Quick question - I'm getting two Oz citizens to do Statutory Declarations for me and was planning on getting a couple of family/friends from the UK also. Obviously I have form 888 for the Oz citizens to complete but was wondering if there is anything similar for UK citizens to complete or if they just need to write a statement. If it is just a statement will they need to get it witnessed?
